Our recent visit to Kalahari - A Taste of Africa in Willetton, Perth was nothing short of extraordinary! As a group of eight colleagues celebrating our end-of-year lunch, we were treated to a unique and delightful experience that left us raving about this hidden gem.

The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the "choose your own steak" concept, allowing us to handpick our favorite cuts from the fridge, and watching as the skilled chefs transformed them into mouthwatering masterpieces. The personalized touch to our meals made the dining experience both interactive and memorable.

The ambiance at Kalahari is warm, inviting, and exudes a cozy charm. It provided the perfect backdrop for our gathering, creating an atmosphere where we could relax, unwind, and savor the delicious flavors of African cuisine. The attentive and friendly staff added to the overall positive vibe, making us feel right at home.

Beyond the delightful main courses, the coffee at Kalahari deserves a special mention. Served with care and precision, it was the perfect accompaniment to our hearty meal. The attention to detail in every aspect of our dining experience, from the food to the service, truly sets Kalahari apart.

For those looking to bring a taste of Africa into their own kitchens, Kalahari offers a unique selection of African spices and dried meats. We couldn't resist taking some home to continue the culinary adventure at our own dinner tables.

In conclusion, Kalahari - A Taste of Africa is more than just a restaurant; it's an immersive culinary journey. Whether you're looking for a place to enjoy a delicious lunch, sip on excellent coffee, or explore the vibrant world of African flavors, Kalahari is the perfect destination. Our end-of-year celebration was elevated to a whole new level thanks to the delightful offerings and warm hospitality at Kalahari. We can't wait to return for another unforgettable dining experience. Thank you.

Food here is excellent, as is the service. Although not South African myself, I am reliably informed that the cuisine is like "being at home".

The staff and proprietors are friendly and efficient and this is both an excellent place to have breakfast/lunch as well as to stock on imported favourites.

I love coming here and often return

Had the opportunity to eat and purchase dry food items. Had most of the imported food items. Great service.

Very disappointed at Kalahari in Willeton yesterday, with new ownership.
The Lamb curry and rice with no salad, coconut cream was flavourless, very small portion just a pity I didn't took a foto, not good at all, and in a enamel dog container for $29.
My wife had Boerewors and chips, but the Boerewors was over grilled, dried out, they did offer to replace the Boerewors.
Im sorry we will definitely not be going back to this business anymore under this management

What a fantastic place to spend some time with friends and have an awesome meal
We went there 4 or 5 times over a 3 week period and was never disappointed even for a table of 10. My favourite was the Bobotie vetkoek, if you don’t know what that is I hope your curiosity will take you there to try it. Friendly hands on owners always present

We are so glad we came across this gem. The food and service were of high standard and we enjoyed it.
We had steak (which we chose from the fridge), lamb curry and Russian & chips. All cooked to perfection. We will definitely be back

I was shown this place by a South African family. They said it was the closest thing to being back home. This shop is family run with love and passion for the African culture.
The variety of food and the friendly staff always make for a good experience.
I always come back for the dried meats as it’s the best in Perth

I dined in for the very first time with my two babies under 5 this afternoon (table name EISH). For starters, I am not sure how the table names are allocated but I wont go there. We waited for a very long time (30 minutes+) till my 5 year old started complaining that he was getting really hungry. I watched other customers who came after us being served.

Around the 20 minute mark, I had to physically ask how our order was progressing for it to be brought out a few minutes after. I sadly won't dine in again.

A huge shout out/thanks to the barrister who made my boy's day by giving him an extra marshmallow and was super friendly:)

This place is elite and has a great selection of wines too in their bottle shop. The bunny chow and lamb curry in fried bread was a highlight. I literally missed my first born take his first steps while I was here and frankly I’m not sure I regret not being there for it. 10/10

In my opinion by far the best South African place to have a meal and have a drink in Perth. It was so good I returned twice within a week. The rooibos cappuccino's are amazing and so is the food. Thank you for the lovely service and the great sized portioned meals. Will certainly return when in WA next.
