63Unfortunately not what it once was, giant corporate owners are money grubs plain and simple. Customer service yeah nah. Just never ending premium increases, last year was 11% and at the time I did get a better quote from enthusiast insurance but I thought is a couple bucks a week worth the hassle so I did exactly what they want and renewed with Shannons. This year 18.6%, after an email circle jerk with Shannons/Suncorp I did a quote again at enthusiast insurance and what do you know it's pretty much exactly the same as they quoted me 12mnths previously with a lower excess by $100 and the premium is $18 per month cheaper. Apparently a lot of ex Shannons/Suncorp customers are now going to enthusiast insurance instead. Kinda makes the story behind the premium rises a joke at Shannons if I got a near identical quote 12mnth apart from the competition.
These guys have great support over the phone. Last time I called to add something to my policy they let me know that it was already covered, when they could've easily taken more of my money if they wanted to.
I know they can be a bit pricier than the "cheap" car insurance places, but when you drive something a bit more unique than most it's hard to go past these guys.
I cannot express how much I regret signing up to this insurer. I lodged a not at fault claim as my car was hit in a carpark. Everything was captured on CCTV and lodged with the police including everything required to follow up the hit and run driver. Shannons has not stopped harassing me and demanding me to pay the excess despite having done absolutely nothing to chase up the at fault driver who damaged my car. Plus every phone call to follow up/deal with incorrect information from their team has had “longer that average wait times” of 45-60mins to get through only to receive conflicting information. I’m not going to have my pride and joy repaired by Shannon’s. So even if Shannon’s doesn’t do what I’m paying them for and chase up the at fault driver I would never go through them to handle the repair therefore no excess would ever be applicable. The only positive experiences I have had with them is when renewing my policy and increasing my premium. They might have once been the company for car enthusiasts but that certainly is no longer the case based on how they treat their clients.
Shannons are excellent! I pay a premium for a premium service and they always deliver, any claims ive ever made have been effortless and promt. They are perth based which is a huge tick, cover custom and modified vehicles and i think are fairly priced considering what rare vehicles i insure.

I am personally disgusted and offended in the service offered by Shannon's insurance. Shannon's not able to ensure my vehicle due to its value and me not having previously owned a vehicle of the value advised. Shannon's are always keen to take my money for all my other business and vehicles currently insured. Disappointed! I personally do not recommend, Shannon's you have lost my business.recommend the service
I have cars, bikes and house insurance with Shannons, On hold time is nuts, the virtual assistant is hopeless, staff are good to deal with when you actually get to talk with them
Made a claim, supposed to get choice of repairer but told to go to only one. Contacted (tried 5 times) shannons by phone and by email (twice) but after 5 days no response. Shannons service was good once. NOT ANYMORE!
6 weeks now to process my claim and still no end in sight
Try phoning them but 2 out of 3 times while waiting upto an hour get cut off before even speaking with a person.
Update details on there site they say, Can't do that either.

The absolute worst experience after someone crashed into my car. It was over a 2 month process. The tow truck company further damaged my car and got away with it- I got no update calls in regards to where my car was and only for it to be written off due to the further damage.
This was extremely stressful and has left me in a bad mental state.
SNOBBED OFF, Got recommended by a family member that has multiple policies with them. I decided to give them a call and got asked a few questions. To cut a long story short I was told I was not eligible for insurance becasue I don't own a "Sunday Car" or a car im working on as well. I have a second car it's just not in my name and the car I was trying to insure was brand new.
Was quite a shock and almost embarrassing for myself. I Wouldn't want anyone else to go through that.
From what I've heard they are good service though my interaction was far from pleasurable couldn't rate them worse.
Worst call centre, if you make a claim it takes so long to get a hold of a claim person then to book inba repair it takes so long to try and book in a hire car takes so long u are on the phone for 1 hour plus when u get to speak to someone they tell u the better times to call theres no good times to call
Wow what has happened to Shannons. I have 6 cars insured with them never had to call them but when I had it was always answered nice and quickly, service was always great. I have been on hold for over an hour now, they have robot asking you questions that can't understand anything. They have gone to the dogs. Amazing fantastic company now just like any other. Well back to RAC I go they seems to have people you can still talk to.

Discussing after this I am going to another insurance company I have been on the phone for over an hour waiting for some to discuss my repairs. They said 50 mimt wait time I have been on here since 12 10 pm an am still on here at 1.15pm. Not happy
We have all our vehicles insured with Shannons, including roadside assistance. I have found them professional to deal with, very competitive with pricing, and the roadside assist package is awesome (covers all our vehicles for a very reasonable price). The only criticism I have is it is extremely difficult to get through to them on the phone - you are looking at a minimum 30 minute wait on hold, and frequently much longer - once you get through the staff are polite and helpful, but the waiting is ridiculous - please consider employing more phone staff!
What's happened to Shannon's over the last year? The customer service they were well known for has completely gone! On hold over a hour and given up 3 times. No reply to emails. Time to go elsewhere: (
I have several motorbikes and cars insured through shannons and I wrote off a motorbike so needed to make my first claim and was interested in how they dealt with this. I'm really impressed with the overall experience especially in getting my bike processed, but a little slow on sorting helmet and boots replaced but the bike was the main thing. If you need to ring I admit it took a long time in que but with East Coast floods I gather that didn't help so to be fair that's expected. So I read a lot reviews and I've dealt with insurance companies throughout my 55 years and I can recommend shannons were very professional and sympathetic to my needs
There are thousands of honest Australians forced into bankruptcy due to Covid-19, or volatile mortgage and housing markets, loss of income or any number of reasons. But this company criminalises them, citing potential to do insurance fraud as a reason to refuse insurance to honest people with unblemished insurance histories and no criminal history.
Bankrupt or not. Go Elsewhere!
They didn't keep me informed about what was happening to my car after my claim. The first time I heard they had decided to write it off was not from them but from the Department of Transport.
We have 4 cars insured with you and am now seriously considering taking our business elsewhere despite ringing and being on hold for for 2 hours at a time several times and emailing myclaims we are still waiting on our insincere claim to be settled since before Easter. This leads me to question what if my car was not able to be driven. Are we just without a car for months on end? Next step will be the insurance ombudsman as we are not able to contact you or get a response.
