Shikara Indian Restaurant

Love Indian food but sadly I didn't get it here, beef Vindaloo, very hot chilli with no other flavours or spice notes, and as hard as I looked there was no Aloo in the dish, a proper Vindaloo is a medium heat curry with lots of other spice flavours. Next is the chicken Madras, this is a south Indian dish not a Goan dish so why the coconut cream/milk, just simply not even close to what a madras should be. Can't you just be true to your dishes, I just can't believe you serve this to people knowing it is nothing like you would have had in India, won't be back.

Well having to wait 45 minutes for any food to come out was ridiculous and being told it was coming out soon we ordered 4 dishes plus nann bread arrived at 7ish put in dirty naughty corner with the cobwebs that was first sign that it was not going to be a good night and it was my 65th birthday
When I asked where the toilets were sign number 2 the front desk area was a mess blue buckets? Piled high floor was wet was drinks and I am walking with a walking stick great compo case! I hate to think what the kitchen looked liked?
Oh the toilets were outside near the lift!
By now it’s getting onto 9ish we had our one dish sizzling tandoori very nice but they could have given us some sauce to go with the shesk kebab we still hadn’t got any bread! We asked when the food coming answer soon
I said to my son pay for what we have had and let’s go!
So the meal cost about $50. With drinks and then we proceeded to KFC and we were very lucky served in least than 5 minutes
So that’s how my 65th birthday went down and I will never go near that restaurant again totally disgusting and disgraceful and disorganised they need to clean it from top to bottom and reorganised there KITCHEN TRULY UNBELIEVABLE OTHER PEOPLE WERE WALKING OUT AS WELL

Didn’t enjoy the meal at all, it took half an hour even though there were only a few other people there then the chicken korma came out in big chunks, bright yellow, stinking and tasting like they’d poured curry powder in and nothing else. It was inedible. No vegetables in either dish. It was very disappointing

Have been here a few times and the service has always been questionable, but have ignored it as food was good. Tonight will be the last visit we ever make. Got shoved on a tiny table around the corner. Table was dirty with bugs that had fallen from spider web above the table. Cutlery was dirty. Had to ask to have our order taken as had been waiting a while for someone to come around to the little hidy hole we were seated in. Then told we couldn’t have our entree come out with are main’s because it was too busy… 50min wait for food. Rice came out with a spoon covered in what looked like mould. Mild meal was faaaaarr from it. Only saving grace was the kids chips or i would have gone hungry. They didn’t seem to care much… guests seemed more of an inconvenience than anything.

4 Ladies go out for a catch up. Booked and arrived for 7pm got our mains at 9pm. We asked to order 3 times and told not yet in 5 more mins, but would you like a drink every 10 mins.
The Tandori chicken was not cooked through.
The Malai Kofta had a hard piece in it, so in fact I couldn't put a knife through it. If there were a lot of pieces it would be OK.
When advised the waitress nothing happened however when explained to the manager he was apologetic and offered anything complimentary and reduced our bill but by this time we just wanted to leave and go get a coffee

Waited nearly 2 hours for our main meal only ordered 3 main dishes, shouldn't have waited this long. Disappointing usually love Shakiras

It kills me to write this review as we have been coming for years. (So I won’t destroy star rating)

We decided to stop coming due to some kid throwing up and the table had minimal cleaning before the next customer sat down.

Staff are always good to us as regulars but at times it gets quite tense from the kitchen staff as we do try and get in and get out.

We tried again tonight after hearing they changed the stinky carpet and the time for waiting had changed quite considerably as Uber drivers were placed secondary instead us eat in customers.

We will never question the food it’s always 5 star.but waiting 2 hours to finish our main meal is just far too long.

We even try to order as soon as we sit down to minimise the wait times but they refuse to take our order till after 10/15 minutes.

Last time we were told to “ split our group into two” if we want to order earlier.

Tonight we arrived at 5.45 and we did not get our mains at 8pm on a Tuesday night.

Love the staff, love the food and love the non smelly carpet.

But please speed things up.

We go here every week, sometimes twice a week. The staff are lovely, the owner is also incredibly friendly and the food is amazing! The butter chicken is amazing. The prices are cheap and the portions are generous. I definitely recommend.

Walked out of this restaurant tonight after waiting a ridiculously long time to order. Sat there for 40 minutes waiting to even order and we weren’t the only ones. Lots of Uber drivers collecting food but customers in the restaurants were neglected from what I could see. Unacceptable length of time. Really poor service. Definitely would not recommend and will not be back.

Amazing food, great staff and all topped off with a harbour view and a sunset. Don't pass up on a great experience

I just love the chicken 65 and the lamb dishes the staff are very friendly and its in absolutely lovely location

So disappointed, honestly this was the worst Indian food I have ever had, ordered Butter Chicken but I’m actually unsure what we received, there was legitimately no flavor so it’s hard to even gauge what we got based off that, Garlic Naan was a whole lot of Naan and no garlic.the rice was ok but I mean.it’s rice…finished my meal and was full but still oddly hungry and longing for that hit of Butter Chicken flavor that never came.woolies makes a better butter chicken frozen meal.

I'm sorry to say this, but this is the worst indian food I have ever had.
ITS TASTELESS, Its lacking of flavour for an Indian food.

Disappointing chilli paneer sizzler. Please amend recipe to not have tomato ketchup/sauce overpowering the dish. Paneer makhani curry was too sweet.

Shocking Service. Waited over two and a half hours for our food to come out. The staff weren't very welcoming and we received no apology when our food finally arrived. The tandoori chicken we ordered was dry as a bone. Plates were dirty. The food was not worth the 2 and a half hour wait. Wont be returning anytime soon.

Waited more than 2 hours for our food… no apologies, nothing. When it came out the “mild” spice was so hot I barely noticed that the food was lukewarm. Naan was dripping with oil. The whole time the manager was on the phone taking uber orders. Shocking service and very average food. Won’t be going back in a hurry!

We went there for my mum's birthday. Food was good. The curry servings are quite big. I think the value for money is excellent. Naan wasn't the best but not bad. I would definitely go back.

Our reservation was at 6pm, we didn't get our entree until 7.10pm and our mains until 7.40pm. There was no compensation, explanation or care when asked for. The 'manager' stood behind the bar with no care in the world, letting his poor young waitresses take the brunt of angry, hungry customers. Not a way to run a restaurant, sad to see. This extended time to wait for food is ridiculous, no one in the booked out restaurant were eating either. Don't bother coming here, because you'll be waiting an eternity for some curry. I won't be back, very disappointed.

Honestly a 1 star is generous. We waited 40 minutes for 1 entree and then another 50 minutes for 2 mains.
The manager stood at the bar with his arms crossed the whole time his staff were running around doing the best they could and didn't help his staff. The food was OK but not something I would go out of my way to order again. On top of that the tables are so close together I could bump the person behind me and beside me. Not at all covid safe. I will not be attending again. Don't wait your money

Take away delivery shocking called several times to chase order manager arrogant never apologized once just kept fobbing me off. Food good if prepared for long wait. Customer service zero service
