I’m a Bunbury local who had family recently visit from the eastern states and due to size of the group we couldn’t accommodate at home. We recommended a couple of rooms at the Lighthouse as we’ve regularly used this venue for events and accommodation for the company my partner and I work for.

The first evening, the group returned to the hotel after a night out and one of the room keycards was non operational. They were advised by reception this would be resolved, however after some time, advised that a 24 hour locksmith was not answering calls.

Another room was offered; however all their luggage and toiletries were in the original room. No offer was made to remedy this situation. One of the young ladies in the group was particularly stressed that she could not access her toiletries bag. All three women in the group ended up with a poor night's sleep due to the situation.

A text I’d received from my sister at 11: 06PM (but did not see until the morning) “They’ve given us another room but we have nothing”

Once being aware of the situation the following morning, I went down to the Lighthouse at 8: 00am to enquire if any remedy or recompense was being offered.

On arrival at the hotel, a maintenance person was forcing the door open. I was advised by him that they’d recently changed the locks to a keycard system and this one was clearly faulty.

I went to reception to ask if anything was able to be done and the young man there said he’d ask his manager. He went out the back, came back to reception and said they’d offer a free breakfast. I asked him if I could speak to the manager and a woman came out and advised that she wasn’t actually the facility manager. My understanding was that she was the 2IC on duty.

I advised that I felt the offered remedy wasn’t appropriate considering the situation and she couldn’t understand that yes, a duty of care was provided to provide a bed for the night but this did not offer the same amenity as their guests had paid for.

It was reiterated that they had a new lock system and that it’s clearly not working properly, however I could not understand how this was being treated as just “too bad” for the guests.

I asked that because the locksmith wasn’t available and they’d forced the door open anyway in the morning, why couldn’t this have happened the previous night. “there was no one here to do it” was the response.

I asked if they felt it would’ve been at least appropriate to offer emergency toiletries such as obtaining toothbrushes as a minimum. The response was “giving out toothbrushes isn’t in our scope”.

I advised that I’d taken the day off work to take the group for a tour of the south west and the response is “but you can still go out”. We did have reservations at venues and because the situation, we were already an hour behind schedule at this point and half the group hadn’t been able change clothes and shower yet.

I asked if I could leave my number and have a chat to the actual manager and the woman I spoke to said no, she wanted to speak to the manager herself.

The most disappointing thing was the lack of empathy and understanding from the employees on duty. We'd be in a different place in the wash up if the staff were genuinely apologetic, but I felt a "too bad, so sad" response wasn't appropriate.

I contacted my sister after they’d checked out today to enquire if the Lighthouse had offered any remedy and was advised that, they had not. I felt at least a significant discount or refund of one night on the affected room would’ve been appropriate.

The company my partner and I work for has regularly booked events (including 150+ person functions) and used it for travelling worker accommodation. Due to the poor service here, we will be recommending that the Lighthouse no longer be used, or only utilised as a last resort if no other local venues are available.

Spacious and modern rooms. Lovely reception and restaurant staff. Great location with beach and lighthouse close by. Nice pool, spa and sauna.

We have just booked into this hotel. Were given our room. Could not get in as no key lock fitted. Were asked if we could wait 30mins till it was fitted. Well no we were checked it so asked for another room and walked in to a very disappointing room. Looked like the floor was just quickly vacuumed and then the spa was terrible with hair stuck in the jet. So guess our wonderful 26th wedding anniversary and birthday gift to hubby we will be not using that spa. Dirty mirrors. Nothing like we seen on their website. I have worked in many hotels as a cleaner myself and could never leave it in this state. Very run down. Only good thing so far is the view is excellent. If I could post a photo I would.

I stayed here for 1 night, and got a very nice room with superior ocean rooms. Rooms were very clean and even smelled beautiful.
Service staff were amazing through booking, reception and leaving.
Would 100% stay here again and recommend to everyone.

Extremely poor value for an 'Executive suite'. Don't be fooled by smart public areas! Accommodation was NOTHING LIKE shown on website. Comments refer to personal experience of room #25 on first floor

Liked · Good location spoilt by busy road under balcony. Good views across beach and ocean. Close to 'cafe strip' restaurants etc
Disliked · For an "Executive suite" most aspects might have just graced a hotel of the 1980's with few updates since. CERTAINLY no recent refurbishment
Poorly furnished; Old, sagging corner lounge; Uncomfortable balcony seating; Very small bathroom with pathetic shower (pressure and tiling), dirty window ledge and fan, unhygienic toilet and surrounds, toilet seat didn't fit; In-room catering facilities almost non-existent. Bed acceptable but needed complete remake to get bedding above waist high; Shelving in wardrobe made with rough raw particle board; Cold indoor pool; No restaurant service for two of our four days' stay
Absolutely dreadful! Possibly might have been almost acceptable for less than half the price paid of nearly $300 a night. Would have left early but couldn't re-book train back to Byford

Absolutely terrible service. Reception was incredibly rude to the guests in front of me and than casually dismissed me when asking about room. Was advertised a pool side room.can't even see the pool from my room. Was advertised as a king and queen pull-out bed. When asked told they have no rooms like this. Do not stay here, terrible hotel.

I've stayed here plenty of times when it was under the Quality Lighthouse Hotel. Very disappointed to be here for 2 nights. Monday nights - no dinner service. All good got Uber eats delivered to my room and thought to myself I'll have a nice breakfast in the morning to start the day. Go up to the restaurant to find no hot food only continental. Hot food starts from Wednesdays. Talk about cutting costs. Very disappointed, won't be staying again after tonight.

Never ever again will we use this place.
Again we have had our booking messed up by the incompetence of Mantra Lighthouse.
When you confirm a booking only to find out that it is not what you are getting is not acceptable.
Do yourself a favour and book a premises in Bunbury that can actually give you what you book. Excuses do not wash.

Lovely venue for events (organised, helpful friendly) and you have the gorgeous views of the beach as your back drop, couldn't get any better!
Matt, as well as his team, are super friendly and a delight to deal with:) I know some great updates to the Mantra Bunbury Lighthouse are being done by this team to only further improve the experience, cannot wait to see what more they accomplish in the new year!

Second stay in a month and did not disappoint, we stayed in the refurbished rooms. Bathrooms awesome, bed soooo comfy. The staff were so accommodating and friendly. We ate twice in the restaurant and had the best steak ever cooked to perfection both times. Cat was amazing friendly and funny made our night. Thank you we are vollies for St John’s on a training course both weekends and enjoyed every minute of our stay.

Communication with the hotel prior to arriving needs to be addressed. My booking was amended a month prior to arriving but they kept emailing me the original confirmation despite my replies asking for the updated booking. Ended up phoning to confirm. They had me booked for two rooms as well which was incorrect.

Upon arrival I did not have a ground level room like I had originally booked, the sofa bed not made up for my daughter (states in the booking 1 adult 1 child). Asked the receptionist to have this done to be told there's no staff there now to do this but she would do it herself. 7: 45pm I gave up waiting so went and asked for linen, was handed a sheet and pillow cases and I asked about a blanket to which was told she would bring to the room herself. 15 mins later we got a blanket.

Wifi is advertised however it will not let you log into the wifi.

I found black mould in the bathroom. And the smell of the chlorine from the pool in the room was very powerful.

Breakfast was advertised as $25 as a staying guest but I was charged $30 and the bacon, sausages and pancakes were overcooked and dry.

Honestly not worth the money spent to stay here. Will not stay again and certainly do not recommend this hotel to anyone

Only member of staff that had Wonderful customer service was a cleaner named Renee.

Pool was closed no lights in the stair wells. RESTURANT CLOSED private function. We paid $198 no service or care given. Would not recomend this place 4 star price 1 star service.

This place owes me money for cost of clothes and hair treatment. I went in their hot tub while visiting a friend and it had so much chlorine it bleached my bathers and my hair is now brittle and fried. I won't be going there again or suggesting anyone else ever does either.

Very disappointed in our stay, we booked an Executive Suite with a bath, we arrived and checked into our room which was a studio room, went back to reception to be told that is an executive suite and we had one of the better rooms wouldnt recommend, wont stay again, clearly the website needs to be changed and updated

Not worth the money you spend. I never write reviews but I felt people need to know what this place is like. We booked an Executive room with sea views and a bath in the room, (As advertised on their website) only to find out their executive rooms no longer have baths or spas in them. Their response was that they hadn't updated their website yet. (False advertising).
Our sea view room was of a large bush hedge, we could not see the ocean at all from our room unless we walked out onto the grassed area and we could catch a glimpse of the ocean.
Carpets in room also had black stains all on it and the shower had soap scum through tile grout.
Very, very disappointed especially when we paid extra for this room.
Definitely better hotels in town for this price.

Nicely situated - we enjoyed our overnight stay. The staff were very helpful and the food and service in the restaurant were very good.
