South Street Eye Clinic reviews
13The professional service from Dr was no doubt faultless. The delivery of diagnosis was heartless. Front desk staff unfriendly and a 2 1/2 hour wait resulted in a sore back for a week.
Brilliant Dr's. Saved my eyesight. Yes you can wait a while in the surgery. But that's because they will and have to take emergency appointments. For example I tore my retina on Tuesday they saw me Wednesday. No Dr can accommodate that sort of unplanned emergencies without delays. Many of the patients were emergency like me. Dr Dimitry and Dr Wu highly skilled and thorough and very careful.
Wait time here's are absolutely abhorrent. Haven't gotten in to see someone in under 2 hours, Ive had to wait this long every time. Then for the specialist to spend 2 minutes with you rushing you (because they're severely behind) after you've waited so long, making you feel as though your results don't matter or they're too rushed to check everything properly. And due to having the drops in, someone has to drive me and they also have to wait this time for you to get out. Wish I could go elsewhere.
Was told over the phone the cost of the visit would be $120. You can imagine my disgust when I was hit with a bill for $320. I already had tests done at spec savers who told me I had cataracts and referred me to this eye clinic. I was expecting to be talked to about the operation and what lenses I could have and to be shown what the out come may be with the different kind of lenses. Instead they did a few tests similar to the optometrist and then said then said yes you have cataracts! And you will need an operation. When I wanted to talk about the lenses I was just given a brochure and sent on my way with a referral to the hospital which I found out carried a fee of $50. So basically I paid $320 dollars to confirm what the optometrist told me. Then the receptionist made it worse with her smug attitude after I had to pay the unexpected bill of $320. Will not be going back to this place or getting my cataracts done through them.
One could waiver on the non receptive reception staff! As Dr Kang has been ok. However, after waiting 2 1/2 hours this visit only to have a standard appointment queue jump on you! We've been attending here for my mum for the last couple of years, reception staff lack respect for elderly and those who need supportive assistance and most times we have to endure lengthy wait times. We're done! Going elsewhere now, to my lovely guy, complete with awesome, efficient reception staff.
Reception, lady assistant in the back exam room - curt, unpleasant. The assistant was going to dilate my eyes again (!) - good thing I stopped her as I'd already been dilated by the other assistant in the front room. No warning on the extreme bright light procedure that was going to follow. Unpleasant for sure but what others do is to warn you and talk you gently through it instead of just coldly administer the procedure.
I think you surely can find better staff than the ones you have.
The consultant was okay and professional enough.
Update: they just called me up today after the visit yesterday and asked me to drop in again to have my pressure reading taken again because the assistant forgot to write it down. Unbelievable
Having a husband with a rare condition it's refreshing to finally find a Dr (specialist) with the knowledge in his area and expertise. Examinations are thorough and exemplary to the professionalism and patience of the staff on hand. We both thank you for taking the time to assist us.
A day after cataract surgery, I can see 100% now,
No pain or whatsoever, only a little uncomfortable for a few days
Thanks Dr. Kang

Agree reception staff are so rude, unhelpful.well one in particular. Medical staff always lovely.
The Receptionist was unprofessional, rude and impatient with my old mum, who is hard of hearing and needs to use a walker. Her name was Katrina and she clearly couldn’t be bothered with helping fill in the paper work for mums first appointment. Then the assistant Sharon stomped into the waiting area and yelled out mumS name from the other end of the waiting area, waving her arms to hurry mum in. We were there for 2 hours, the parking is impossible! Don’t let me get started on the dilemma of booking mums next appointment!
I was sent here for an examination of my 'good' eye, as I was having needles for MD. This is a "specialist"? My eye was bloodshot for a week, the pain was very bad. Never again!
