St John of God Murdoch Hospital Emergency Room reviews
8Been before and it's been great, this time my husband was referred by the GP for IV antibiotics - urgently but they couldn't do it because there wasn't a surgeon on duty. Ridiculous, glad we found that out before paying! For a private ED I would have thought this was the least they should have available.
The waiting time was long considering it’s a private hospital. The patient was asking for food for two hours and all the staffs including doctor said he can eat and will give some sandwiches. Finally sandwiches arrived after asking for 6 to 7 times and it was chicken sandwich though during the admission process we mentioned the dietary requirements as vegetarian. Hard to believe that they charge a fortune with no customer service at all.
My wife was there for over 4 hours and apart from an X-ray they did not do any further investigations. She was asked what her pain level was and she said about a 9. They said nothing was broken so go home (Sat 5pm) and arrange an MRI next week? Why could they not do one then? Her care was her below what we expected at a private hospital, and would not even pass at a 3rd world level. They told what it was not ie a broken bone but were not prepared to investigate the next step to determine what it could be ie damaged ligaments and how to manage the treatment. They offered a crutch to assist with walking but she was unable to use this due to another issue. So they said just manage the best you can.
The nursing staff were very good but the Medical decision was very poor.
Perhaps there is too much money being spent on buildings instead of staff and equipment
Would not recommend this hospital ED to anyone.
One patient who came out after seeing the ED doctors told the clerical staff that they could write to his lawyer too seek the payment as they did nothing for him. I should have acted on his advice.
Considering this is a private hospital, my mother was told that because she was an emergency patient her insurance would cover nothing, literally nothing. She would have to pay for all tests. Nurses were also rude. We left and went to Fiona Stanley next door. Far better experience nurses and staff were excellent and they excepted the private insurance with no problems.
Exceptionally expensive. For a few hours of care which delivered no solutions, the attendance cost of $275 and then additional test costs of another $700 which have come in the mail since the event, left my healthcare card student son in financial pain.
Nice nursing staff but simply not worth the money.
Go to a public ED.
Went to Murdoch Emergency today & yes, it took quite some time to see a doctor, the thoroughness & caring of all their staff I sincerely appreciated. I was there for 5 hours. My health is my greatest asset & to have a medical team identify my health problem was what I was hoping for & they were fantastic. Thank you one & all.
I did not have a good experience here at the Emergency department while trying to get help for my baby. The nurses were extremely unqualified to deal with a sick child to the point of not even knowing how to take the baby temperature. They don’t deal with babies that was their excuse told but they did not inform this to us at the reception after waiting for a dr too long we left to rush to Fiona Stanley.
I only waited for 2 and a half hours (was told there is a long wait of 5 hours) and got treated with a lot of care and support. Very happy with that!
