Kennedy Baptist College

This school has the potential to be amazing. Many teachers believe they know everything in the world and will rarely actually listen to kids. There are a few good teachers like Mrs Toh or Mr foster but there are also many terrible teachers. This school can be amazing for some people and it has the ability to be amazing to everyone if they changed how the school treated its students. Majority of the people who go to this school are not Christians but the school still forces the Christian Ed classes on the students. These Christian beliefs have also impacted learning. There have been occasions when learning that teachers have passed off scientific answers for something like "We all know the world was created by god" instead of teaching about the big bang or evolution. This school cares more about its reputation then the students and has forced students out of ATAR classes so they keep up the appearance of being a good school. I believe this is not a problem of the school but by its principal Mr Ashby (Mashby). The schools uniform rules are pretty terrible. For males in summer and winter if your shirt is untucked you can get a demerit and 25 of those you are expelled in winter if your top button is not done up properly even if it is your shirt is to small or something like that its a demerit also the socks why do males have to wear grey socks that have to be changed to the white socks for sport and back again where as the girls can just wear the white socks it is just stupid. The Females uniform is also strict.in summer they wear a dress which all the the teachers give out demerits because its 1 mm shorter than its meant to be. In winter the females uniform is a white blouse blue skirt and stocking which are optional.the skirt length is also very heavily regulated and if it is too short or if there is anything slightly wrong its a demerit. The school has also banned carrying your phone on you which is completely unnecessary and stupid they believe this will improve the education of student but the students have figured out other things to do that are just as bad if not worse. The send out system is also very broken, if you get 5 send outs you are expelled and some of these send outs can be from touching someone eases computer, to giving a pencil or pen to your friend. Many teachers are blind with power and try and exert this power on the students. Then there is the special needs children or Mentally ill, They try and make out they have great pastoral care but it is absolutely terrible. They treat the students who have mental health problems like they are infected with Ebola or something. The teachers try and show that they are supporting them but what they do is just try make themselves look good by talking to them but end up embarrassing the student or telling everyone in the class that something that the student wanted kept private. They have school counsellors who say that whatever you say will be kept in confidentiality but end up telling the whole staff team and embarrassing the student or even bullying the student in the case of my sister who got pulled up in front of the class and yelled at that she was bringing the class down because she is not smart enough (jokes on that teacher she got the award for that subject in yr 12). I would not recommend this school to anyone right now as the school needs to get its priorities in check. But i would tell all parents with kids who have special needs or anything that would not be considered "normal" to avoid this school because they will have a terrible time.

As a parent of a student with Learning Difficulties, I would recommend Kennedy. The Learning Support staff are very helpful. They are very busy and you will need to keep up the lines of communication though.

Most of the teachers at Kennedy display their passion for teaching and create safe learning environments for their students. Communication with teachers is easy via their direct message system.

The demerit system is effective in managing student behaviour. However, it is difficult for all staff to be consistent as to what is accepted and what isn't at times.

The learning opportunities offered are varied and promoted to all interests and passions.

The Beedawong Cafeteria is well managed with an abundance of healthy food on offer! The staff are very welcoming if you get a chance to volunteer to help out in the Cafe.

Have two children attending currently and we are extremely happy with our choice. Communication between parents and the school is fantastic and the care and compassion of all of the teachers of wanting our children to reach their best both academically and personally is great. Would highly recommend Kennedy to anyone

The teacher was very friendly and had a good time in class. One class was over before he knew it.

All the good reviews are teachers and teachers pets and the bad reviews are actually true from students so dont send anyone else here otherwise they will want to move like everyone else including me but unfortunately most are stuck because of parents, not knowing where else to go or. Anyway all you learn is how to become a christian and most of the school isnt. 99% of teachers are bad and create stress for students with tons of homework. Greatttt Schoolllllll

Hello my opinion is Kennedy try to hard they should respect there gorgeous children but no they don’t! They don’t care about them at all education is key but apparently LOYALTY is lost at the door like hella we are an evolving sosciety wake up!

Legit I got so many send outs for nothing to many rules and honestly just let kids be kids at school and not sitting in chairs for a period just writing off the board and sexist I can’t hug a boy but I can hug a girl, and so many ppl deal and do drugs ain’t even funny and I just miss my friends from there, got a send out for saying ‘that’s what she said’ and for choking on my pen rip I like Lakelands better
