I had the unfortunate and frustrating experience of dealing with Solar Repairs recently. Initially, everything seemed fine. The booking process on 25 July 2023 was smooth and the electrician came out 2 days later for the initial inspection. I was told that the solar panels needed a new fuse, but since it was an older system, the fuse was discontinued, and they weren't sure if they could find a replacement. However, the electrician mentioned that three other jobs required a similar fuse, and if they did find one it would only take 5 minutes to install.

Two weeks later, while I was in hospital, I received a call saying it would cost $440. I reluctantly accepted the original quote of $440 over the phone, but followed up a breakdown of the $440 charge, which seemed high for "5 minute install". Despite multiple attempts over the following weeks, and several promises to provide this breakdown, no one ever got back to me.

The electrician arrived, unannounced, to install the fuse without any prior notice on 29 August 2023 - we only found out through our CCTV system. I followed up with an email, stating that I needed the breakdown before making any payment. This, at least, prompted Solar Repairs to call me back, although what they told me was very strange. I was informed that they couldn't provide a breakdown because "that's not how they do things". When I pressed for specifics on the cost of the fuse, the hours spent sourcing it, and the hourly rate, the conversation quickly turned defensive. Clark essentially told me "It is what it is. " To add insult to injury, I was subjected to multiple condescending explanations, with Clark insisting on telling me the most obvious things, like how electricians need to order parts, pick them up, and then install them on the job. Instead of giving me a straightforward answer regarding the hourly rate and the time spent finding the fuse, I was repeatedly asked to "guess how much electricians are paid", and condescendingly informed when I didn't guess correctly. Once again, they completely dodged my question.

I honestly feel like they picked the $440 fee out of thin air, and this is substantially more than what the job actually cost them. Particularly as they had to source the same fuse for three other customers.

After perusing other 1-star reviews (something I really wish I had done before initially contacting Solar Repairs), it's clear that there's a recurring pattern here. First, there is a total lack of transparency when it comes to pricing, which could easily be remedied with itemised quotes. Second, Clark's communication style is evasive and condescending. Combine that with the lack of specifics, and I feel frustrated and ripped off. I definitely do not recommend this company!

This company is disreputable. Took money $1,000 down payment from credit card. Never responded with requests for a proper quotation with product information. We lost confidence in Solar Repairs and asked them to cancel. Solar Repairs claimed it is non-refundable deposit despite no contract in place. Just stole money from us.

I would not hesitate to recommend Solar Repairs for your solar needs. A highly professional and friendly team from Administration to Technicians. As an aged pensioner I was very pleased with level of service and support they provided me. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Melissa, Clarke and Zac.

The service is great, from Melissa in the office to the team that came to assess our failing hot water system to the second team that came to install the new system yesterday. Everything is as agreed with Solar Repairs, all is done in an efficient and timely manner and nothing is an obstacle, even an impossibly narrow driveway and a steep roof. Hot water packed it in overnight called first thing in the morning and technician was at my place by 9: 30am managed to sort out temporary hot water while I assessed options for repairs.

When my hot water system broke down I was dreading having to call for quotes especially on a Friday. I didn’t expect any response but Clark responded promptly and I explained my hws situation and would like a quote.
Clark came back with a reasonable quote and he organised a temporary hws while we waited for a new one. From start to finish of the installation I was very impressed with Clark and his team on how courteous, professional and efficient they are. Also thank you Mel for your help. I would highly recommend Solar Repairs to my friends and family. Keep up the excellent service!

I have had to deal with Clark & his team over the last 5 years and I have always found the customer service to be very friendly, efficient and reliable. Thank you for all your great work!

Clark was great at talking telling my Wife and I all the advantages by renewing our solar system, telling us he could do the system for $6000 and we will be getting a really good system, we MAY have to pay $350 to $380 for the removal of the panels.
I requested a quote, did not arrive, Clark contacted us that the fitters were coming in a couple days I requested a proposed invoice, no answer! The techs arrived and did a great job on completion I asked then to ask Clark or the office to email an invoice, 4 weeks later and after excuses an email arrived for $6000 plus $600 also $380 plus GST for him removing the panels in his Ute taken by Clark and his Son.
I queried the amounts and told by the office staff that Clark says that is it!
Overall we felt swindled by a lack of sincere information.
I obviously will be warning all my Family and Friends including my Mens Sheds corporation throughout WA - NOT TO BE TRUSTED.

Our Solar required replacement, when we were just about to depart on holidays. Arrangements were made, and Solar and Electrical completed the job.
It was a delight on our return to see the excellent installation job they had delivered. A well finished tidy job. Thank you.

Bad experience, charged my parents 250 for a mere look at my parents broken solar system and didn't fix anything literally looked and gave quotes. My parents ended having to buy a completely new system from a different company. These guys charged my parents for literally giving a quote! Consumer beware!

The team did an excellent job. The team provided prompt, professional service exercising a high degree of care for what was a tricky exercise. We couldn't be happier with the end result. Thanks guys!
