If you are visiting Western Australia for a kiteboarding trip, take the extra time and head up to Shark Bay. The wind is strong and the water is shallow and flat. Book the downwinder to Big Lagoon and enjoy one of the best kiteboarding experiences.

I had a 3hr lesson with Damo yesterday. Conditions were excellent and the water was beautiful. Damo had all the patience in the world for a novice like myself. In the end I finally put all the piece's together and I was up kite surfing. I can't thank Damo enough.

My friend Mark has been keen to try kite surfing for several years. He has wanted to learn all that time.
However, being deaf it all seemed too hard, and often the initial classes are in groups of two or more, which would not work.
We were holidaying together on the west coast when we became aware of Shark Bay Kitesurfing and decided to approach them to see what they thought.
Well Damien (Damo) is certainly one up for a challenge. He had to modify certain aspects of his usual training (helmets with speakers were just not going to work) but it was full steam ahead. The guy is just a total legend.
Mark has had three days of one-to-one training. He is confident in controlling the kite and in safety (body-dragging etc) so now on to the next step. Damo gave some referrals for that to happen, as we continue our journey south.
To describe Damo as a fun, professional, experienced, confidence-building life-changer begins to paint the picture.
If you are half-interested in kite-surfing, it seems to me, there is no better place to start and no better person to start with!

Definitely the best place to learn Kitesurfing! The water is clear, warm, you are always on your feet, you can see sublime marine animals and Damo passes on his knowledge with unfailing patience, calm and pedagogy!
We quickly became independent thanks to him. He also directed us to other spots and other instructors in Australia for when we continue our trip, but also booked some surprises and gave good advice outside of kitesurfing!
If you are French-speaking this is the perfect place for you 'cause he speaks your language, but the lessons can obviously be done in English and it seems to me in other languages, ask him to know it! Always with equipment in very good condition.
We will definitely come back to this little corner of paradise:)

Damien is a very experienced kitesurfing teacher. He is professional, patient and calm. The lessons are done in a good mood. I always felt safe. I was a little stressed at the idea of ​​starting kitesurfing but Damien was able to give me confidence.
The spot is perfect for learning kitesurfing because the water is shallow.

Shark bay is the perfect spot to learn or progress your kitesurfing. Shallow, flat water, consistent wind and breathtakingly beautiful surroundings make it ideal. Damo’s instruction is top notch, with an emphasis on safety as well as fun.

Fantastic, Nicholson Pt is one of the better spots I've kited with the cleanest wind. A welcoming local crew, nearby Denham conveniences, a World Heritage environment and warm water. Damo @ SBK is based there and can show you the rest of what Shark Bay has to offer.it's a special place.

I have already experienced some kite schools and stations through my kite trips, Shark Bay kitesurfing is an absolute highlight. Damien's passion for kite sport, his competence, enthusiasm and ability to pass on knowledge is excellent. Whether you have a problem with the kite, need information about the local kite spots or just need advice or an explanation, he will be happy to help you at any time. His helpfulness and friendliness are just extraordinary.
The various spots in Shark Bay also offer everything a kiter's heart desires and it does not matter whether you are just starting kitesurfing or are already an experienced kiter. The backdrop is breathtaking, the underwater world unique and the sundowner unforgettable.
I will miss it.

I can say with confidence that Damien is one of the best instructors in Kitesurfing that I have come across. Not only is he professional but also a very sympathetic individual who is able to connect with his students. My daughter took several lessons with Damien and is well on her way to becoming an independent kiteboarder. I hope to be back in Denham with my son so that he can also get hooked on kiteboarding as well. I highly recommend Shark Bay Kitesurfing School.

Damien, der Chef von Shark Bay Kitesurf, ist ein super freundlicher Mensch, gibt gerne Auskunft über hiesige Spots und ist immer hilfsbereit. Er fuhr uns mit seinem Auto bereits zum Spot ohne, dass klar war ob wir überhaupt etwas bei ihm buchen.
Am Ende sind wir mit ihm einen Down Winder von Denham bis Big Lagoon gefahren, tolle Erfahrung! Im seichten Wasser sieht man Schildkröten, Rochen und kleine Haie vor einem her schwimmen. Als Abschluss gab es noch den "Bring Me Home" Service per Allrad durch den Francois Peron Nationalpark.

Damo took us out twice for a downwinder - AMAZING! Sharkbay is such a beautiful area for a downwinder, flat waters, beautiful landscape and you see little sharks, rays and turtles swimming around you everywhere!

Furthermore, Damo is a great guy, heaps of fun and even though he just broke his rib he was happy to kite with us. The cold beers after the session were the best way to end a perfect day!
