Oxford Dermatology reviews
18The receptionists are very rude and terrible. They are very unprofessional. The way they handle the situation was very poor and careless. I had an appointment, this was the third times and as always we are waiting for 30 to 40 mins to see the doctor and this time i had an appointment at 0310pm, just in case, I called them to let them know, I am on the way and might arrive 5 mins late, however I arrived on time.but she told me, "Sorry, we rescheduled your appointment, and we can't wait for you. " They didn't let me see the doctor. The assistance manager also took sides. They are very disappointing and unprofessional.
Always efficient and friendly staff. A warm & welcoming atmosphere. My Dermatologist, Dr Harvey Smith is an excellent doctor/surgeon, specialising in Mohs Surgery. I would highly recommend him.
A few years ago I had a great experience at Oxford Dermatology with Dr Amit Verma. This time around, after a long wait to get a booking, I was emailed that I could not see him again and can only see Dr Harvey Smith. Initially that was fine as I was still able to see a professional - or so I presumed.
Dr Harvey Smith was difficult to communicate with - no eye contact, 3 different recommendations in the one appointment which made little sense and all failed to have any results. I have now asked to see a different dermatologist at the clinic for a second opinion. But the blunt response I received was to go back to my GP and find another dermatologist because Dr Smith didn’t want to do this. A complete waste of time, effort and money. I now want everyone to know this practice is a farce and should be avoided at all cost.
Amazing doctors but the receptionists are terrible and rude. Hard to get an appointment, they never answer the phones (I've watched them ignore the phone ringing while I was in waiting room, now I know why it takes so long to get through), and they ignore you while you wait to be checked in or pay. If you can get past the bad customer service, the doctors and nurses are absolutely lovely.
My GP only referred me to this clinic as we were really impressed by the reviews written about Dr Arif Aslam. However, when the clinic finally called me to make an appointment, they had advised that this doctor had unfortunately left but I was welcome to make an appointment with one of their other dermatologist which eventuated with my appointment today with Dr Harvey Smith. To say I was disappointed by my experience would be an understatement. Right from the start, he was dismissive, didn't bother to take a history (eg.what I've tried, triggers, medical conditions, etc) and when I did try to give him one, he made no attempt at eye contact and his body language clearly showed he was disinterested. 5 mins and I was rush out the door with most of that time being spent with him hiding behind the computer checking if there was an interaction with a regular medication that I was taking (as he didn't what it was) with the one he was about to prescribe.
To make matters worse, it was quite clear that he isn't up to date with the latest dermatological treatments and/or didn't know his prescription medication as when asked about soolantra, he tried to cover up the fact that he didn't know what it was by assuming it was just another brand of topical steroids and said it wouldn't be effective as it was drying. *face palm* I can't speak for the other dermatologist at the clinic, but GPs and future patients if you are in need of a good dermatologist, please stay clear of Dr HARVEY SMITH, the $215 fee is not worth the money.
I recently purchased this book. I am a Doctor with post graduate qualifications.
I will suggest that this book is very basic. If you are planning dermatology training or higher education no point of buying this book. Also quality of paper and pic is average.
Recently my melanoma returned after 15 years. For peace of mind yesterday I went to Oxford Dermatology for a 2nd opinion to have a consultation with Dr Arif Aslam. I was so impressed with his professionalism, extensive knowledge and caring persona. He was concerned about two of my moles and after our consultation I had two biopsies. Generally, this would have been a particularly stressful event (especially after recently recovering from Melanoma surgical procedures elsewhere!) However, Dr Aslam's wonderful sense of humour and calming nature made it a breeze! His checkup of my moles was very thorough and honestly the most comprehensive one I've ever had. I can't thank you enough Arif - so relieved I've found you and you're certainly worth the journey from South of the river!
Andy:)
Highly Recommend Oxford Dermatology, great friendly service, every one including Dr Aslam went out of their way for me, thanks
These people quoted $970 odd for a keloid injection. Dr Gebauer at Fremantle Dermatology charged $40! As I see it, they were trying to milk the daylights my private health fund.
Oxford Dermatology wanted me to book in for “day surgery” for a 5 min procedure. Disgraceful! They should be investigated.boarding on criminal behaviour. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Thank you, Dr Aslam!
Like many Aussies do, I have skin checks each year. But I also check myself between visits. Thankfully I do as Dr Arif Aslam had to remove an SCC from my forehead via MOHS Surgery this January. I had read a lot, seen the many disturbing photos, and joined a bunch of online groups to ask Qs. But it was my time and experience with Dr Aslam that was of most importance.
Dr Aslam is a rockstar and such a caring doctor. Right from our first appointment he set me at ease, was funny, and clearly super duper smart and experienced. I went into MOHS a few days later with absolutely no fear. The most important thing for me was getting the cancer out of my body. And I knew that Dr Aslam would take care of business.
In fact, the entire team at Oxford (both the Derm and Surgery sides) were amazing. So kind and attentive, with clean and well-cared for facilities. I knew I was in great hands.
He got it all out in 1 pass (look at how perfect that circle is he cut!), gave me 9 dissolvable stitches inside & 13 gorgeous stitches outside. I had barely any swelling thanks to a strong regimen of icing and sleeping upright.
I couldn’t care less about a scar. It’s better than the alternative. But wow Dr Aslam is known as the MOHS doctor who could also be a plastic surgeon for a reason! I'm so happy with the result and healing so far. And for certain if I'm unlucky enough to need MOHS again, I hope I'm lucky enough to see Dr Aslam!

Dr Arif Aslam is a well qualified and professional dermatologist. He removed a BCC from my temple. I am happy with the Mohs surgery he performed and the post surgery care. Would highly recommend Dr Aslam. Thank you Dr Aslam.
I am most grateful to Dr Arif Aslam. He removed two BCC's - one from my ear and one from above the top of my lip in two separate day surgeries. Could not have wished for better outcomes. Dr Aslam has a wonderful manner and exhibits professionalism of the highest level.

After consultation with Dr Arif Aslam, it was confirmed I had a melanoma on my scalp as well as a BCC on my left jaw.
Dr Aslam was thorough in his examination and I was fully informed of the procedures necessary and the care after.
The procedures were very successful and the wound treatment and after care, from all the medical professionals at Oxford Dermatology and Oxford Day Surgery was exceptional.
I highly recommend Dr Aslam to anyone who is wanting a diagnosis and who needs a medical procedure. He is an extremely professional and personable practitioner.
Dr Paul Cherian diagnosed a SCC after being refered to by my GP.
Within a week I had the cancer removed and made a full recovery.
Scaring is almost non existent.
All Staff I communicated with were pleasant and helpful.
Excellent service from start to finish including follow up appointments.
Would not hesitate recommending the services of Dr Cherian.
Dr Aslam performed my surgery on my nose removing a BCC and I am very thankful to him, his experience, lovely caring manner and sense of humour. It was quite extensive surgery and my results are terrific. Dr Aslam I cannot thank you enough. If I ever need surgery again (hope not) I will be requesting a referral back to you.
I would like to offer a recommendation for Dr Arif Aslam for his attention to detail and very thorough explanations prior, during and post operative. Potentially a life saving find. It would be remiss if i also didn't recognise Emily for her exceptional aftercare and her excellent communication.
Just had a great experience with Dr Arif Aslam. I had this weird thing on may finger (for 2 months) which at least 4 doctors couldn't identify. Dr Aslam figured it out within a few minutes, took care to confirm his diagnosis, called me and exchanged texts to keep me in the loop, prescribed a treatment and it worked!
Dr. Arif Aslam is knowledgeable and caring. You can trust he has your health as his priority. Highly recommend.
