Monggo Restaurant reviews
77Very disappointing meal.the shared mixed meat starter portions were extremely small but tastey. Beef Rendang was dry with accompanying fried bread over cooked. Fried rice with chicken was the best part of the meal.we were the only guests in the restaurant and the staff had music playing so loud that we had to ask for it to be turned down.and to add insult to injury we were charged $4 a bottle corkage to drink a glass of wine each.will not be returning to Monggo Restaurant
I normally don't write reviews but I am compelled to write for my atrocious dining experience with Monggo- possibly the worst Indonesian restaurant I have been to- To start the Gado Gado is the worst that I have ever had (and I am Indonesian) It was so BAD! The dish does not remotely resemble or taste like the original Gado Gado- it came out on a very small plate with no ketupat (rice cakes), tofu, tempeh, crackers and thick peanut sauce- since when does gado gado have corn kernels and get this- they charge $7 if you want tempeh and tofu to be added- the nerve! Gado gado should have tempeh, tofu and ketupat already and having to pay extra for the standard ingredients is CRIMINAL! And DO NOT ORDER their beef rendang- OMG! I was so shocked when the dish came out in a tiny ramekin containing 4 pieces of beef with watery gravy and accompanied by store bought roti! So bloody disappointing! And do not order the barramundi with sambal matah- the fish was deep fried to the point of being dry and tasteless! HORRIBLE! No wonder- Indonesians DO NOT DINE at this place as they know better! Most of the patrons are westerners who do not know better. A highly disappointing and frustrating dining experience. If you want excellent Indo food- avoid this place and go to Batavia, Bintang, Dapur Van Java in Vic Park or Totally Rendang in West Perth.
Wow what a hidden gem! I’ve been craving Indonesian food all day & stumbled upon this restaurant & it’s definitely exceeded my expectations. Affordable, yummy, amazing staff & experience! Can’t wait to come back again! Everyone go try!
First impression, 5 stars. I forgot to take some pictures but as you can see that i finished all the food, so it proved to be very delicious.
It is not often that we have an absolutely unique meal. We odered three dishes and all three were completely unlike anything we had had before and absolutely delicious! To too it all they are vegiterian friendly. Five stars all the way.
The food was absolutely amazing, the staff were so friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was great!
The food is yuk for me as a kitchen hand grade two. He make the food wrongly serve bad old, salty. I never want come back.there.sorry ko I'm vomiting alot. I cannot believe effective me alot I regret to come there.
Dine-in at Monggo with a friend. Restaurant atmosphere and service was good. Ordered chicken satay, beef satay (sate buntel), fried rice, fried noodle, vegetable stir fry and es campur. Chicken satay could be a little more tender, peanut sauce was too thick. Sate buntel tasted a little sour inside so not sure why. Fried rice was okay. Noodle in fried noodle was hard, maybe undercooked. Veggie stir fry was good. Es campur was okay. My suggestion is for the restaurant to improve the overall flavour of the dishes to make them more authentic, not too plain. All the best.
We ordered the vegan platter, vegan Gado Gado and the vegan cauliflower dish. Beautiful flavours of spice and peanut sauce. Very satisfying. Thank you
Delicious food. Nicely presented. Beautiful service. Loads of vegan options. We could hear the staff in the kitchen having a laugh, which we loved because we like to know that the people who are working to feed us are happy in their workplace.
I think they renovated the place recently (?), it looked better than before. The food is delicious - as usual. And they have variety of option for vegans and vegetarians as well!
This place had a bad rep in local circles and we were advised not to go. But I think if it was bad they have really turned them self around if so. Our food was great and very nice a spicy. Could have been a tiny bit warmer and a tiny bit bigger but all in all, delicious.
Great food, lovely owner. A much loved part of the Mt Lawley community. Love the beef rendang!
Ikan bakar (grilled fish) and plecing (water spinach with sambal) was very delicious. The customer service was also very nice. Overall a great experience.
Had such an amazing meal. The service was fantastic and the food was delicious.
Will definitely be returning.
Affordable and highly authentic Indonesian in Mt Lawley, with dishes hailing from all parts of Indonesia and really lovely customer service as well
Love the food! Vegan menu! Go there often! This restaurant gad a huge revamp! Menu as well! Much better!
So delicious! The duck and the rendang was so yummy! If you’re craving Indonesian food, definitely come and check it out!
I was expecting the food to be good but it was actually amazing. Portion sizes were great, flavours were great, prices are great. I got the vegan Nasi goreng, sambal tempeh, mushroom and corn fritters and it was flippin delicious.
