23I thought that the Ombudsman was supposed to be impartial! What a complete waste of time and taxpayers money! They definitely were not in the least bit interested in providing fair and an unbiased service to me. In fact, they went at great lengths to not deal with matters presented to them. This will result in complaints about the same matters being made to the ACCC, CCC and Attorney General.
Rude, condescending, arrogant, and totally unhelpful staff. It's a disgrace that they're allowed to blatantly waste taxpayers' money.
A waste of time, 'investigation' produced one email after 3 months closing the case without any resolution of issues raised.
Experts at staff handballing taking weeks then closing case! Govt. Housing ignoring mould since 2014 causing severe health issues! Please close this useless office!
What an incompetent and pathetic organisation. When confronted with evidence the City of Joondalup lie when confronted with their wrongdoing, this useless office focused on how it affected me personally rather than looking into the misconduct. They decided it didn't affect me personally (even though my rates are being misused) and refused to investigate.
Ombudsman happy to endorse Transperth's actions in not providing customers their change while riding a bus. Transperth are effevtively stealing from the public. Shame in both of these entities for allowing theft of public money.
Did nothing. Conducted a sham of an investigation that took months longer than stipulated. Did not answer our enquiries. Sided with the department that perpetrated our trauma.
Opened a case with them no response other than an automated email saying someone will call. The TIO are meant to be there to help when the telecommunications companies fail us but here I am with ongoing problem with TELSTRA for 10 weeks now and the company meant to intervene and help 3 weeks later have not even called to assist once. Utterly disappointed all round!
Totally agree with over 80% of reviews for this organization, absolutely useless, frustrating and self serving. 31 of 39 reviews so far are one star only, not a real good strike rate! Would not properly investigate my complaint against another State administrative department, indicating all they had to do was say "sorry". Then I realised they were in the same building.
The Ombudsman WA is a farcical institution hiding behind the power ultimately assigned and entrusted them by the public they are supposed to serve, protect and represent. They are dialectically averse to that which does not serve their own interests. They are not interested in providing a fair and impartial service to the public—as they feign. In fact, they do the direct opposite of what they profess they are assigned to do by providing the public with an unbefitting divisive disservice and inconvenience by safeguarding and sustaining the malpractices of such agencies as the Department of Education.
The Ombudsman condones and supports the DoE by giving them free rein to act as if they are a law unto themselves. NB The DoE have their own “Labour Relations and Workforce” officials who stand in judgment of their employees and work in concert with State solicitors to sustain their authority and power without contention from any other authority, especially the Ombudsman’s Office.
The DoE repel and forcibly shun themselves from Government Accountability—an activity which the Ombudsman’s Office enables and supports. A function and responsibility of the Ombudsman is to hold Government Agencies to account—how ironically pathetic that they don't enforce what they are entrusted and assigned to do.
The Ombudsman WA is set-up to serve their own self-interests and the state government agencies they are supposed to investigate and hold to account. The stark reality about the Ombudsman’s Office is that it is a useless, wasteful, otiose and unnecessary institution that rorts the supporting taxpayer in order to pay for their salaries, and generous employee benefits, while perpetuating a perturbing and feckless sham.
Primarily, evasive, confused, indifferent and fundamentally self serving. More material for a sitcom than anything else!
A useless organisation and a waste of taxpayer's money. Staff at the WA Ombudsman do not care about the rights of Western Australians and instead look for reasons to fob them off onto other organisations with less powers when it suits their social and political objectives. My privacy was breached by an FOI Office who released over four hundred pages of my medical and personal information - a breach of the FOI Act. The WA Ombudsman would ordinarily handle such a complaint but because the information was of a health nature and because the FOI office was part of the Health Department they palmed the issue off onto HaDSCO; a toothless organisation that cannot achieve the resolutions I am seeking. HaDSCO said they were satisfied with the health department's apology for breaching my privacy and now that's the end of it and they have closed my complaint. If this had been any other organisation breaching privacy in this way it would be dealt with by an ombudsman. The WA Ombudsman will look for any excuse it can to palm you off onto toothless agencies with less power even when the breaches to privacy are so much graver and more profound than those possible by other Departments.
I agree with the other negative reviews on here. Going here was a colossal waste of my time and effort! The 5 star review from "Michelle Hutton" looks fake to me.

I see a lot of very negative reviews here but I think there's a lot of misunderstanding about the actual role of this service. The lady I spoke to seemed genuine in wanting to help even if she wasn't able to do so directly, by turning me toward the agencies that might. Ombudsman employees can hardly be blamed for the system being so confusing to "regular" people.
Cant see a way to help is what youll get.no attempt at all.the government is paying them so it makes sense.

I have been without power for the last 2 weeks because it was unlawfully disconnected without any warning!
I am also shocked that so many people accuse the Ombudsman for being corrupt!
Are people with dark skin not fit or good enough to be appointed as Ombudsman or EOC Commissioners?

Consumer affairs (karen dwyer), Ombudsman (grace moro) : these people are all supposed to look after the interests of the public but they don't do anything.
Wouldn't waste my time again. No way are they independent. Complaint about unfair treatment from City of Swan regarding a noise abatement for talkback radio at 4.30pm and the reply was nearly word for word the same as the CoS response.
Same here, not useful at all.
The employees doesn't care about people.
They can't do nothing, they told that they have limited power.
All is treated with superficiality.
My personal experience was terrible, I don't think there are positive experience.
