Lawley's Bakery Cafe - Nedlands reviews
38 New Englishman on staff Kurt.
Really goes above and beyond with such great service. Smiling and happy pleasure to see.
Stirling Highway. Very Average coffee, not served with a smile. 2 weeks and the ladies toilet is still out of commission there's a sign to say use the MENS toilet, it smells. Staff toilet must work though because the door is locked. Has a delightful outdoor lunch area fragrant with orange blossom. If you're still drinking coffee at 430pm when they start banging the chairs on the tables you'll soon get the message to leave.
Standard range of cakes and pies.
Very overpriced and the service is terrible. The mocha I ordered was overly milky and the lady at the counter took 5 minutes to acknowledge us before taking our orders and there was no one else in the store. First and last time I will be here
A pretty standard Lawleys, they offer a range of pre-made savoury and sweet baked goods at this venue that has some indoor seating but is also good for takeaway. The food is what you expect - it's ok for a bakery cafe but quite ordinary and unexciting but familiar.
Service is ok but just feels a bit unhappy.
WORST bacon and egg roll I ever had, it was like eating the side of a table. Wife asked for a toasted sandwich on multigrain bread 3 times and still got normal bread. Very disappointed and definitely won’t be back
Regularly purchase 2 pies for $7 each - tad expensive, but tasty pies. Just checked my back statement and there is a 98c credit card surcharge so essentially 2 pies cost $15! I did not see this surcharge advertised, nor have any of the staff on the till advised anything other than the $14 charge. Is this legal? I will be voting with my feet - the pies aren't THAT good. No other business from chiropractors, garden centres, pharmacies or other hospitality venues added ANY surcharge to purchases on my bank statement, so Lawley's charges seem excessive and were definitely unexpected.
Waited 25 minutes for a toasted sandwich, which came out untoasted and a cold pie. Staff were very apologetic, but spoiled a great brunch. Realise staff numbers are low, at least let us know, then we can deal with it.
Poor quality pastries. It just tasted stale.could barely finish half.was such a waste. Long wait on a Tuesday afternoon. Only one staff serving but kind service which is the only reason why I didn’t give a 2 star rating.
Always nice, both Nedlands and Wembley Lawley’s stores. Good coffee, great food, great variety.
Lawleys used to be one of Perths best bakeries. 15 years ago there was a wait list of restaurants wanting their bread.
Now, I feel it has become to commercial. Pies are average and reminiscent of something you would get at your local petrol station.
Bread is flavourless and dry. Unfortunately I won't be returning.
Visited a few times.
Pros
Lovely and inviting ambience. Great location and easy to access. Delicious bread especially the light sourdough loaf.
Cons
Inconsistent customer service; at times good and at times ok only. Coffee tastes good only after letting it sit for ten minutes.
They should be embarrassed to call themselves a bakery yet serve the very obviously old and stale croissant and pretzel we ordered. Won't be back.
Great place for dining for breakfast a lot of choices, only downside no labels for the products you have ask the staff for the specific pastries, cakes or bread. Nonetheless, 5 star rating overall will definitely dine in again whenever around the area
Lawley's came up in conversation as one of best bakeries in Perth. So, when I had the opportunity to stop by, I did!
What can I say. The doughnut I had was good, but it was no better than a good doughnut I've had at other excellent bakeries.
I didn't buy anything else, I would have if the service was better.
I'm not going to come here again but I can cross it off my "been there, fine that" list.
Don't know what's happened to Lawleys in the last few months
I've visited two or three of their shops and the girls serving were awful.
From totally ignoring me to being so blunt, if I could compare it to a knife I'd never cut anything with it.
The food is average as well and always out of the things I need.
Like custard donuts
Please employ nicer girls and put more in your rolls.
So I stumbled across this place and what a great atmosphere. They do an amazing scrambled egg wrap.
A nice little Cafe we called into on our way to Fremantle to get the ferry to Rottnest Island. A variety of baking items and hot drinks
From a grateful customer who is able to get a replacement loaf of gluten free bread so easily and Sue was so helpful in ensuring the process. Thanks Sue
Kudos to the Baker or Chef but service is very average. Not bad service but everyone there always looks tired/hungover/not wanting to be there.a lot of room for improvement. If anyone goes here I'd recommend anything that comes out of thier bread oven for sure, sourdough is great and also their sossy rolls.
Food and drinks were great, except my vanilla slice was still frozen in the middle. Would still come back again though, staff are lovely
