I always seem to get novice vets more eager to upsale on procedures, and not focusing on what the appointment is for.
Flying overseas with my dog and to arrange vaccinations, and novice vet spent more time trying to upscale dental teeth extraction and knee surgery procedures than paying attention to health checks and what vaccinations were required.and the issuing a certificate that was practically useless. Having to email them to rectify what should've been straight forward.
Go to SAGE Booragoon, as they are way way better.

I saw Dr Gerard with my dog some time ago. Throughout the consult he forgot my dogs name several times and referred to my dog as a female despite me correcting him each time. My dog underwent expensive tests and was put on expensive medication. I was told that he would need to take these meds for the rest of his life. The medication made no difference to the issues my dog was having. I have since seen an independent vet for a second opinion and they confirmed that my dog was incorrectly diagnosed with what they described as the latest fad diagnosis. The vet nurses are lovely but I don't trust the vet I saw and will never return.

They were very good with the passing of my Millie. They even took her footprints and sent them to me with a nice card

Every single person at Sage was an absolute delight.
Even though I had to make a hard decision to say goodbye to my beautiful doggo, they made the transition so smooth.
They took their time explaining everything, went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and their compassion was next to none.
Thankyou Sage

Sage vets take care of my treasured doggo and budgie. Unfortunately my dear old 13 year old budgie was unwell and I must say, Stephany and the team took great care to put my pet to rest and support me. I really appreciated their kind and gentle care on a difficult day, they went above and beyond. Thankyou Sage vets!

My dog suffers desperately with anxiety. Attended Sage Vets South St and had the most helpful and caring staff member named Cortnee. Thank you for your help and care with Rex.

My boy Arlo was treated perfectly and was never under any duress at all. It was a delight to know he was in such good care

My partner and I are currently travelling Australia full time and attended Sage Vets on South St when a wound on our pup’s paw opened up. It upsets me to write this review but we are feeling really disappointed and slightly frustrated with the customer service and lack of organisation with staff being on different pages.

After having Dusty put under to be operated on, we had three calls, from three different staff, saying three different things.

Staff member 1 advised he should be ready at 4: 00pm, whilst calling him the wrong name several times during the call.

Staff member number 2 explained that they’re not 100% sure what time he will be ready, so we would receive a call to let us know when to come.

We waited for that call and were phoned by staff member number 3 advising us at 4: 20pm that we had missed Dusty’s discharge time at 4: 00pm despite the fact we were told to wait for the call before coming.

We had actually been sitting out the front of the vet waiting for the call to pick him up as we were eager to collect him. It’s disappointing that he was ready, and we were not notified as the staff’s wires obviously got crossed.

Upon arrival, we were given the bill and Dusty’s medication and that was that. I actually had to request for the staff to tell me what had happened in Dusty’s operation rather than that information being forth coming. Not only is Dusty extremely important to us, I also paid over $1,000.00 and had no idea what for until I pressed for information.

We do feel that Dusty was cared for, however we feel that we were left in the dark and had to press for information rather than the staff helping us understand exactly what was going on. We were to go back for a follow up but due to travelling we have to go elsewhere. Even if we were still in the location, we would be finding another vet to attend.

I would highly recommend Tamara, there was awesome aftercare of my animal who had a previous bad reaction to a vaccine and the second time around they looked after her so well!

As I was not able to email the clinic successfully I had no choice but to leave my concerns here.

Dear Manager,

I am emailing you in regards to my recent visits to sage vets Bull Creek and South Street clinics and would like to lodge a formal complaint in written.

On Monday 29th of November 2021 my cat Chi Chi received minor abscess/wound surgery to have his right back paw treated. Previously he had received some antihistamine and anti-inflammatory medication but NOT antibiotics as the vet we saw on the 27th of November at the Bull Creek clinic did not suggest an infection could also be possible. We received a vet bill of a total of $1175.10 for this treatment. Not long after his procedure, on the 14th of January 2022, we noticed some mild swelling on the same back paw and took him back to the South Street clinic as the Bull Creek clinic had no appointment available that day.

We had another consultation on the 14th of January and were charged $79 for the same problem which was previously managed surgically but failed to resolve, and upon checking out we informed your receptionist Maddison that we would like to have a copy of Chi Chi’s clinical notes emailed to myself, she then advised me that your clinic does not release records to pet owners and it was your ‘clinic policy’. I then queried whether she is aware of relevant policies made by the Veterinary Surgeons’ Board of Western Australia, she replied back saying ‘no’ she is ‘not aware of the board policy’ but she can’t email me chichi’s clinic notes' as it is the ‘clinic’s policy’.

My main concerns are:
(1) Why wasn’t infection considered as a differential diagnosis when I took Chi Chi to the Bull Creek clinic on the 27th of November 2021. No antibiotics was prescribed despite the fact that the patient's clinical symptoms were localised swelling, increased blood flow/skin redness and increased localised temperature. Instead Chi Chi was given anti-inflammatory and anti-histamine, and when symptoms did not improve a surgery was recommended without offering antibiotics. I asked the vet surgeon who consulted us on the 14th of January why infection wasn’t included in the differential diagnosis, his answer was ’ I guess it just didn’t come to that vet’s mind’. This to me is not satisfactory and I am concerned that the care Chi Chi received was below the applicable reasonable standard, and that there may have been breach of duty of care;

(2) I would like to have an explanation on your pricing policy as Chi Chi requires at least one more follow up appointment in 7 days to have his paw reviewed, do I need to pay for another consultation fee for the same problem, and is it ethical for the South Street clinic to charge me for a consultation fee on the 14th of January considering I have already paid over one thousand dollars for the same issue and it has not been resolved;

(3) Are all your clinical staff have the appropriate level of training/up to scratch in terms of adhering to WA vet board’s requirement and guidelines as your receptionist Maddison was clearly not aware of the board’s guidelines on record release.

Thank you for reading my email and I look forward to your reply. I am hoping to have my concerns addressed in a timely manner so I do not have to take these matters further to the veterinary practitioners registration board of western australia.

Kind regards,

Chi Chi’s mum Maggie

We went to this Vet recently with our dog. They were very friendly. We had a consultation and was given medication for 10 days at the cost of $154.83 as our dog had an infection at the back of his paw pad. We were told to come back in 3 days to see how things were going. We arrived at the surgery 3 days later, a different Vet came into the reception where we were sitting, he looked at the dogs Paw and asked us, how did we think it was going? He would not know as it was a different Vet. He was with us for less than 5 minutes still in the reception area. We were then told to make another appointment in 7 days and they charged us $49.50 for a 2 minute consult in the reception area. My husband questioned why we had to pay a 3 day follow up consult, when we just paid $154.83 and then 7 days later another $49.50? We were told that only if the dog is operated on is the follow up free. We do not contest to paying a follow up consult after 7 days. However 3 day and 7 day consult is just an expense that is unnecessary. Unfortunately we have 3 Dogs and 2 Cats so would never use this vet again.
