North Metropolitan TAFE Leederville reviews
11 The Music department is sly and disrespectful. I absolutely feel it could have been done better. If they modernize some stuff in their teaching, it could have been a much better experience and perhaps an education. However, I was failed by a small few. The technology is fine, but that doesn't excuse bad lecturing, sorry.
Edit: 7-8 months later, I still have a crushed creative spirit, no drive. I dropped anything creative—I question every choice I make on everything now, and all because of some extremely bad experiences with the NM Tafe faculty. Seriously, I never got a certificate and never got a refund, even though the time had passed. My situation is special.
That is all horrible excuses and cover-up at best.
I spent 2 years learning here and had a good experience. The Community Services course was good and Mental Health Cert IV and Diploma courses were excellent.
The department we dealt with was great (music department) Kim was understanding and happy to make the time for us. Would recommend North Metropolitan Tafe to anyone seeking a career in music.
Once i was studying General Education course and we had a lecture named Chris, who made us write letters to ourselves so we they can send to our home after the break or the term and see jow we feel. I didnt know you have to lick the envelope, so Chris here there was pointing somethings that he would have never known only thru that note i wrote. Shame on you
Very warm welcome from the Staff. Makes you want to do new training for a new career. Very satisfied.
A great campus for anyone, from general education courses to the music department alongside the local student accommodation known as Foyer Oxford with an amazing busy little cafe (Oxford Yard) just left of the buildings ground entrance.
I have rung this number 130 300 822 twice in the last few weeks, both of these phone people are quite reluctant and unfriendly when answering to the phone, I feel sorry for these people who are rude to others or simply just don't like their jobs, but we as customers from TAFE deserve decent services from this school, now it makes me think twice should I ever want to call them again. In the future I'd hope this TAFE as an educational institute can hire some employees with quality educational minds if it't not equipped with a welcoming attitude say the least.
WARNING to international student DO NOT STUDY IN ANY TAFE! I swear you will regret! You paid 6 times expansive than the local student, but all you have is an unorganised messy rubbish school.they starts theory class and practical classes at the same time, that means you have to rush your theory and practical assessments at the same time.they arranged the placement for you in the first 2 weeks.you haven't learned anything but you have placement already Also the assessor will come to the centre to assess you when you just started around only 1 month All the lecturers are not coordinated with each others because of the messy management of TAFE. But actually lecturers are quite professional and experienced
You pay a high amount of fees as an international student with absolutely no difference in delivery compared to domestics. The only difference is you are robbed of money numerous times but when TAFE over charge you, you don't get it back. Also be very aware that we 'pay for the qualification' so if you do a Cert 3, Cert 4 then a Diploma, there's a high chance you will pay for the exact same class 3x whilst domestic students do not. Student services are good but don't help international and international support is hard to reach. Do your research before spending thousands here, this is not just an issue of my own but of many many others. On a plus side of things, the lecturers are fantastic and have loads of knowledge and most of them do their best to support and help you. The campus' are well maintained and have good options for food, Leederville campus being right next to many food and social places and a few minutes away from a train station and a 5/10 minute drive from the CBD. Wifi has never been an issue for myself but has been for many others.
If you don't mind spending loads of money on nothing and a little amount of that money on something, then i would recommend North Metro Tafe. Just be prepared to have very little support from Tafe and TIWA (Who are apparently in charge of international students.)
Good teachers.the wifi actually sucks for how much i pay for courses however so i am extremely unimpressed
