Sushi Don reviews
28I have been eating at this place for many years as it is probably the closest budget friendly authentic Japanese experience close to where I live. The food is always consistent for what you pay. The last time I ate here, I noticed the portion sizes had increased, which was a pleasant surprise given the price increase.
Went there for takeaway dinner tonight, ordered 3 katsu chicken meals, the two girls there were extremely unhelpful, stood there chatting. Waiting for my meal to come out for more than an hour, people ordered after us got their meal before us and when I walked to go ask one of the girls, how much longer, she said if we could wait for another 3 minutes after a whole hour wait time. When I finally got my order, checked the content and noticed miso soup’s missing from the bento set. The girl later said takeaway does not come with miso soup, we’ll have to pay for an extra dollar for it. Didn’t even bother asking if we wanted miso soup. I was watching one of the girls putting soup and rice into the containers and she had no sense of urgency, literally takes her 3 minutes to fill up a container with rice and she threw it back in the rice cooker and refill the same bowl with rice. It was a very unpleasant experience after all. I would not recommend.
One of those tucked away cheap Japanese places that you secretly wish less people knew about but really want more people to go to. Delicious, simple food that's so good I come religiously every week. You've never tasted a better chicken teriyaki.
Amazing place to get some lunch. Their specials are pretty amazing: the Katsu is a highlight for me. The only problem is that they call themselves Sushi Don but they don't display any Sushi.
Ive been going here for years now and my family walked all the way here for dinner.
Unfortunately arrived at 8: 40pm to be told we couldnt dine inn as they close at 9pm, unless we would eat fast enough.
Service wise was rather dissapointing, the lady at the counter seemed hesitant to serve us!
Looks like they’ve lost a regular customer, won’t be supporting this local business which is unfortunate.
Been coming here for the chicken-don for years, foods great but prices have increased quite a bit for Morley. If you’re looking for value for money, I would recommend elsewhere unfortunately. Thanks for the great food anyways Sushi don
Opened my katsu container only to be greeted by a massive black hair.so unhygienic and offputting, please instruct your staff to wear hair nets when preparing food.food was bare average too.
Love coming back here to eat, I am so happy that is still here after COVID. Definitely worth coming regularly
I had the chicken teriyaki. The chicken was deliciously crispy with a full flavoured and fragrant teriyaki sauce. The miso soup was also fully flavoured with a generous amount of seaweed.
I also ordered the fish katsu for takeaway. Despite the rest of the family having it a few hours later, they still enjoyed it.
Highly recommend this place.
This place is a hidden gem for Japanese takeaway. They have a small simple menu and it is delicious.
I ordered a teriyaki beef rice couple days ago. The beef had strong taste, perhaps heaps of Msg in it also the miso soup was watery. I felt thirsty while having the meal. Staff was friendly tho. Im a big fan of Japanese food. That wasn’t the authentic Japanese food at all. The worst part when I started to have a sore throat just an hour after. Then I got really sick the next day. I did not have anything before that meal so I’m sure it was the food from there. Pease improve the quality of food.
Teriyaki chicken and miso soup in Taka restaurant (in city) is terrible compare to this place. This place makes better miso soup and teriyaki chicken than taka by far! But more expensive which is understandable.
Not much of a choice for Japanese food in the Morley area after dark although this place is always consistent although limited menu, I think if they did made to order sushi rolls there in the evening their business will boom. Good service and clean.
I have been going here for over 10 years. The food has always been high quality, fresh, simple and tasty.
I love the octopus salad, the seaweed salad and the garlic chicken meal box.
The staff are always pleasant and friendly and happy to help you pick a dish if you can't decide.
The food is also very reasonably priced. I don't think it's gone up more than a few dollars in the 10 years I've been eating there.

I chose to eat here after reading positive reviews, just ate here and ordered the teriyaki beef, long wait on food, expensive prices I paid $17.80 for teriyaki beef that was overly salty and strong taste of liquid smoke / burnt char taste. I like a char on my beef but this was truly revolting. I ate two pieces and every other element was also B-grade.
Fantastic food and fantastic service, the ladies here are very friendly and the food is perfect.
Had takeaway for three, all bento boxes. Have not been for some months and was told there is no more sushi made! All bento boxes were well proportioned. The chicken katsu was super crispy with a fresh salad. Still worth visiting for this reason.
Cannot get enough of this place! Such good value for a delicious, GIGANTIC serve of a Bento box, the sushi is fresh and tasty, and the service is always fast and friendly.
Pretty good and fast japanese. I like the spicy chicken meal and there sushi is decent also when you can get it (usually gone by dinner time) good location and option to dine in the food hall.
Whenever I go to Internatinal food court in Morley I will eat at Sushi Don. Their Terriyaki chicken is soooooo good. Crispy skin, generous portions
