Salon Express Garden City

Friendly staff to greet and book appointment at 2.30. Explained what I required. Waited till 3.30 till hairdresser approached me. Asked re my colour/ then cut. Very little if any interaction otherwise/ no conversation/ appeared disinterested during the colouring stage. Going through the motions. Then told my time for a haircut was not possible. However, left at 5.00.
Am from Melbourne and never experienced such disregard for a client. She said they would reduce the price for no haircut.
However, not the point, now required to look elsewhere and another day.
I would not recommend this hair salon.
Other stylists were interacting with clients.
Interesting but unacceptable from my point of view.

Lucy is my favourite, before she came to your salon I had my hair cut by her for 8 years and followed her to your salon

Previous visits have resulted in a good cut although I know from experience to double the wait time they quote me on.
Went in mid week for cut and colour. After a consultation my chosen colour was applied by a young lady of Irish descent. I was then left for the colour to take. After 45minutes I began to worry but then same lady told me to take a seat at the basin.
Watched and waited whilst everyone had their hair washed. Another 10 minutes my seat was reclined, the massage function switched on and again just left. Over an hour later my hair was finally washed by same dark haired lady who had no problem in displaying her annoyance at me.
Finally got a nice haircut from another lady but left the salon really upset. Scalp has been itchy ever since. Absolutely unacceptable way to treat customers, definitely not recommended.

Actually would give it minus stars. Hair colour convinced to do one i didnt like but worst, when i came out my ears were full of clumps of wet
hair dye. No kidding! And my shirt had hair dye stains all over it. So bad.

The day before new years last year (New year's 2022) I decided I wanted to be a full blonde. Blonde, not orange. They charged me around 350 dollars for the bleach, blow dry and hair straightening. I asked them to go blonde and have more blonde highlights like on the photo I sent them. They just put bleach on my hair and toner, charged me for the expensive toner which still didn't stop my hair from being orange. My result would have been the same if I bought bleach from woolies and did it at home. I think this salon only cares about taking people's money and don't really care about the clients results.

Hair stylist fabulous as she listened & it showed with the result. Shampooing was a bit rough with water splashed on face & in a ear. Not a lot but it was obvious she was distracted. The same area kept getting shampooed & conditioned. It wasn’t too bad but uncomfortable & she didn’t even notice. This didn’t take away from the great job the stylist did

My daughter used this salon on the weekend, she had previously been to show them a photo of how she wanted her hair colour done. She was at the salon for several hours and was given a million excuses about the colour she wanted she was too shy to speak up as she has just come out of a domestic violence relationship so her self esteem is very low she had saved the the money to get her hair done.to give herself a bit of a lift of spirit
I couldn't believe how they ripped her off they didn't give her the colour she wanted neither achieved the outcome she had asked for yet they had the nerve to charge her almost $300 when she walked out of the salon i knew she wasn't happy I didn't want to say anything to her as I knew she was upset. Later on I spoke to her and td her i had spoken to a friend who has been a professional hair dresser for 30 years experience and told her what they had done and she said to me that salons don't like to spend to much of their products and that the outcome should've been 10 times better than what they did. She spoke to my daughter and told her they had ripped her off. Please don't go to this people this was heartless and unfair how can they do this im sure my daughter isn't the first they've done this to but hopefully she's the last that's why I wanted to put my review on here.

I was afraid to go back after a terrible cut that left me looking like a 70s poodle head. Previous to this I had good experiences at the salon, so today I plucked the courage and went back after 6 months. I'm glad I did. I requested a different person do my hair and the lady I had was professional and did a great job trimming the layers. I was pleased with the results. It was a long wait, but considering the price, it's worth it and I'm really happy to leave a positive review this time. It's just a pity you can't request to have the same person again or I would give 5 stars.

Extremely lovely staff! Second time coming back to get my layers refreshed. Served once again by a wonderful hairdresser who I forgot to get the name of (who told me she was from Mauritius). She was kind, bubbly and patient when I asked her step by step what was happening. I loved how she listened for exactly what I wanted from the reference photos and talked me through everything with a smile. I'll be coming back:)

Had a amazing experience here, I walked in only knowing how I wanted my hair cut and told my hairdresser she can do whatever she wants to my hair lighter, darker is doesn't matter and she was so excited for it which was amazing (she chose blonde). Not going to lie I wasn't to sure about it at first (because I have never lightened my hair) with the salons white lights but once I got into more natural lighting it looked absolutely amazing and I love it.

The hairdresser doing my hair knew her stuff whilst colouring my hair, was courteous, and welcoming. Recommend them for their selection of staff!

I talked about taking an inch or two off and the hairdresser showed me how much she was taking off (about 2 inches) before proceeding to take 4 to 5 inches off the back of my head before i noticed.
It was too late to keep it longer so now my long hair is gone, she did a terrible hack job on my fringe but I ran out of there instead of asking her to fix it because at least if I fix it myself I know I won't take too much off. I asked for a blowdry before I left so I could see the damage and she took out a bottle of heat protectant and then never used it. My haircut is extremely simple and I've never had a hairdresser so thoroughly ignore what we have just discussed and leave me so upset, it'll take a year to get back to how my hair was.

Had a colour and trim blow-dry, I paid $330, my hair sit on my shoulders was charged for xx long hair. I find this to be a rip off
The salon was busy, went to get colour washed out returned to my seat to find another hairdresser cutting someone's hair there. 3.5 hour and $330 later, won't be going back. Felt like they were to busy to really pay attention to me and my hair. Won't be going back

50% of the time it works every time.
Literally, I've been here about 6 times, 3 times I've had to go back to get my hair fixed, the other 3 were great haircuts! Ya just never know!

Front of desk very friendly as is all the staff. The young stylist I had recently and in the past visit is efficient, friendly & listen to the customer

Excellent service from Hini my hairdresser, so friendly and professional and awesome stylist. Have used Salon Express for 11 years, Rebecca and her team are all friendly and helpful. To be honest I wouldn't go anywhere else, always a great service. Rebecca should be proud of what she's achieved here. Special thanks to Hini. Have a wonderful Christmas guys.

Used to get good haircuts here when the kiwi bloke worked here, but i had to get a haircut from a Pakistani lady who didn't know what she was doing and cut my hair so unevenly that its hard to not notice it. The work done around the ears is particularly bad and i won't be returning as I'm scared I'll receive the same poor treatment.

Use to be ok when the kiwi barber was there and the older italian dude that does mens cuts is great. Last and final experience the lady was going crazy fast and then i had to tell her to stop.

Had a new lady do my cut and she did do a great job but by the time she finished, the original lady had smashed through about 5 or 6 guys. All that and then $45 For a fade.

Lads if you want a fade, go elsewhere.
