Get my son in for surgery at 8: 30am, make him fast from 4am. Still sitting here at 1: 30pm with a starving, unhappy child. Why not just let the poor thing have breakfast if he’s going to be sitting waiting all day. Ridiculous

My daughter had 102 deg fever and shivers. When we entered emergency at 6.30 pm we were told wait time is 5hrs, we understood as there were so many kids and parents waiting and decided to wait for our turn to see doctor as my daughter was getting on and off fever. On top of it she had cold, cough and conjunctivitis. When it was 12.45 am (after 6 hrs of wait time) To our shock we were told to wait for another 6hrs to see the doctor in the morning or nurses said you can go home. As a parent that is the last thing I want to hear after waiting for 6 hrs.

Is this the way kids with illness treated in hospitals? Is this the right thing?

If my daughter is not in priority triage and they deem it as not an emergency they could have told us after couple of hours that it’s not an emergency, we can consult a GP next day.

I am not here to blame the nurse or doctor, but if they are overworked and reached the breaking point, then govt should increase the staff in Emergency Department.

After so much of drama and questioning the triage nurse on the wait time communicated and other details and actual time taken and asking them to do the right thing, my daughter was seen by a doctor. Finally! We were out after 8hrs (if I had kept quite maybe we would have spent another 6hrs or more in so called Perths Children Hospital Emergency department to see the doctor)

Is this how it works! Maybe it is!

Wish I could give some negative rating here (let’s give one star as my daughter finally got a chance to consult with a doctor) and pray that we never want to be in a situation to visit this hospital for consultation.

Our sick 9 month old has been waiting more than 3 hours to be seen. Absolutely shocking for a hospital in Australia! How is this lack of service allowed?

It’s been 3 hours still no doctor coming to check my child. It’s seems like they are prioritising the whites people than the Asian and Indian one. This is our second time coming back the first one we went home because of the waiting time is too long. What happened to the hospital system now. Nurses doesn’t care he brought us in the room without putting down the hospital bed as it was too high for my 5 years old to climb up in the bed and lie down. Luckily the others nurse came in and help us pull the bed down and asked me which nurse brought us in! He said it’s “ it’s too dodgy” Seems like no hope in the hospital system anymore.

I don’t believe that an emergency department asks us to wait for more than 3hours with a sick baby in our arms. I was there at 10: 30pm and waited untill 1am but how long are the gonna test mums strength. My husband was not allowed inside because of covid protocols. I could have waited there but my sick baby was getting cranky waiting for that long. I could see other mums facing the same problem. We are just provided with a chair to sit for more than 3 hours…seriously! Its my mistake that I thought ED would provide better health care than gp. Hiwever, here we are tired at home without meeting the doctor and my baby is still sick but getting a good rest. Ofcourse there are nurses around but we can’t expect them to help them with our baby since they dnt allow the fathers. Or should we? I even saw some mother’s returning. And i know I will be charged of not meeting the doctor. Correct me if I am wrong. If they deem that my baby was not that serious, they could at least give us an option.

Very bad experience. We are here for son from last 24 hours. Unfortunately they don't have any Doctor in emergency. Only Nurses here who they are looking after patients. Nurses are very rude & none perfeasional. Keep away your children from this hospital. They have already killed one south indian girl few weeks ago. Very careful when you visit this hospital.

Extremely biased and uncaring hospital staff. Multiple prior bad experiences, recwbt experience with my 4 year old daughter who was recommened to attend emergency by Heathdirect nurse. On arriving at hospital after almost 3 hours a nurse did some base checks and asked to wait for doctors. Every other kid around (mostly white patients) around was attended by doctors at least once while my wife and kid were left waoting. As the child was gettingbtired and desperate we had to leave without seeing doctor. Noone was even willing to talk. Is this how you look after little kids. Absolutely horrible experience. Even after death of a child in their custody they havent learnt a lesson.

Third visit, extremely poor service; processing; prioritising and wait times - disgraceful as an Australian hospital. Each time have waited for between 3 - 5hours just to be seen by a nurse. The triage is poor, staff are not diligent, no entertainment in reality for children given prolonged wait periods and you see families in real need just leave after hours of waiting. We will only, after 1st horrendous experience, revert to PCH Emergency Department as an absolute last resort - this incident involved 3 serious spider bites that were escalating rapidly during the prolonged wait time. Deaths, more serious harm and impacts on children 100% would be being caused by the almost third world level of 'emergency' care at what is meant to be a 'premium state facility for children's care'. Appalling State Premier; Government and Health Department - this is not acceptable and a true disgrace. Dont worry about your artwork more than the intention of your service!

Not the service you would expect from a hospital in Australia. Have been to the children s hospital ER 3 times over the last 3 years and the service is worse each time. The staff are rude and don't appear to want to be there. They are also all rehearsed on the "we are short staff comment" and there seems to be no sense with the prioritisation. Waited almost 3 hrs for a Nurse to see my child to check a pulse from multiple spider bites when her hand is severely swollen. Some form of authority needs to assist to bring the standards back to what you would expect for service in Australia!

Twice they did not see my child even I have waited morethan 3 hours. For sure there is bias in Perth Children Hospital. The WA health should do something about it. They should train the staffs, specially the nurses at front desk who prioritize which child to see doctors first. They do not prioritise based on child illness. They do based on child ethnic/race. That’s not acceptable. That night break my heart when I took my child back home without seeing the doctor.
