May Street Larder reviews
78Group of 6 for high tea. Food and service were excellent, menu great with range of drinks. We had a fantastic afternoon and highly recommend. A great find.
We had a party of 10 people for the high tea and it was absolutely wonderful. Amazing service, we were so well looked after. They catered for our dietary requirements without a fuss. The food and drinks were 10/10. Highly recommended.
Food was ok but desperate need of fresh air! Also, entrance to the toilet is straight into the restaurant which is a bit of a gross thing to look at while eating. I suggest some room dividers for privacy for those using the loo and so the rest of us don’t have to see!
Great not so little place, easy parking, wonderful atmosphere with a good selection of food
I tried to make a booking for fathers day however booking would only allow for minimum of 4 people.
When we arrived at 8.30am we were told the place was fully booked meanwhile empty tables everywhere. Great business model.
Definitely won't be back. Luke warm coffee, breakfast burrito was just all scrambled overcooked eggs which had sloppy liquid coming out of it, and the shakshukka had two rock hard boiled eggs (meant to be runny!) with an anaseed tasting dukkah and undetiblble cheese. Nearly inedible but waited so long for it and didn't want to wait another 45 mins. Very disappointing.
Place is easy to locate but limited parking around especially during busy hours, try street parking. Plenty of seatings in-house but quite crowded and makes it really hard to have a clear conversation amongst guests at your own table and without having to speak louder than usual otherwise place is well maintained. Good doesn’t take long to be served and all appear to be well presented and also tasty. Tried 4 different types of cakes and most of them were quite dry and not really to our liking except for the orange cake. Staff and services were great but bear in mind they are very strict with closing time and will want you out on the spot at closing time.
Really enjoyable food. Very nice inside. Clean and light. Best chocolate milkshake I've had in Perth.
Good food selection and the coffee is very good. Staff efficient and friendly in a busy and well patronised cafe.
Came for brunch with friends. I had the soul sandwich which was good (wasn't as nice as the last time I came). The coffee is excellent there and service was great!
Friendly staff, food presentation good I had high hopes as food served looked amazing but for some reason a error happened with my food which made me late back to work as it had to be cooked when I questioned how much longer it would be. OK, the staff did rectify quickly. The presentation, although now take away, was good, but I wasn't very impressed when eating it (each to our own). I understand that I had the rueben which came with chips which were just oily and no flavour.) Coffee, both dad and I didn't love either, sadly. I'm sorry this is not a 5-star review. $31 later 1 rueben 2xcoffee.
Was in the Freo area and always wanted to visit this place. Finally had the chance as heard a lot of good things about the food.
Ordered the Beef brisket hash with poached eggs, Poke bowl KFC option, side of fries with aioli and the Korean Fried Chicken burger. Everything was yummy but the K chicken burger didn’t look like the standard of the other dishes.
The cafe also has Purezza distilled and sparkling water on tap which is nice.
I stood at the counter for 5-10mins without being served, despite two baristas standing next the counter. I took my money elsewhere. If you're busy tell the customer you'll be with them shortly, don't just ignore them!
Food is well-presented and generous in portion. On our first visit, we tried the waffle chicken which was just the right mix of savoury, sweet and spicy.
On our second visit, we had the beef brisket hash and salmon potato pave. Beef brisket hash perfect. The sauce had a nice kick to it. Salmon potato pave was yummy too.
Cafe does get busy and your orders might be bit slow to come, but otherwise it’s a lovely place to eat and catch up with friends.
Great breakfast spot. Ordered the beef brisket hash which was delicious! The juice ordered comes in a small bottle and quite pricey at 7 dollars.
Very average. Very overpriced for what you get. They used to be amazing. Now there is very little love or pazaz put in to their dishes. Stock standard, small protons, with a price tag. Far far better breakfast joints around.
Simple and wholesome options! The coffee is BEAUTIFUL and the choc chip cookies are SO GOOD OH MY GOLLY! A lovely Cafè with such a good atmosphere that attracts lovely people.

Been coming here for years but lately been disappointed. The portions have shrank and they nickel and dime for everything. $5 for Avocado, $1 for hot sauce. Don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon.
We arrived for a 10am brekky, table for 8 and Although it was Fathers Day there was still empty tables available. Got the drinks order wrong and took back, then coffee delivered with a lot of spillage in the saucer which had to be mopped up and then got 2 mains wrong and had to wait 10
Minutes extra for some eggs and avo that had been forgotten on two plates of our order. Why oh why is there no chef that can deliver poached eggs that are actually cooked to perfection… these are supposed to be soft and runny over toast … hard as rocks, bacon burnt on every plate and tough as nails … never again.
Good was prompt and delish for an early mid week breakfast. Soul sandwich was really good. The Brisket hash was a bit to heavy for our liking could have done with a relish rather than a hollandaise sauce. Really good coffee nice atmosphere we'll be back
