Lombadina Aboriginal Corporation reviews
28Came here for a day but the beach is fantastic and the people that live here are friendly.
Well worth the visit. $10 per vehicle to enter. Have a chat Tony and learn all about Lombadina. Again, deflate your tyres and head over to the beautiful beach, just a short drive from the community over the sand dunes. There is a craft shop, artifacts and a TImber Church to see on the property,
Beach certainly a winner, even with limits to area allowed on. $10 to enter town to see the beach, a little rich! Town offers a small area to park up caravan for stay & is in centre of township, not flash but a few were braving it for the night so can't be that bad. Arts & crafts centre provides some interesting pieces to view & purchase. Rest of town not much to offer.
We had booked into Lombardini for 4 nights. Ended up leaving a day early as we had our Ute broken into and had things stolen during the night by the local community people. Location was ok, bit of a walk to the beach. There were about 5 dogs roaming around. Not sure if I’d stay again.
I don’t get the concept of this peninsula. At Lombardi you gotta pay $10 entry fee per vehicle for pretty much nothing (except you’ve booked a tour in advance). The church is alright, the beach too (4x4 access only, too far to walk). At 9am the bakery was already sold out and the craft shop didn’t open at 9.30. We didn’t even stay for an hour.
Cannot recommend this location highly enough. Stunning beach. Friendly people. Lovely, clean accommodation. Not only did we have a beautiful beach all to ourselves, but we also had the company of a gorgeous dog from the community. Beach access is very easy. Saw dolphins that live in the bay. EVERYTHING’S PRISTINA AT LOMBADINA!
Went into office, met a lovely lady who after paying a $10 fee to explained the beach drive to me which I misunderstood a little about the boundary markers being posts not actual signs. Anyway headed up the beach following other tyre tracks and realised I had gone to far so found a place to turn around. Whilst doing so was blocked in by a silver 4wd driven by I presume a community member. He then told me I had gone past the markers, which I apologised for, and to get off the beach immediately and don't come back. Fair enough, I won't! What really peeved me is the way his passenger, his wife maybe not sure, going off her head and screaming in a high pitched banchee like voice at my 80 year old mother inlaw for taking a photo of the ocean. Sorry all "good" people of Lombardina no stars from me.
This is a unique camp ground run by very friendly and helpful people in a small aboriginal community. We camped here in our caravan so cannot comment on the rooms.
Arrived late due to car trouble, rang 2 numbers on office door. A young lady turned up asking if we had a booking, (which we didn’t) told us standard office hours were 8-4 which we read. Said we could come back in morning and pay to go to the beach for a look. Told us to go to Djarindjin Campground they would be open. We left and will not return. We went to Djarindjin where we got a warm welcome and a pleasant stay in a very clean park.
We spent almost a week staying at Lombidina accommodation and had a wonderful and memorable time. We went on the community tour, highly informative; whale watching, fabulous, close and thrilling; mud crabbing, delicious, thanks Bud. The location is breathtaking and the quiet sublime. Thankyou to Lombidina Community for sharing your home and definitely recommend it, we'll definitely be back
We went for the afternoon, paid the $10 entry fee and had a chat with the office staff who were very friendly. Drove onto the beach which was amazing white sand and clear turquoise ocean. Had a swim in 25 degree water, caught a couple of fish and headed back to camp.
Was were not told we had to be off the beach at sunset. Was not explained on camp map we were not allowed. I caught my first fish at 6pm and stayed exactly in the 400 metres of where we were told we were allowed. A lady asked us to leave at 6.15pm. When asked why she could give no reason and shouted we are lucky it was her that told us and not someone else. She shouted we only pay $45 for a night as if we were lower class. I respect the indigenous peoples land. We are given 400 metres of beach each side of a pole to sit on the beach. We didnt mind, we did everything that was asked. As we left the beach the locals were enjoying themselves on the beach. A horrible experience.
We packed our 22 ft caravan up asap as felt very uncomfortable staying.
I feel sorry for the beautiful staff that were so kind to us on arrival.
That lady ruins it for everyone else with her attitude.
An absolute privilege to be given the opportunity to visit this community. Small, low key camping set right amongst the community so that you feel you are part of the daily hum of life. Very well organised and maintained with good clean facilities and a great communal campfire of an evening. Beautiful private beach, even fresh woodfired bread! Fantastic fishing charter and mud crabbing tour (and cook up) with Bud. We also heard from a number of people that the kayaking tour was excellent. The highlight so far of 10 weeks on the road and we will definitely be back again next year
This is a 'must do' on your journey to Cape Leveque. 4-wheel drive only to the beach which is truly amazing. Listen to the instructions of the locals re: driving on the sand. The thatched paperbark roof of the local Christian Missionary church is sensational, especially if you're an old builder like myself.
We are grateful the locals are letting us visit their community but we were a bit disappointed. We only visited for the day ($10/vehicle) and there is not much to do. Craft shop is very average, apparently there is a craft workshop but no one was in there, bakery was closed. Couldn't walk to the beach as it's a long way away, can only drive there. No information about the history of the place. The church is cute and fortunately we were able to buy some bread from the office, but in the end we thought $10 to see a beach, a little church and a little bit of artwork was too much. It would be good to see some artists working maybe or have a few signs about the history of the place, maybe a heritage trail through the village? Since most communities are closed atm there is not much to do around so we would have loved to have an excuse to spend more time there.
Fabulous, friendly and accommodating people. Serene location with a stunning beach and sunsets. We stayed in our caravan experiencing a great community feeling with other campers.
Mud crabbing and fishing with Bud and Darryl were excellent. Mustn't forget the delicious and freshly baked bread! A truly wonderful experience.thank you!
$10 / vehicle is a good rate.simple little village with with access to a gorgeous beach. Have 4x4 experience and aim for the sunset.
This was a very pleasant place to eat our picnic lunch. The lady at the office was very friendly, the paper bark church was very interesting to look at and we were happy to support a first nations tourism venture like this.
Next time we will bring a 4wd so we can go for a drive down to the beach.
Lovely quiet place to stay.we were at one of the smaller cabins, and the other a house - which was almost like a palace.both had more than enough to be comfortable like clean sheets, towels, and toiletries.basic cooking equipment, and fridge.if you're her for work, there's decent tables and chairs to allow you to work on a laptop.if you get to go to the beach in its "backyard" - you should, because it is absolutely lovely, with stunning views.
Trevor & Andrew together with Paul experienced the best fishing charter they have ever been on.caught lots of fish and threw lots back.thank you guys for taking us out.
