Surge Fitness Wanneroo reviews
41Worst experience from this gym. When I went for a trial they pressured me into joining even though I constantly said I'll see how I go before I decide and they also pressured me on the way out, to which I ended up just joining to not miss out on the deal they had on at the time. After not going there much after that I went in to try and cancel my membership and was told they can't do it at the front desk at all, it has to be done through the app and needs to be approved before I can cancel. I asked what would happen if I didn't cancel and my contract came to an end. I was told that my contract would be automatically renewed and money would continue to come out of my account. So I need their approval to cancel my membership but they don't need my approval to renew my contract and take money out of my account? Also missed a call from them and when calling back I was told they don't know why someone called me and if it was important they'd call again with no solution for me. The customer service here is so pushy and rude. Wouldn't recommend.
How unprofessional you sign up for three months and they extend the membership without even telling us. We injured ourselves and got a doctor's letter but that was not enough as the letter was to say it's a permanent disability. How do we know that's the case?
Brilliant gym! Facilities are great with a huge range of equipment, loads of classes and a great crèche! Staff are awesome, the kids and I look forward to coming as often as we can:)
I highly recommend Surge Wanneroo mainly because of the creche the girls there are amazing my kids are always well looked after and happy so I can work out with no worries, absolutely love them!
I have been contemplating whether I should leave a review as the fitness industry is pretty small. But after my recently experience I feel like I need to share my honest opinion.
I was a Lesmills group fitness instructor for years and due to knee injuries, in the past few years I've been teaching Pilates and Yoga only.
I recently joined the gym after having a baby. I wanted to do dancing classes and reformer pilates. Though it turned out the Monday night class isn't really a dancing class but that's fine.
I have been to reformer classes taught by 5 different instructors. And I can say there were only 2 instructors classes were taught professionally and enjoyable. I have been to a class taught by Fiona and I just wanted to leave after 5 minutes. Very unenthusiastic and boring class, she was not engaged or present and the most I remembered about the class was that she was counting a lot, that's all. I never returned after 1 class. I did however enjoy Jaime and Samina's classes.
I couldn't book a reformer class yesterday as they are very popular and often booked up quickly.
I went to a TRX suspension class instead for the first time. Firstly the instructor didn't greet anyone or even ask if anyone has injuries before starting the class. There was another who told the instructor it was her first time trying the class. The instructor didn't say anything helpful but oh I need to pack the stuff away for the next class and just went on doing what she was doing. I could tell that lady was quite intimidated. If I weren't an ex instructor I would have find it intimidating too. As a first time participant I definitely didn't feel welcome.
Anyway, 5 minutes into the class, I was doing lunges. The instructor walked towards me and asked me to go lower in my lunge. I told her 'I can't because I have knee injuries, I will just do half ranges'. She looked at me funny and said 'of course you can'. I was shocked by her response. I insisted that I know what I am doing and I will do what I can. Somehow she didn't like my respond. As she walked away she said 'well this is not the class for you then'. WOW, I have never seen any instructor with such attitude but I polity said to her again I will do what I can and continued on. It is safe to say I will not attend that instructors classes again. Not only the attitude, she didn't bother tying her hair back. As half of the time she was busy tidying her hair while demonstrating.
Now about the creche, the staff have been very friendly each time I brough my little one there. But every time I picked him up he smelled like he's been sprayed with very strong perfume. I never mentioned anything to the staff but it did bother me and I had to bath my baby to wash off the smell every time I got home.
Recently I noticed my weekly membership has gone up and I was told by reception staff that because I didn't show up for a creche session that I have booked in. I understand that if I don't show up then I would be charged the session I've booked in. But apparently there is an extra fee charged for no shows. Which I was no aware of, that's why I thought it was a membership fee increase without notice.
I explained to them that sometimes little babies just decides they want to sleep when mum wants go to the gym and it would be too late to cancel by then. I have no problem for paying for the session that I booked but didn't use but I don't think it is reasonable to charge an extra fee on top of that.
After expressing my concerns with the stuff they said they will speak to the manager and contact me. Which they haven't, after calling them back they told me none of the management are working. Great, I am cancelling my membership.
Surge Wanneroo Gym is awesome, it literally ticks all the boxes for a wide variety of impact making group fitness classes (including Reformer Pilates!) but also has so much space and options in the weights/strength training area. All staff have been friendly, helpful and professional. It's such a positive space and I would definitely recommend to others.
I have just rejoined, after 3 years of being away and I’m so happy with the staff and the trainers! Classes are fantastic ️ chev and Sonja’s classes are my favorite ️ when I went on my first day, I felt like I hadn’t even left, the other members who I use to workout with, all remembered me and welcomed me back! Loving the atmosphere and so glad I’m back
I have recently joined Surge Fitness Wanneroo. Great gym with excellent facilities. The staff are very welcoming. Great personal trainers and a good range of fitness classes. Highly recommend the gym.
Don't sign up until you read the fine print in the terms and conditions. We signed up for three months, thinking that was a finite contract, with a view to extending if we wanted to. But no. The automatic debit continues until you give 30 days notice! What a joke.
I’ve been a member for Surge for a while now and gotta say haven’t been happier! The staff and PTs alone are amazing and always happy to help! Even after having my lil girl and having to stop they have always listened to what I needed without any questions! Now after having my second I cannot wait to go back! My lil ones absolutely love the creche so I know not only am I getting a great workouts worth but my kiddies are in good hands! Would deff recommend Surge to anyone looking for the right gym!
Been to a few gyms over the years and this one is definitely the best. I mainly do group fitness and can say the instructors are fantastic! Very helpful and always a fun session. Also a great bunch of people to workout with. Very welcoming, friendly gym
Highly recommend Surge Wanneroo! From day one I felt welcomed and all the staff are so lovely, plenty of group fitness classes and amazing PTs! My daughter also loves going to their in-house creche!
I have been a member of Surge Wanneroo for around six years and still love the community feel it has. A clean, gym with a relaxed and friendly feel and a good variety of equipment and classes as well as plenty of parking. The gym provides a place for those that are serious about their workout and want to push themselves as well as those there to have fun and destress. The gym has always been responsive to member feedback and has evolved over the years - whether it is adding extra classes or renovating the gym floor, replacing equipment or the showers and lockers as they have recently. The PTs are also very knowledgeable, friendly and approachable.
Amazing gym with a lovely atmosphere. Great facilities and an awesome crèche. I have been a member for over 2 years and enjoy many of the group fitness classes on offer. The trainers and instructors are knowledgeable and approachable and always have your best interests at heart. They teach you know not only the skills and techniques to get the most out of your workout but in a safe an effective way. I’d recommend Surge to anyone looking for a great local gym.
Classes inconsistent (moved around), many classes and challenges cost extra (not inc in weekly charge) and final straw, continued to debit money after my membership was cancelled and refused to refund. I’m my opinion poor management.
Will look at legal action for not cancelling membership sounds ridiculous but by looking at other reviews this has happened to others. No emails no calls pts not showing up to our sessions so money lost there aswell. Disappointing
Looks like I’m joining the queue of very unhappy people who’ve had an awful customer service experience trying to leave this gym! I cancelled my membership (or thought I did) in January, received a phone call 4 weeks later to say they were sorry for the delay in responding and my membership will be cancelled as of that day with the 4 week period waived. Great, only they never cancelled and continued to take $44.99 per week out of my account for 3.5 months!
Worse experience of my life, at surge there’s no consideration for customers! I was treated like a nobody and denied entry simply because of unsuccessful direct debit even after attempting to pay on the spot. The staff on said their system couldn’t let them pay because last payment were still processing and it takes 4 days. Like it’s my fault their system can’t accept my payment! How unfair is that? You don’t treat people like that! Especially people who have been royal to you! How many people did I refer to you? Both my sisters joined surge because of me!
There are better gyms and with good deals in the area than surge, I’ll be going there.at least I’ll be treated right
never again will I put my foot in that gym.
Worst experience I have ever had trying to leave a gym in my life. I have been to multiple gyms through out the years and surge has to be by far the most difficult gym to leave. They will draw this process out for as long as they possibly can, trying to get every last cent they can from you. There was confusion originally with the leaving process and I accepted I hadn’t read an email properly to begin with, however after going in and signing the necessary paperwork to finalise my cancellation and being told the payments would stop, they have once again continued to charge. I will never suggest surge to anyone ever again
It’s an okay gym, I’m currently with two gyms this is my second gym bit busy and more expensive my only problem with this gym is that it’s just dirty. You are paying a premium the most expensive gym in the area in fact I just expect it to be clean but probably has the most disgusting toilets. Apart from that staff are nice gym equipment is decent bit small and crowded but does have a good atmosphere.
