My son went into anaphylaxis shock and was rushed by ambulance from urgent care to the emergency department. We were treated by so many wonderful and caring staff. My son couldn’t have been in safer hands.

DON’T USE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT IF CAN BE AVOIDED, go to next nearest hospital.

24 days ago I was admitted by ambulance to the emergency department due to severe, excruciating adnominal pain.
After a 6 hour wait to see a doctor and poorly been looked after by the nurses that were on duty. I was given strong pain killers after about an hour rest as my pain had subsided, I was then told that I would be discharged and sent home as the head doctor assumed that I had a ruptured cyst from polycystic ovaries this was guessed from the bloods taken. I took their word as they are suppose to be ‘qualified professionals’ and they would not allow my insistence on an ultra sound to make sure that’s what the problem was. My pain began to start again as they pretty much pushed my into the waiting room and I sat around for my ride to arrive (my partner had to rangle up and organise our 2 little kids). Head leaning on the glass because I was dead tiered and exhausted and starting to be in pain again, no follow up care whilst I waited in the emergency department and they were fully aware I was in pain again, I could of been deceased for all anyone knew.

I then went to a GP who provided me a referral for an ultrasound (baffled that the emergency department did not provide this whilst I was there in pain and to back up their assumption).

Ultrasound was done and the gentlemen who did the scan asked me to go straight the emergency as I had erupted appendix (appendicitis).
I had to have an emergency appendectomy (not at Joondalup) which has caused a hell of a lot of extra healing time than if it had actually been removed when they ruptured at Joondalup.

The Joondalup Health Campus seems to have clowns as head doctors who think they are all knowing because of a qualification and think they are above backing up their diagnosis.

For any one reading this do not use Joondalup Health Compus! I would hate for anyone else to go through what I have the last 2 weeks.

* I would in fact rate this hospital at a zero for its utter poor care and ignorance

I have taken my elderly father here a couple of times for various emergencies. The staff are amazing, kind empathetic and prioritise appropriately. I have while in the waiting area witnessed several people demanding to be seen urgently when the Triage Nurse has advised them to please wait. After they are advised they have to wait, they storm out with abuse, clearly not an emergency.

I want to shout out to all the wonderful nurses and staff working in the emergency room. Last weekend I was admitted with pretty severe food poisoning and started receiving care very promptly, even being provided some medication in the waiting room. Got through to a bed very quickly and was looked after by a wonderful nurse named Bec, thank you so much Bec! Even though it was quite a wait before the doctor was able to see me, the nurses provided such good care throughout my time there that I came right pretty quickly. Thank you wonderful staff at Joondalup Hospital

I write to commend and thank the staff of the ED on Tuesday 25 July who cared so professionally and compassionately for a young couple from Vanuatu here as seasonal harvesters, and for the first time in the Australian culture.

The care offered to the wife after a scary and for a time debilitating medical event in a remote work place nearly 2 hours from Joondalup and your capacity in your incredibly busy work flow to give consideration and permission for me to be present with them as a support person, speaks volumes about the excellence of your training, of your business work ethos, and the dedication and character of your staff.

To the Lancelin ambulance team who were first to reassure this couple whose homeland medical experiences can be unnerving, the telephone operators who respectfully & efficiently paved the way for me to be present with this fine couple, the hugely skilled tech staff in Ultra sound, ECG, & Xray, and the incredibly proficient Drs and nurses we met during the two part shifts that we were with you, I extend my deep thanks for your kind and generous assistance.

You made a huge impact on the three of us, and with each interaction offered assurance, comfort and hope.
It has been said often - and I say again - you are heroes in a extremely difficult profession.
Please know that your influence goes deeper than just healing the physical body.
Your connection with your patients changes lives and restores faith, hope and confidence at some of the scariest times in peoples lives.
Yours is indeed a "Calling" and you need to know and remember that your smiles & words, kindness, and greatly skilled actions reduce the trauma to hasten the healing physically, emotionally and mentally.
Contact with the couple today is testimony to that.
Thank you and bless you all.

Absolutely Horrible experience, poor care, negligence and unprofessionals.
I took in my 10 month old baby after he hurt his arm. There was 3 kids before us and they lef us wait for over 3h, which was sucks but ok I can understand they are bussy…
After we were seen by the “doctor” she told us our son has “pulled elbow” and didn’t even want to do X-ray or anything.my partner and I pushed for X-ray which they did on the end and we were assured he is fine to go home and no additional treatment was needed…BUT.our baby wasn’t improving so we took him back in a few days to double check as something didn’t felt right.and we found he had broken bone! This “doctor” left my 10mo almost week with broken arm because she didn’t do her job properly. So now he is in cast and waiting for appointment with orthopaedic surgeon to see if he will need surgery or not.just because it started heal already in bad position and they can’t fix it as they could week ago…
While we were furiously waiting for PCH consult decide what they want to do, head of department ER Joondalup came to us with first sentence “as we can’t know when this happened “ with obvious try to make light of their mistake… we decided to put official complaint.

As this is not first incident with this hospital, I feel right to write this review in hope it will give parents clear look on this place.if you have choice choose different place to make sure your kids will get proper treatment.

We are not coming back and will rather travel to PCH.

Came for heart pain, chest pain, left arm pain, and shortness of breath.this is a MESS of a hospital.very disorganised, i was left alone in a treatment room for way too long, nurses expected me to know where other nurses were and what was going on when i was confused and ill.nurse did not know how to take blood, which from the hand with a butterfly needle is so beyond easy to do.it was unnecessarily slow and painful.they did a 10 second, yes 10 second, ecg print and determined my diagnosed heart block from 28 days of holter monitoring didn’t even exist.left without treatment, still in pain.also, as a former housekeeper, i watched the “cleaner” and the bathrooms were “done” in less than five minutes.so disgusting.

Went in with extremely bad pains, nausea and many other not fun symptoms.
Bloods done and levels were out but decided because I wasn't dying I can go home and manage pain. Even though this has been going on for over 1.5 years.
I just want answers! But can never get them just get sent on my merry way with pain meds that don't do anything! No wonder people die from not being treated we just keep getting sent off instead of getting scans or tests done to find said issue. Isn't that what hospitals are for? To find what's causing it and fix you or admit you?

Like everyone else, I wish the wait times were shorter. The nurses are caring and treat you well if you treat them well, they have a hard job after all!

Nurses are very rude towards overseas people. I am never gonna visit this hospital never. I came at1 pm waited untill 8pm, at 6pm first blood pressure checked told to wait outside and when i asked at 8pm, they told that i was out from the hospital and they gave the sit to other patient but we were there since 1 round. They were very rude also don’t know how to manage. Please whoever wanting to go there just first review the comments and then go

Absolutely appalled how long the wait was and how the staff acted. I came in for shortness of breath and it got worse within the 2 hour wait. Whilst taking my details at the first desk the nurse stopped me from talking to conversate with the nurses behind him, absolutely disgusting.

I expressed this to them my breathing was getting worse they just said we will have someone come check on you, which was only a nurse asking if I needed pain relief that was it! …

Absolutely non professional. They got me into covid section and forgot about me for 24h. They also lost the results for my infection as they were too busy putting me in isolation for covid without any symptoms! Get changed of room at 1am two days later. Doctors are definitely not the top of the line telling me I’m probably gonna loose a toe! Rooms are noisy.
WORST PLACE EVER!

This place needs a serious shake up. Where is the executive team. As care providers you are failing. Shame on you all. Do not believe the estimated wait times for emergency departments given on the WA gov health site. Wheel chair had flat tyres. Staff are less than polite or helpful. Exec team get out there and see how you are failing people who come for care.

I got to the emergency department at 6: 30 p.m. With a irregular heart rate and had previously suffered from heart failure I finally got in at 6 a.m. The following morning and was then left in one of the emergency beds till roughly 11 am I was waiting to have a cardioversion to put my heart back in rhythm. For this I had to fast so could not have anything to eat they then came and told me they couldn't fit me in for the cardioversion so they would ring me with an appointment to have one done the next week I never heard from them I got to the emergency department at 6: 30 a.m. I left at 12: 30 p.m. The next day with no sleep and no food
