La Cholita

Went here for a work Christmas lunch, booked months in advance. It was a hot day, we were outside in a heat box directly under the sun, with no working air conditioning and not a care in the world that we had a pregnant woman with us. We were literally dripping with sweat, crammed on a table too small for us to all eat at, some of us had to stand due to the little eating space and heat. They told us we could move if a table became available inside, we could see tables available never heard from them again. The customer service was disgraceful. Not even a free drink or small discount for the inconvenience. The food was nice but the service was an absolute let down and we wont be returning.

We really enjoyed the place. The spicy duck taquitos were the best. My wife also enjoyed the Mexican street corn and the 3 cheeses quesadilla. I had 3 tacos. All good, but I think the slow cooked pork was the best. Service was very good. We went during lunch and it wasn't that busy but in the evening I expect it is crowded.

Poor service and overpriced. We ordered two jarrito bottled sodas - the server poured half a 500ml bottle for each drink and then proceeded serve the remainder of the small 500ml bottle to another customer. We were charged $6 each for half a soft drink. The food was ok but in very small portions - the Angus beef was $36 for a few small slices and nothing else.

Overall service was laughable - we sat down at a table, the server told us that we have to wait to be seated so we got up and waited at the front door for a different waiting to come and seat us at the same table. It took a long time to order drinks and gave overall impression that the servers don’t want to be there.

Came here on a Sunday night around 5: 30 for a birthday dinner. It wasn't super busy but there was a nice vibe going and the music was good. We tried the pico de gallo, most of the tacos, tuna tostadas and papas fritas. Everything was super tasty a standout would be the papas fritas and the crispy prawn tacos. There was a lack of vegetarian options for the tacos.
The margaritas were also delicious and was pleasantly surprised with the cerveza options:)
It is quite pricey as a single taco was $10 and there wasn't even a double shell. Also there was a lack of 'main' meal options only pricier meat servings which you then had to order tortilla's/rice/beans separately.
I would come again but would caution against coming for a big feed. Would recommend as a good spot to have drinks with a snack on the side.

La Cholita provides excellent service and a flavour bomb of food.

Their sauces are as spicy as the range of cocktails they have.

Their Nachos & Angus beef were alright but the Pork Belly is my personal favourite

Food was fantastic, that’s a definite winner. Seating arrangements weren’t great though. I’d booked a table for 2 not know they didn’t have tables for less than 4 so we were seated along the bar. There’s no foot rests along the bar front so for shorter people it’s quite awkward and uncomfortable to maneuver. There’s also sections of floor with less strength than others so every time someone walked over those sections behind us, our chairs jolted backwards. Not fun when you’re trying to eat a delicate taco.
Slightly better lighting would also be great. For a restaurant primarily serving food, the lighting was too dark. Fine in a bar with nibbles, but not for multi course eating. Even the bartenders struggled to see.
Only other small gripe was that we found it tricky and awkward to flag someone to take our orders. The bartenders were always busy and I hate interrupting people working. We had to wait until they glanced in our direction and hope for the best.

I would happily go back again because the food really was good. But I would not be happy seated at the bar again and I would implore them to review the brightness of their lighting just a little.

Came to the restaurant last night for a date night with my husband, we’ve been in Perth six months and total foodies and this was absolutely the best restaurant we have yet to visit. The food was incredible, the cocktails were great, there was a really good atmosphere and all the staff are really nice. Thanks guys! Will definitely be back!

I was definitely not expecting what I walked into with this restaurant but it was a great surprise - it is quite dark inside however for me this added to the ambiance. It is a lively, bustling place and food was great.

Approx 5pm drinks and snack before moving on. Seated at the bar at an empty restaurant due to bookings. Never staying long so prefer the option of leaving a table by a certain time. Place was still pretty empty when we left.
Drinks were fantastic. Great recommendation of tequila from one server. Had some trouble getting the attention of the bar staff with one server blatantly ignored us even though I was waving at him. We were seated at the almost empty bar. Hard to miss.
Only a couple of snacks. Guac is pure heaven. Barramundi ceviche fresh and bright but the pork belly taco was too fatty and the bread went soggy too quickly.
I’d return again for a drink and snack. Unfortunate a few staff let the place down this time but I know it’s hard to find good workers at the moment.

Bubbly place:) i booked the table just in case and yeah that was right decision.it was 5: 30 lil bit early dinner time but already very hectic.overall not bad and willing to visit again ‘only for the drinks’

One of Perth's greatest dining experiences. Great food should punch you in the face with flavour, and when you sit at the bar at La Cholita and eat their delicious tacos, you could very well be knocked off your stool such is the quality of their food and tequila. Phenomenonal value too. Highly recommend this fantastic restaurant!

$20pp to making a booking is a bit much, customer service is non-existent, ambience is more like a nightclub with the music being overly loud.

I don't like the $20/person deposit on a booking. The place isn't that special to require a deposit. It took awhile to get a drink even though I was sitting at the counter. The food was okay but a bit pricey for what it is. Worth trying again with a group of friends to try some other dishes.

Been this today, better get there before 12: 30 for the busy time. Nice food but tacos charged $6 per unit! Cocktails normal price, music a bit loud but still a nice atmosphere for drinks n bites

Average. More Staff clearly needed. Bar staff also need better lighting. Took too long to get our drinks. Margarita tasted like cordial. For $18 I expected more. They forgot our starter and tacos were mediocre. If any positives, the Baja fish taco wasn’t bad. Definitely not a five star experience in my case.

First i order a michelada, definitely no one have ever have a michelada there ever, small glass no even the whole can of beer could fit in it, the rim of the salt in the glass was omg, how easy could be to check how to do it properly in youtube! Food really average, imposible to talk without yelling.

Non of this guys have ever been to Mexico thats a fact.

Honestly lots to work to became a mexican restaurant this is just an aliexpress version of it.

I had dinner and drinks with a group here a few years ago. The service team was not on point, they were mixing up orders throughout the time we were there. When we went to pay we were told that we could not pay for the individual items we ordered and that each person would have to go back to the menu and calculate it for themselves. As a result it wasn't until after that we realised they charged us for a number of drinks that nobody ordered or received (We had been primarily eating dinner and were not drinking heavily.) And for students it was a lot of money to be out on. I went back three times to ask for a refund, each time the shift manager said it was out of their control and that they would get the owner to call me back, which they never did. It left a very sour taste, I have never wanted to go back since.

Sunday 10/4 evening I went for a couple of margaritas with friends. When we went to pay we split in 7, when it was my turn I asked to see the eftpos to see the amount and the waitress snatched my card from my hand to tap it on the machine after I asked to see the amount! I mean seriously? La cholita was a really good bar but these episodes can change the reputation in a moment. Not going back.

My friend had her 30th dinner booked and had 4 friends bail on her last minute. There was still 7 people in attendance but the waiter felt the need to tell her she should pay $60 apology fee to the kitchen for not having the full amount of people. After getting another waitress we told her we still wanted the food but only for 7 people. Over an hour later and we ask the staff for the food and they say they thought we were only there for drinks. Got the starters for the supper menu and they were ice cold - like only just defrosted. A couple of staff members weee understanding of the situation and were kind but we had a few that were completely rude. Probably will never go back there unless I’m invited and even then I’ll tell the person hosting to go someone else.

Great atmosphere and friendly staff with excellent service I find that it's a bit pricey for what you get but overall I'll go back again
