Ross's Auctioneers & Valuers reviews
29Great to deal with chirpy staff some bargains to be had easy access. A year on from my first posting i'm more impressed than ever. There was a muck up in the quantity of some roofing iron in a pack i won (almost impossible to count when it's in a stack). I contacted them and the cash was back in my bank in no time.this company and their staff are great.more than 5 star.
Had to collect some stuff for a friend so I had no idea what it was or where to go. But staff where helpful and friendly.
Made collection super easy and painfree
This place is good for auctionaries. If you follow them regularly you can find the product you need. Easy parking and good customer service
Understaff waited for long time to be able to collect my stuff.
Again, they are advertising that their trading hours from 8.00 am but when I'm here, they told me I have to wait for half an hour!
Great place to grab a bargain, as long as you have a general idea of what price should be.
Well run online auctions. Great customer service with very friendly and helpful staff. Always a joy to deal with.
Pathetic, Would recommend going some where else this company is all about moving stock NO CUSTOMER service at all. Rude at reception
A slick well run business, just need to underline when things are not auctioned at the Welshpool site.
My new home. Here once a week grabbing a deal. Great staff, always ready to show you around ot help where and when they can. Even borrowed me straps for some gear I bought there as I'd forgotten my own at the yard.
We at Professionals 5 Star Realty, love that the guys helped our Owner's out with free tiles for small jobs. Amazing team down here
Lots of cheap stuff if you keep an eye out and know what you are looking at.
One of the better websites with a live countdown and live bids so you don't have to refresh the page all the time.
Best to know what you are bidding on price wise, DO YOUR RESEARCH or cry later.
Anything expensive GO AND INSPECT IT or cry later.
It must be drug money bidding on some stuff though, people seem to bid up to almost retail for some items.
Some crazy bidders out there BE CAREFUL.
I can't help but feel someone is buying items in house and reselling the following month. Several times of recent some workshop machinery with the same serial number has been sold. I have found some items to have other auction stickers half scrapes off. Anyway, overall some good bargains are to be made of you have plenty of time to clean the rust off.
Happy with the reply from management. (changed from 3 to 4)
I bought some led lighting from Rosss, turns out there are no drivers for the lights. Turns out i cant even buy the drivers. Lot marked as new, no mention of no drivers. Then i notice 'no driver' is even written on the box. $300 spent on lemons. That part of the box is NOT visable in the photos. Deliberate deception.
Then i call and get a very rude response, and was told to send an email, a week later and no response.
Very unhelpful. I spend 20k with their competitors such as gregsons. Not sure I'll ever spend much with Ross's. I'd
advice unless you have time to make sure you are buying exactly what you are looking at dont ever consider looking.
The gear that goes through that place is amazing and the staff are always friendly and helpful.
One of Western Australia's best auction houses. Buyer beware. There are bargains but there can be overbidding! Know what your buying and stick to your buying plan!
Ross's is an auction house so buyer beware all of can say is "Know the price you want to pay for items your bidding on. "
I've been both buying and selling stuff here at Ross's since moving to Perth in the '80's and have always had positive experiences.
Previous to Covid 19 the destinct lack of detailed or accurate description complement by a single pixelated or blurred image meant that you would often have to take a gamble as to whether the product you had won was worth the money or a complete failure.
When Covid 19 came in, I spoke to one of the staff and they said that because they cannot hold traditional auctions or allow people to inspect the goods, that they would have to improve the descriptions and number of photos that were shown online which would of saved me the time to come in and inspect the goods.
However, since that conversation nothing has changed at all which I find extremely frustrating. These frustrations have lead me to purchase items located in other states from other auction houses because the images and description provide the confidence to do so.
Details of areas requiring major Improvement for online auctions
PHOTOS
1. Multiple Images should be taken from each of the sides, both internally and externally if the object is large like a sea container or where it would assist the purchaser to ascertain the quality of the goods. For example, it is a bit much for members to bid on catering equipment selling for thousands of dollars based on 1 image. You are potentially missing out on other bidders and therefore income.
2. Images should be clear and not pixelated. For example you constantly have pallets of gear stacked up and 1 pixilated image of all of it. This is especially disappointing when you have asked politely shortly after the auction has opened to have a poor quality image replaced, only to find that it is never actually replaced, so you just end up not asking or buying the product
3. Separation of multiple items in photos would go along way to increasing the likelihood of bidders increasing the value of the bid if they could see half of the items. Instead, if there is multiple items what tends to happen is that those items which are clearly visible in the wider shots have more closeup images taken with typically, only 1 image of the rest or a pointless image of the manufacturers badge which has already been included in the description.
4. Over time I have noticed that there appears to be a tendancy to include only images of the item which shows it in the best light. This goes directly to Ross's integrity as a company and makes me and others reviewers, hesitate on bidding on items unless you can spare the time to inspect them in person which you don't always have. I have personally purchased items where, had the image been taken from the other side of a 2 sided object, I would have been better informed. Another example is when a key item being auctioned as part of a larger quantity of goods has a defect covered up by other items being placed. This particular fault is mainly evident in large mining, airport and police auctions.
5. The images do not allow you to zoom in unless you have to either saved/downloaded the image to a file or folder or, open it on another web browser page. This is annoying given that many websites allow you to click on the image to enlargen it and zoom in without having to do either of those steps.
6.1 photo of the case is not sufficient detail to feel confident that there is actually something inside.
To clarify, Im not expecting 6 images taken from all 4 sides, the top and base for each cigarette lighter in a bag of 50 which is sells for $20. What I would however appreciate is a quantity, of quality images, including close ups of the faults where applicable please.
DESCRIPTION
1. The descriptions are minimal and often incorrect. I understand that there would be many industry specific items that unless you have worked in it would be impossible to describe, thats a given. What Im talking about are mainstream items where the description has been cut and pasted incorrectly. This again reduces the faith bidders have in Ross's Auctioneers especially, when you point it out and it remains unchanged.
2. More detailed and consistent descriptions.
Just tried to bid in the closing minutes of an auction, but missed out because i had to log out then log back in to get my bid accepted, by which time the auction had closed.ppp, sort out your I. T ross's!
5 stars to the staff who are great to deal with.
-4 stars to the manager. Who after a genuine mix up with the description of a lot. Pointed to the paperwork and said "what does this say".
Every other online buying format has photos forming part of the description. R. I. P $20.70.
All I wanted was the tubs that were in the photo. Can you see how possibly I thought they were included?
It is a good tactic though. Just put a Ferrari or a wad of $50 notes in each photo and I'm sure you could scrape together some more bids.
