Plunkett Homes

This was our second time building. First was with a small project builder in NSW. Amazing. The build itself was fantastic, and the site supervisor completely fastidious. For example, he called the tiler back to redo a square metre of tiling because it wasn’t done perfectly. The aftersales service was top notch. Nothing was a problem, and they understood completely that they had built the house and therefore were responsible for ensuring it met quality standards.

We built with Plunkett, handover June 2021. Over the past years there have been So. Many. Issues and if Facebook’s algorithm keeps giving me Plunkett ads celebrating ‘homes that last generations’ I think I might just have a breakdown.

From signing the initial deposit it’s been a truly disappointing journey with Plunkett.

Moving into a brand new home and finding gutters not fixed properly, end capping on roof fascia missing, gas hot water system unsealed, messy grout work, uneven flooring, poor paint job, gap between the main and garage slab meaning termites came through, wrong sealant used in wet areas, a huge pile of excess soil left behind the block, cracking window sills, grout cracking in shower… many of these things were rectified after a great deal of back and forth (and always in an adversarial manner) and almost always only after I threatened to leave a bad review.

And always we were told that the build was fine, that it was what we should expect in a project build, this despite their own promotional material promising, and I quote ‘luxe spec’, and a quality build and quality finish.

Our ‘quality finish’ at just over two years: carpet worn badly (builder’s range), appliances failing, sealant and grout needing replacement, pinholes in grout and paintwork, pavers lifting and so on. I’m just about to spend over $1000 on getting the shower regrouted- on a two year old home.

So there is our tale of two builders. Our first builder didn’t have to skite about industry awards and give out glossy brochures. They just made a promise that they would build a home that they’d build for a family member. The second promised luxe spec and quality for generations … what a disappointment.

Plunkett Homes have been around for many years. I have never heard a bad thing about them, they have a great reputation. So if your looking to build or want to buy, have a talk to the experts, I think you will be happy & satisfied.

Very helpful staff they looked after every item in contract, there were a couple of amendment's that were over looked unfortunately those could not be corrected but my money was offered back in an effort for forgiveness. House has come up well we are happy with it. ĺ

Couldn't have asked for a better finished house, they got every part of our design from start to finish exactly the way we wanted. So easy to deal with throughout the entire building process, will definitely use Plunkett should we ever build again.

Generally a pretty disappointing experience. Refused to accept any responsibility when they stuffed up, and tried to pin blame on everyone else. Could not recommend.

Awful! Front door frame moved out of place while house was still under warranty. Plunket homes refused to fix the problem and blamed me by saying I was slamming the front door. NEVER AGAIN!
