It has taken me a while to write this review but I had time to reflect and felt the need to share my thoughts as I would have loved to read one like this when I was looking into courses. I took this course in September 22.

After my first birth didn’t go as I ‘would have liked it to go’ I wanted to do everything to be more prepared the second time around.
A few months before my estimated due date I researched courses that could help me feel more confident. I found this one online. Great reviews so I thought - perfect. Emailing with the ladies was also truly lovely and I felt well taken care of. Before booking I communicated with the owner and was clear from the start that I was hoping to prep for a second birth, especially a VBAC. Unfortunately the date with their VBAC specialist didn’t work for my schedule and I was then recommended to see another lady who didn’t specialize in VBAC scenarios but was told this would also be brilliant for me. I booked my partner and myself in for a 2 Saturday session.

The location is lovely. The group was full. There were (I believe) 8 couples in a really small space. That was the first thing I didn’t enjoy as much. It was too crowded.
The educational bit was lovely and the lady knew for sure what she was talking about. It was also easy to listen to. The practical things were also informative and a nice to know and broke up the ‘listening’ part of the course.
Unfortunately, I felt like 80% of the info at the course were things you know if you have given birth before, have done a little research, have prepared on your own. There was nothing in the course that prepared me directly for a VBAC, it was most suitable for a first time birth.

All of the other seven couples were first time soon to be parents and I truly believe it was a nice course for them but my partner and I did not see an overwhelming amount of information we didn’t hear before. Of course, a refresher is nice and we did receive access to recordings and visuals we could use to further prep but we could have done that just as well without spending two long days at this course.

A tiny other thing that I didn’t find great was that the snacks we received (snacks are great especially for the pregnant ladies) were all out of date. Not the end of the world but I am just thinking that for the price we all paid, a few fresh snacks would have been nice.

I do understand that this is probably complaining on a rather high level and due to my specific circumstance - though again, this type of review would have been good to read while I was looking for a hypnobirthing course with a VBAC in mind.

Hope this helps someone.

My partner and I did a 4 week hypnobirthing course with Pip, and thoroughly enjoyed learning all about physiological birth. We loved the way the course was run - a good mix of theoretical and hands on knowledge, especially with the toolkit for relaxation methods. Pip is very knowledgeable and thorough with her research. She took time to look into our individual case/circumstance to offer her carefully researched advice, which we are very appreciative for. Doing this course has made us so much more confident about having a positive birth experience. 100% recommend it.

Couldn't recommend this course enough! It has completely changed my mindset and how I feel about childbirth. I've gone from feeling pretty overwhelmed and terrified to excited and ready for whatever comes our way. Pip's knowledge and passion is amazing and makes the classes enjoyable and interesting. I love that everything is linked back to evidence based research but that there is also an analysis of how applicable that research is to you as an individual. It was also great to do as a couple, I was previously a birthing partner to my friend and felt utterly helpless - I love that this really involves your partner and helps you prepare as a team.

Attended a 4 week hypnobirthing course with my partner recently and had a great experience. Anyone who wants to get prepped for birth and gain an understanding of the whole process and ways to manage it, look no further. We had Pip facilitating and she was excellent. Very knowledgeable and friendly. As a guy, I got a solid insight into how I can support my partner which is going to hopefully keep me in the good books

A males perspective:
I mentioned in weeks previous to this course that I had no idea how a birth works, what I have to do, whats expected of me or how I could support my wife. All of that changed after this course; I left feeling comfortable about what was happening and the gaps of knowledge I had were filled.

Although the "hypnobirthing" parts are probably very beneficial for my wife, I got the most out of the supporting information around how bodies work, how babies work, what an actual birth looks like and what I can do to make everything work smoothly, what options there are and what consequences are associated with those options.

I'd recommend this course for every couple, whether you are birthing in a hospital, birth centre or at home and whether or not you want to use the "hypno" part. I also recommend this course for any dudes out there that have no idea whats going on or what to expect. I wish this sort of thing was more mainstream and people were more aware of it.

Dads/ Soon to be Dads:
Do this course. It'll set you up to know whats going on and make the whole process easier to understand and make you useful at the same time.

Mums/Soon to be Mums:
Many mums who had a difficult first birth were at this course for their second. Many said they wish they'd learned these things before their first.

My Partner and I recently completed the hypnobirthing course with Pip Owen.
The course was packed with useful information, tools and was very empowering.
We were provided with scientific studies and data around the different birthing options and how to best prepare for the birth we wanted.
We also learnt many helpful hypnobirthing techniques and other natural techniques to help through labour.
One of the most liberating and reassuring aspects was learning to reframe our way of thinking about birth and how to remove fear and negative preconceived ideas around birth to allow ourselves to open up of minds to having a positive and empowering birth.
We are so grateful to Pip and the team at Hypnobirthing Australia for the great course they have put together and the continued support from them.
Definitely highly recommend them to everyone.

Highly recommend this course whether it’s your first birth or subsequent like ours! Pip is a wealth of knowledge and experience, she explains everything clearly in a way that is easy to understand (even with baby brain!). The resources and support provided are fantastic when compared to standard prenatal classes that only scratch the surface this course provides comprehensive information around birth, your baby and your choices.

Highly recommend this course for all parents expecting. This prepares you for an empowered and natural birth with help and guidance if circumstances change. Pip is extremely knowledgable and passionate about empowering couples to have the information they need to make choices for the birth they want. You walk away with so many tools and resources.

Dear Pip

Dan and I loved the course, and already feel it was such an important investment. I wanted to do it as a gift to myself to hopefully get that positive birth journey.

On Thursday night Dan and I went to our first parent ed class at the place we plan to have our baby. It was clear that a lot of the other couples did not have the same knowledge base about their options from the questions we were hearing, and this just reinfoced what we felt we got from the course.

Also I have read the whole 4th ed Mongan Method (hypnobirthing official book) and have to say the interactive format provided a lot more to me than just reading the book alone.

All the best, and a big thank you.

What an amazing course! I wish every pregnant woman knew about Perth Hypnobirthing. I have been recommending Hypnobirthing to everyone I know.
The tools and knowledge we learned have left us feeling empowered for the birth of our first child.
I couldn't recommend Pip higher, she was incredible and her knowledge is second to none. Thanks very much Pip for making this journey an enjoyable and positive one for both of us and for providing us with all of the tools we will need.
We are excited for the birth of our little girl and looking forward to a calm, positive birth experience after completing our Hypnobirthing.

Pip helped me to go into my birthing experience positively and confidently. What I learnt from her classes helped me to achieve something I know I otherwise would have been able to achieve. It's a shame not all pregnant women are exposed to hypnobirthing as labour and birth do not have to be a scary or painful experience, but can be very empowering.

It gives you the confidence and trust to have a beautiful birthing experience.
Pip is a wonderful teacher and we really loved her experience and knowledge on birthing and midwifery. She is very open and great at discussing the many birth related topics.

My husband and I found the classes very enjoyable - we've definitely been able to see the benefits of the relaxation exercises flow into so many other areas of our lives. Pip creates a wonderful, calm, positive and thoughtful environment in her classes. It has also been really lovely seeing our hypnobirthing preparation naturally bring us even closer as a couple and a team. We're really grateful to be equipped with the right tools to be ready to meet our baby, and I can confidently say that I'm actually really looking forward to the birth (something that I'd never thought hear myself say!) and I feel myself being more ready as each day goes on.

I would highly recommend Pip and the Hypnobirthing course to any expectant parents! My husband and I didn't know exactly what to expect, we found Pip to be very knowledgeable and the information presented was always balanced and evidence based. It certainly wasn't a "fluffy"/"hippy" or anti- hospital system course. We felt supported and empowered for our birth choices with a private hospital and obstetrician. The course really is for anyone from home birth to cesareans. Pip obviously works hard on staying on top of current research and studies. I am feeling confident and positive about my upcoming birth, thanks to Pip and Hypnobirthing.
