Mount Lawley Fish & Chips

I went to this chippy tonight even after reading the reviews about rude staff, I didnt meet any rude staff, we were served by a hard working man who was very busy making nice food, the cod and battered sausages were perfectly cooked. We sat in while waiting for our food to be cooked and numerous people came and ordered their food with no problems.

So disappointed. Paid for Red Emperor and chips for 2 $40. Fish was tough and dry and the batter burnt. Unable to even cut with a knife.

I ordered a 'family' chips and the person at the front got mad and started ranting about whose family i was ordering for. Family chips is a standard size. He didn't evaluate at all about sizes and just started getting angry for no reason at all. At least evaluate or tell me about sizes.not the price.

It was good fish and chips. But the customer service was horrible. I could hear the guy being rude to other customers on the phone. He was very rude to me also. I recommend talking to this person because he is showing a horrible picture of your store. He got upset and me for ordering family chips. I decided to leave and get chips from another place. This is a horrible place all because of this one guy.

Delicious fresh fish and chips. Great service. Will be back! Also Tuesday has a great deal, only $7.40 for a large serve. Perfect:)

Why you close early tonight, i walked like two kilometres. Even rang at around 8pm but when i arrived you were closed. Sign says open to 8.30pm?

First time trying this place, and went in with hopeful expectations based on other reviews. They were exceeded! I ordered a snapper and chips, with sea scallops. The snapper was flaky, fresh, slightly sweet and mild. Delightful to eat, encased in crisp, thin, golden batter that wasn't heavy or overwhelming. The chips were great, mix of soft and crisp however all were crunchy on the outside. Scallops were good, quite fat which was a pleasant surprise! Serving size was spot on and I'm pleasantly full. Definitely will be back.

Got a piece of Pan Fried Hake from this place. Tasted good. The fish seemed fresh. Price reasonable, about 11

Ordered fish and chips and some other items only because it was Good Friday.

Very very disappointing.

The fish had been cooked in some kind of hard crusty stuff so it was hard to chew.
The fish itself was unhealthy looking, hardly filled the coating and was not very nice.
The sundry items were below average.

Shan’t be returning.

Food was great, staff were really friendly, would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants quality fish and chips

The kind of place where you ask for $2 of chips and that actually means something.

None of this fancy bruschetta garlic bread, sharp-crust pizza nonsense here - it's classic deep-fried fish and also chips.

Reasonably priced, deceptively fast turnaround (like, 10 minutes on a slow day?), and you get your money's worth.

They quality of the food is good, but the service is pretty average. Have to wait way to long, staff don’t seem to know how to work quickly, young girl at counter needs to speak up:
I showed up 8: 25pm and they refused to take my order because they closed at 8: 30pm. NEVER GO BACK AGAIN

Pretty disappointing.
Ordered gummy shark & chips, chips where wonderful but the fish was old, hard, dry and thin layers cooked together. Rang the shop to express our complaint & all I got was an apology about their supplier due to COVID-19. I had to settled with chippy sandwich & almost $40 out of pocket.

The owner is incredibly rude and abuses customers when they try to order. This is an awful business. Please do not go here

As a kiwi, I'm always on the look out for a good fish & chips, and this one is usually on my go to list for being great. Always consistent with their quality, and very friendly staff. I probably go once a month, can highly recommend the red emperor and dimsum, plus you guys always do your chips perfectly! Keep up the great work!

We always enjoy the Fish and Chips from MLF&S. Good sized portions, quality fish and crisp chips - a guaranteed winner!

Extremely disappointing fish and chips. Due to Good Friday they said it would take 30 minutes, however it took just over an hour. I was not impressed with my $17 snapper which has no flavor and was dry. The chips were undercooked and the crab stick over cooked. I will never go back.

I walk past this place quite a bit, and I finally went in for the first time about 2 weeks or so ago. When I was ordering, the staff were a bit cold, but I just went along with it cause maybe they might have been having a bad day. We all have those days.
I ordered the special and sat down to wait. It was only 15min or so and it was all ready to go, which I believe is a reasonable amount of time to wait for an order.
Got home to eat and the food was delicious.
So to the people that work there that are a little bitter, it might just be worth knowing that you could lose customers that way, because your food is really lovely.
