Kiwi Fish & Chips

Long time customer (our go-to f&c for roughly 8 years). This place is slowly dying a very sad death - it used to be great - but certainly not these days.

I feel for the owner - as he has been running it for sooo long.but sadly, the food isn't like it used to be.nor the quality of staff that he employs these days (think his kids used to work in shop awhile back?).

[EDIT SEPT 2023]: again poor form.just as walked into store (phone order), they gave our order to someone else. Apparently his name was Steven.yeah not even close to my name except for the S.

Atleast other guy got a good deal, just hope he didn't pay the extra price.as his was only meant to be 1 wrapped parcel, not a whole box full!

We also specifically asked for aussie basket + other items to be wrapped separately.as 1 person wanted extra salt added.

Spring roll wasn't what we were used to from buying from here. So we called to find out what was going on. Girl on phone was rude to us. Spoke to owner, he said they haven't been able to source "marathon spring rolls" due to floods. Instead they had substituted it for a vegetarian spring roll version.
Would've been nice if they'd told us when placing order.

[EDIT 2021]: They are back up to the same great standard i remember from years ago. Have upgraded my rating to 5 stars.

Also their scallops have the roe on - something that sets this place apart from your "average" fish and chips.

Parking always used to be an issue, but currently there is heaps due to sizzler closing.

[EDIT 2019]: Have noticed the quality has slipped compared to where it was even 12 months ago (unsure exact reason, as it is still the same friendly staff - maybe they are more "under the pump"?)

You guys lost a customer tonight. Been coming here for over 5 years but no more. Look guys I get it, your busy which is good. But please tell your customer's that your busy and there might be a wait. By empowering us you give us a choice, 30 minutes wait for some fish and chips is a bit rich. And I got nothing. Pretty poor. I'll report you now.

Wow! Absolutely loved our meal here tonight. This was our first visit and can tell you we 100% will be back again, by far the best fish n chips we've had in Perth. Everything was hot, fresh, crispy and delish - we had squid, crab sticks, dimmies, scallops (roe on amazing), potato scallops (so thin n crisp!) and the crispiest chips you could ever imagine!

Got piece of hoki cost $12 was about $2 worth of fish asked for grilled was under cooked wouldn't go back first and last time

Very disappointed with price for what we received for dinner tonight.
Wouldn't recommend there Fish and Chips to anyone.

A very solid place to try some Kiwi culture cuisine- it's got a mixed bag vibe but the overarching theme is classic fish and chips casual, which I was grateful for.

Was excited to find a kiwi fish & chip shop in Perth, but was pretty disappointed. Was told it would be a 20 minute wait, ended up being 40. Uber Eats etc being prioritised. Oil didn’t taste right, food dry and bland.
Wasn’t impressed that my partner and I ordered two meals and they were wrapped together. I don’t eat fish, so wasn’t happy that my chips and hotdog were touching the fish, and chips not divided as per the portions we individually ordered. No chicken salt as requested.
Only good thing was the sauces.

Cause it's the best Fish n Chips in Perth. Always worth the drive out to the shop. Superseded by Maylands Fork n Good Fish n Chips.

Always cooked perfectly, I have been going to this shop for as long as I remember, never disappointed, the potato scallops are the best.

Old school kind of place for when you need that kind of fish and chips fix. They have L&P and Fresh Ups.

I've seen a few 'kiwi fish and chips' in Oz, and this one's on point! Mussel fritters were bomb, wish I brought more! I usually hate the fish in Oz, but this place done well! The young girl at the counter was so good too! I'll recommend everyday of the week

Sorry did not enjoy, cannot recommend. I like my fish and chips crispy however mine was very soggy/greasy. Would suggest having cooking oil at a higher temperature for better results. Wont be back.

My partner Called and asked if there prices were the same as there are different websites with different different prices I could literally hear some grumpy old man in the back ground saying “hang up hang up” and the worker on the phone did. I guess no harm done as I didn’t spend any money there thankfully just thought I’d let you know my experience. I wouldn’t recommend just because of the rude service didn’t even get to try the food.

If you value your health don't go here. Will allow customers to be in store without mask while coughing up several lungs. When asked why the customers don't have to wear masks the question was ignored. Won't go back.

Currently the absolute worst fish n chip shop in Perth. To use the name Kiwi is a disgrace! Ordered 2 x bluecod (neither were bluecod, and smelt very off).
Highly recommend you steer well clear of this joint. 0 out of 5 for sure
