Master Chang’s Bakery reviews
42Although the curry puffs tarts and siew paos are nice - they've increased the price multiple times and about 40 to 50 percent in the last 2 years. Plus the size of the tarts has shrunk. This is not on, not the way to treat your customers. Plus the old sour puss Asian aunty, no smile and no courtesy.
Ordered a durian cake for my mom’s.the durian cream inside was superrr runny, i kept in fridge after pick up, and this was what i saw after i open.ruin my mom’s birthday.
Agreed with some reviews posted. The asian lady who serve was rude & cocky (Specially to asian customers). After paid, she just left us at cashier and left all breads and cake on the bench without any help at all. Very rude the way she answer questions. Bread are NOT fresh as at all. Clearly it was left over at least 2 days
The only decent bakery in Thornlie. Siew Paos, walnut cookies and Mango sponge roll cakes are worth every $.
The 4 in one pack big bau/bun costing $24 (pork, chicken etc). The backing paper underneath each bau is printed with small red flowers. The colour of these red flowers got transferred onto the bau. This is unhealthy. The Health Department should investigate this unprofessional food preparation method.
Their rainbow cake is to die for me and my daughter enjoyed every bite! And their pork bbq pastry omg… highly recommend this bake shop! Thanks! ️️️
Excellent! The confectioneries were outstanding.and the cost to quantity was amazing!
Only thing that was lacking was customer service but who cares as long the food is good right?
Enjoyed these cakes very much because the cakes are fluffy, light, not overly sweet and just pure bliss the price doesn't matter when every bit of the cake made ys speechless. Customer service was on point as I was in a rush. Will be back very soon thanku
The owner is extremely rude and has no manner, in particular towards Asian buyers. The pies were not packed gently, literally were just thrown! All messed up and we ended up with take away rubbish pies! We came here as some one posted about the pies online. But frankly, the Chinese Pastries are not that special anyway, with this kind of service and pricings.
If you continue your business in this manner, you are killing your self! We will never come back again.

The price for egg tarts has increase from $2 to $2.50 but the egg filling is getting lesser. Its just mainly eating pastry. Its quite significant to increase $0.50 each egg tart I am expecting it should at least remains the same quality. Very disappointing this will be the last time we visit the bakery.
0.5 STAR is worth enough!
Agreed with A. K and Thurga that the owner old aunt was very arrogant every time, rude and unpolitely to especially Asian customers. What my recent experience was everything over price, under quality. Bought breads, siew pao they were all EXTREMELY MSG. My family members all were thirst for more than 5 hrs even drank lots of water.
Layer cake not honestly cut, thickness -undercut in each if didn't look carefully.
Very poor service, the bread shelves is very dirt.
I will not buy from these people again. Like what is so special about your cakes that you have hiked price of your cakes more than what premium bakeries are offering? Do you make them with holy hands or what?
You want to increase price of your products at this level, then at least provide value to the customers. Your customer service is very poor, the old lady at the counter has pathetic and rude behavior towards their customers. I thought she was just having a bad day but seems like she is always ready for a WWE smackdown. Stay at the back if you cannot control your mood swings before a customer puts you and your attitude back to its place.
Your cakes are average considering the premium price you are charging. Improve your pricing, provide better value to the customers, No one respects a business who tries to rip customers off. Happy to remove this review if appropriate steps are taken.
Great pastries but the elderly lady at the front of the counter presumably the owner is very rude. Will surely come back but not anytime soon
One of the best Asian bakeries. Their cakes taste amazing using real fresh cream and don't taste over the top sweet like other places.
Really bad customer service and definitely was being overcharged. The older lady at the counter is just plain rude and this is not the first time we’ve had a bad experience from the same lady. We special ordered a fruit cocktail cake and asked for extra fruits with no writing and was charged an extra $20 for it. This is at the Thornlie branch. When we went to collect the cake and to enquire about the price, she looked like she was going to start a fight and there was a long queue behind us so we didn’t argue and just paid the extra.
We have never paid extra $20 for extra fruits. We also double checked with the branch in Morley and was quoted only $10 extra for the fruits. All branches should have the same pricing. I would suggest ordering from Morley store as the ladies there are so nice and polite and you can always request to pick up from other branches.
This is the best Malaysian Siew Pao (baked pork buns) and egg tarts I've had in Perth! Always my go to when I'm having some cravingsss:)
Char Siew pastry, chiffon cake and curry puff is good.
Avoid the pineapple tarts. Absolutely awful to swallow. Lots of pastry, very little filling. I felt this was the wrong pastry for pineapple tarts.
Had some curry puffs and a siew pao. Smelled lovely and was freshly baked. Very yummy and well priced, look forward to stopping here again.
The staff was rude and no basic manner, didnt even say thank you after paying. The bun and cake dont taste good yet quite expensive.
***Vic park store ***their pastries have shrunk in size and is not consistent in ingredients. The siew bao is not nice, flat, salty and small compare to the one in thornlie. No wonder still a lot left at 1215pm. The ones I had at Vic park store had majority onions and sauce no actual meat. For $2 each please put some decent ingredients in there *rip off*. Same franchise but lousy baker/maker. No more buying!
