As someone who went to Kensington I can happily say that it was the best 8 years of my life. I was constantly surrounded by oppurtunities and great teachers. My year 6 teacher Mr G made my last year of primary memorable. This school is so involved with the students and parents through events like the school camp out, the disco night, they year 5 sleepover and the year 6 camp. I was so sad to leave this school after creating so many memories and making so many friends. I will never forget the impact this school had on my life.

Good school. The teachers were chill but still taught some stuff. Playgrounds where fun, and some of the teachers would actually play cricket and footy with us.

As someone who went to this primary school, I give my honest opinion when I say it was great. The community is amazing, not to mention the great opportunities they provide the school and students with. Not only is the community good though, as so many of the teachers there are really good, making the experience even more enjoyable. Some of the events they host include the Dads Ducks Camp and The Kensington Fete every five years. They also have events for the students such as the Year 5 Sleepover and Year 6 camp, as well as an annual disco for all years. I would definitely recommend this primary school.

This review is a long time coming. I can only now fairly judge it now that my son, who attended in pre-primary, is 18 and left school. Our experience at Kensington Primary was nothing short of horrific. My beautiful, gifted little boy was bullied constantly by one boy to the point that even the school staff admitted he wasn't safe there but nothing would be done to guarantee his safety. One time he had been given a black eye and huge bruise to his forehead. The final straw was seeing him pushed off the old shed near pre-primary backwards onto the bitumen. Fortunately he did not hit his head. We were so close to getting the police involved but our boy had been through enough. And if that wasn't bad enough his learning disorder was completely missed by his tracher. He was a well behaved, caring, clever boy who has a neurological disorder affecting his processing and memory. She just thought he was lazy and poorly disciplined (he was not, in fact strangers regularly commented on what a good boy he was). We moved, found a beautiful new school with a ZERO tolerance to bullying policy. He was diagnosed, nurtured and went from Ds and Es to As and Bs. And he started to find some of his happines back. Sadly the vibrant little boy we knew never returned fully after that traumatic year and he still sees a therapist for the trauma. But he's successfully in his dream career as lead front-end software developer for awesome bosses, and he's rightfully proud of himself. All thanks to brilliant, caring teachers, and a great school. Shame that wasn't Kensington.

My Son had the best experience for his Pre-Primary. He had the best teachers, we felt so sad that we had to leave the area.

The teachers are only there for money. They don't care about the kids and the grounds are badly maintained. The only thing i like about this school is the good community.

It’s a wonderful school. The principal and teachers are very nice. They teach students by heart. I’m so grateful for all that they’ve done.

Finished school there honestly not that good they don't deal with bullying that well and the new principles and vice principals are very rude and most the teachers are only in it for the money

Primary School Review

Altogether this was an amazing school to go to with friendly class mates with different backgrounds, however there was not much of diverse community. The staff treated us well but sometimes weren't fair and gave kids a straight out detention and gave other kids hundreds of warnings per day. There were also very bad teachers that just came to school for the money. Once when i went to the school there was a substitute music teacher while the normal music teacher went on long service leave. Two of my friends started mucking around in music and playing with the instruments. At the end of the lesson that particular teacher told these kids to stay inside because she wanted to talk to them. This is exactly what she said, "I don't care if you guys don't learn anything, as long as I get paid i'm fine. " Imagine if a parent knew about what this teacher said. This teacher would get fired on the spot! However, a lot of the other teachers did not believe this story even though it came from a number of different witnesses. Altogether KPS is actually a great school but needs to work on hiring the correct staff. The only staff that teach well at this school are the staff that work up at the senior block as they actually teach us how to get ready for the absolute torture that is High School. The school grounds are also quite nice. Fortunately, during my time there they installed some new playgrounds and new play areas making my time there actually worth while. The school offered the SIMS program to musically talented students and gave them free lessons of the instrument of their choosing. That's a thumbs up to KPS. While the school didn't often have field trips, we had a lot of incursions from different people across WA which were amusing to watch. One of the only rules I think that KPS should change is the fact that no Skateboarding is allowed. I don't understand why they let kids go on BMXs and Scooters and not let skateboarders ride on there grounds. I remember when I was there there were kids doing wheelies on their bikes and the teachers seemed to be fine with it even though there were many parents and their children in the area. One of the best things was that on the last day of school we got to do nothing for the whole day and just have a break from school. Thanks KPS for making my time worthwhile. Just make sure you hire the right teachers next time.

PS.
A lot of kids from very dark backgrounds come to KPS so I personally think that we should hire better counsellors who don't tell boring stories about magical dinosaurs because, that doesn't help anyone and nobody wants to sit through that during assembly.

Friendly school community. Lots of grassy areas and open space in the playground. School philosophy encourages participation across all activities. Fantastic whole-school athletic and swimming carnivals.

Poor management/administration has driven this this school into the ground. Not recommended, especially given the uniform pricing.
