Peninsula Farm reviews
13Stunning renovation of an historic building, delicious breakfast with beautiful views of the river and bushland.
It's a cafe. You don't need to buy tickets, but you need to make a booking beforehand.
On arrival it was packed. Thought this was a good sign. Wrong. Waitress messed up orders and top prices for what you got. Quite disappointing
As expected, very busy on the public holiday long weekend. At least 45min for a seat and 20min for a takeaway coffee. Nice coffee thankfully! Limited parking but found more parking drive further up on the right.
Farm house and grounds are amazing. Cafe used to be lovely but is now pretty basic though it is in a beautiful location.
Extremely disappointing, cafe potential is huge with its amazing location on the Swan River and heritage, however current cafe was poor, we ordered food and coffees, poor presentation, food was disgusting, coffee was like dirty water and no prices displayed. Now we know why.
Sorry but we won't be back.
Great location on the Swan River.
If your on the bike path or walking past stop in for a coffee and refreshments.
It's strange though that it is closed on some public holidays like New years.
Beware the National Trust silver metal sign which says the farm is closed until January.
THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO THE TEA ROOMS WHICH IS OPEN EVERY DAY. I am informed the National Trust does not allow the Tea Rooms to place any sign larger than about A4 beneath its own much larger, dominant, sign. This is extremely short-sighted and I imagine detrimental to the profitable operation of the Tea Rooms which are a very significant draw to the National Trust property.
And I highly recommend the Tea Rooms.quiet, riverside, shady, historic site.
Amazing place to visit with so much history here. I never knew Maylands had so much history until coming here and exploring this peninsula farm / Tranby Cottage. Well worth of visit to explore the farm and then go for a lovely relaxing stroll along the pathways by the river or drop in to the cafe next door. A beautiful spot with so much history so close to the city, Parklands and the Beautiful Swan River
Good tour guides there well spent afternoon Learning about the Hardy family, nice tea rooms beautifull gardens
A peaceful afternoon under the trees. A nice selection of afternoon tea delights, would have preferred a few more savoury choices as too much of thesweet stuff becomes a little overwhelming. A great range of teas and other drinks available as part of the deal. Good attentive service from staff throughout afternoon session even when very busy with large volume of bookings. It was a little warm seated outside on sunny day, the shade moved placing us looking into the full sun. I suggest requesting an inside or under porch table for a hot day. The venue catered to a dietary request made in advance.
They charge 43 dollars for the high tea they ave advertised that it was $$80 for two there was there was 10 of us the tea was cold
Beautiful heritage area - although we did not come for the actual Farm Cottage tour. We came for High Tea at the Tea Garden. Lovely setting with the option to sit outside overlooking the lawns and river. Service was good. A good selection of loose leaf tea and infusions. Lots of food on the a High Tea service tray which was impressive and quite yummy. However when the tea arrived in the silver pots the handles were wrapped in a paper napkin which looked really odd and cheap. It was meant to be a protective barrier but it didn't last long and we were left trying to deal with a very very hot handle. Also, the weight of the tea pot requirs you to put your hand in front of it as well, but it's on the hot metal so you can't. Suggestion would be proper tea cozies for the tea sets which allow guests to serve their own tea when they want to refill their teacup.
