Absolutely appalling! Over 12 months months since the sale of estate assets, and over 12 months since they have allowed a claimant, made 2 years after the notice of intent to claim, to provide proof ie receipts, documents. 6 years this Estate has been in the Trustee's administration. Email's go unanswered. Phone calls go unanswered. They are still waiting on the claimant. How long does a claimant get before the Administrator moves to finalise this estate?

Legal Thieves!
Charges against your Estate are HIGH @ 16.7% PA.
IN a matter of a few year's The Public Trustee have expunged all of the Estate's worth, then they sell your property to recoup their fraudulent "Administration fee's" leaving you bankrupt and/or homeless.
There's No REAL GOVERNANCE OR ACCOUNTABILITY to the dealings of the Public Trustee, complaints go on deaf ears.
"You better get a lawyer son, you'd better get a real good one! "
I Suggest you look at the findings of the government inquires into the public trustee's in Qld. Vic and Tasmania.
They're just a Fraudulent Organisation who will deceive, lie, cheat and steal from you.
Avoid them like the Plague!

We found the people in Perth very friendly. We could chat to them and felt comfortable. We have changed our will over the years so we have no complaints so far

I had a will previously with the public trustee, I had the rudest solicitor I can find answer my query, said she couldn't do a will as I had a family trust even though all I wanted to do to the old will was change the children from dependents and requiring a guardian to "of age". Accused me of swearing at her which I didn't so I used a solicitor and will never use these people again

The Public Trustee has managed my finances for the last 8 years. I found all three of my trust managers during this time to be kind, compassionate and professional. Temporary Managers while sick are sometimes rude though.

My Mum’s estate was with the Public Trustee and they were nothing but professional. While it was long and drawn out (thanks to an unhelpful family member), from my experience the Public Trustee have the power and knowledge to deal with complicated matters – legal, admin or personal - and will get the job done. I was involved in the administration of another family estate in the past and it was a lengthy and trying process. I was relived this burden was taken off my plate this time round!

Do not touch this mob. No communication, no progress, and over 11k so far, with still no resolution or sense of urgency. A lawyer would have wrapped this up sooner and for less money. I feel more scr#ed over with this mob than I could have ever imagined. It was supposed to be easier on all, rather it has been stressful. Do not use these people.

I had an absolutely appalling experience at the Public Trustee in Perth! When I started asking some of my very basic questions I was responded to very quickly with, "You won't care as you will be dead". I also received personal opinion on a number of matters where there is no place for that. I think you'll find there are other cost effective ways using private enterprise to have your will drawn up that will involve professionalism. I think the response I received as quoted above says it all. Please do not use this organisation! I implore you to seek professional, courteous, impartial and expert advice elsewhere. I would have rated no stars if the review would have allowed.

Worst experience as it stressed my dad to breaking point in which he then gave up on life got cancer and died, my Nana followed Now have been told my family won't get there inheritance. So Wills don't matter anymore? If we go to court and all goes well I'll give a better review. Can't understand how they can take people's money who are grieving. Very confused and devastated.

The WA Public Trustee may only charge $50 to do your Will but be careful if you nominate them to be your executor - they charge nearly $300 an hour to administer your estate!
I pushed to know what it would cost my estate (and beneficiaries) and they eventually coughed up the figure $282 per hour. This rate is competitive with rates offered by law firms specializing in Wills and Estate Administration, so cheap Will is where the favor ends.
I rang in and asked for clarification because I was left feeling confused on this point by what is written at their website, which states: "Charges will be levied against your estate after death and then only if your estate requires formal administration. " So what's "formal administration"?
Turns out that is any Will that requires a grant of probate to be obtained from the Supreme Court, and such grant is required wherever there is any real estate to be sold, or cash assets in accounts where the bank or financial institution (including super) requires a grant of probate to release funds (varies, but seems to be anything over $10 to $20k). So I think it could safely be said that the majority of wills require 'formal administration'. Only wills where the person died without any real estate or very little money wouldn't require it.
I really think the Public Trustee should set out clearly the circumstances in which they will charge to administer after your death, what they will charge for, and what their current hourly rate (s) are (I think the rates are set by Parliament). I think the public have a right to know.
Now as for what sorts of things they can charge for, well it seems to be just about everything they do. Bear in mind that sorting out an estate can take untold hours of work - 20-30 hours can clock up easily with all the paperwork, phone calls, travel and attendance, and there's getting in and sorting through all the contents as well - and that would be a fairly small uncomplicated estate.
I have to admit I was also put off that I had to wait an hour and a quarter on the phone to speak to someone, and that getting info was like getting a blood out of stone - not something I'd want my beneficiaries to go through when grieving.
If you haven't got a family member who could be executor, you could still consider the Public Trustee, but ensure you are fully informed and that all is in line with your wishes and expectations.

My advice to ppl is seek legal advice first please. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE THE PUBLIC TRUSTEES.
I have a paid lawyer fighting them at the moment, as they are trying to loot my mothers estate while she is still alive, and vulnerable and suffering vascular dementia. She is in a aged facility.
My mother had in place with the citizens advice her original EPG and EPA and Will, she also had on a financial advisor. David Sharpe, who explained her finances to me, and said under no circumstances sell of her family home or use it as a financial institution, she will lose her aged pension and her heath entitlements.
This organisation actually sent via a lawyer a fabricated statement, that they paid my mothers $200k refundable to the aged facility she is in, and they wanted my mothers home sold so they could get back there funds. This however was not true, the funds came from my mothers financial accounts. They fraudulently had a lawyer pen that to paper. I had to contact the Attorney General, after contacting Bill Shortens office for some political and legal help.
The staff are rude, bullying and harassing and try to wear you down. My mothers health is my main concern. And I’m having to fight a institution that lacks empathy and compassion for family units. All they are about is greed and materialism.

AVOID THEM.

These guys were appointed as executor of my father’s estate earlier this year and I have to commend them. It was both a complex estate and family situation, and the entire process from start to finish was managed with professionalism and understanding towards the many family members involved - they know what they are doing.

Much like Jemma Sticken's dad, but not quite to that extent still pretty bad Im quite stressed from during this period of being on the public trustee. My heart rate was quite high just then at the gym, also incredibly anxious like there is no communication just a complete lack of it. My advice is never get put on these guys, they will give you quite a lot of stress and make it not an easy thing to do to even think about this feedback. Which I think given my anger and then panic at the gym earlier is just pretty standard and unfortunately there was another bit of feedback Id made just now, but didnt give the actual "star review". Also like Fiona Thompson, had this comment where I tried to find the cheapest gaming console possible where there was a comment from the trustee manager "You need money for moving out", has now happened but was about three months ago. Was in December ish when this happened, like completely irrelevant

The Public Trustee are thieves. They will steal your money and treat you worse than an animal. You're in real trouble if you end up with the Public Trustee administering your money to you
