St John Shop & First Aid Training reviews
17 I completed a first aid refresher day with St John yesterday. Unfortunately, my entire experience was marred by the unprofessional conduct of our trainer, John.
Throughout the duration of the course, I found John's behaviour to be arrogant, rude, and condescending, which greatly detracted from the learning experience. I believe that it is essential for a first-aid instructor to maintain a respectful and constructive learning environment, but John consistently failed to do so.
One specific incident that stands out occurred when a participant asked a reasonable question. Rather than providing a straightforward and informative response, John chose to address the question in a manner that made the individual and then the group as a whole feel belittled and patronised.
Another instance involved a practical exercise where a group of us were practicing CPR. Instead of offering clear instructions and guidance, John decided to loudly berate three of us, asserting that we were "not following instructions, which is not good enough, guys. " The frustration of the group stemmed from his poor communication skills, as he failed to direct his comments to the intended individual. Consequently, none of us knew who he was addressing, which led to confusion and a premature halt in our activities. I attempted to address this issue with John, but he instead dismissed my concerns and proceeded to gaslight me, insisting that he had indeed addressed the specific person by name. This was clearly not the case. And there were many more examples.
The lack of professionalism and respect I encountered during this course was deeply disappointing. I had expected to leave the course with a sense of confidence and preparedness in handling first-aid situations, but instead, I was left with a bitter experience that I do not wish to repeat.
First aid is not something we want to do, we have to do it for work, and they pay for it. We don't look forward to doing it, it's a long day.
But having had to do it here, and having Kaitlin as the instructor, it was very easy to do, she was great, very happy!
Unfortunately was late by 5 minutes due to vehicle incidents and was turned away because I missed out on the trainer telling me where the toilets and kitchen was. No refunds aswell.
May get a free $150 but I'll never use St john again.
A few coworkers and I did our first aid training here today with Brian. He was the most fantastic instructor and we all had an amazing time. We can't wait to come back again for our CPR refresher next year. Thank you!

Renewed my first aid training here and as always staff were fantastic. Could not recommend them enough. They are very well educated, great trainers and all have fantastic personalities. Full marks to the instructors as always.
Anyone that doesn't know first aid I would highly recommend to get your first aid certificate here.
St John First Aid training was conducted in a very professional manner. The trainer was very knowledgeable and had great communication skills. There were lots of role playing and it was done in a fun way.
I highly recommend attending their courses.
Recently completed a 3 hour CPR/first aid refresher course with St John Ambulance. I was motivated by recent news events where bystanders saved lives by performing CPR. There is NO excuse, everyone should have basic training. Think of how awful you would feel if you could only stand by helplessly.
The presenter was very down-to-earth and comfortable with all the characters/participants in the room. Her attitude was really helpful for people to relax and enjoy the experience of learning first aid together.
Just complete a one day first aide course with St John's Ambulance in Melville and it was excellently presented and very helpful information was provided to assist me in my 1st Aide Course. Very happy to recommend this course and St John's Ambulance staff. Thank You!
Great 1st Aid Refresher Course delivered by St Johns as always. I believe if you want to undertake training, particularly first aid, it should be delivered by highly experienced experts in their field. This is what we do and, am happy to say, so do St Johns. All my courses through St Johns have been first rate and my most recent refresher just completed was no exception. Well done St Johns!
I completed my Provide First Aid here (1 full day) and it was fun, informative, engaging and highly interactive! I would definitely recommend this course for general knowledge of first aid. You never know when you would need it.
I did the one day First Aid Course. We were with 12 people and our trainer was Hayden. He is an excellent trainer, was easy to follow and made it even more interesting with a lot of engaging stories. It’s a long day but absolutely worth it, I feel way more confident about my first aid skills. Highly recommmend.
I did the one day Provide First Aid course and it was great. You do online learning first then you go in for more learning and practical with a trainer. I highly recommend St John courses. You never know when you might need it to save the life of a loved one or anyone in need.
I recently attended the one day Provide First Aid course in Joondalup and now have great confidence in my ability to provide first aid assistance. The trainer (Warren) was fantastic - great presenter, knowledgeable and ensured the information presented was relevant and easily understood by all who attended. Resources provided were excellent and a good reference to refresh your memory on what was learnt on the day. Highly recommend SJA for any first aid training.
A must have knowledge. Not just for work but for life in general.
St John is the most comprehensive course I've had with first aid. Not to say other provider's don't teach you the basics, but St John went above and beyond in my opinion.
RAC member discount too!
Lenush of St John's Joondalup provided a clear, understandable and very thorough training in First Aid HLTAID004 which I would recommend.
