Love this place. Have only been a few times but the love, enthusiasm and knowledge can be felt walking through the doors. Their FB page is also a treasure trove of honesty and information.

Not quite sure where to start, I was stuck, I knew what I had to do, but I could not motivate myself. I had tried keto and knew it was a good fit for me before. Then I remembered Gills Jar and Platter were doing meal packs, I had to try, I went for the 7 DAY KETO PLAN, 3 meals a day for 7 days totally catered for, yes for some of us price is a pain point but when I thought about what I spent visiting a supermarket more than once a week, plus buying my lunches I was quids in and I didnt have to constantly organise it everything was done.
It was yummy, nutricious the right portion size, Gill even gave me the milk. Initially I had the headache but now am feeling amazing lost a couple of kilos its only been a week and a half but the reduced inflamation I look and feel tiny. I am going on holiday soon and I am gonna take it with me beats any hotel food and keeps you away from possible covid hotspots.
My only problem is I am leaving town and I doubt I am gonna find a jewel like this elsewhere, thought of a franchise Gill. I highly recommend trying it if you need to change your eating habits, I hope its a great fit for you also.
Keep up the great work Guys

I had a selection of deserts from Jar and Platter as not many places have keto desserts on hand. So I was keen to try this out when I found out about this establishment.

Entering the establishment I was greeted by a couple of young staff members, one who I believed to be son of the owner and a obvious new starter. I wasn’t able to have any basic Keto macro questions answered.

Alarm bells for someone trying to stick to their macros that they don’t know the carb count on their own cooking. I was willing to take a punt and ignore the unknown macros issues.

The second thing I noticed is a very strange smell that I couldn’t place. It was very off putting. Something like old off Parmesan cheese?

Anyway, I digress.

Keto Brownie: this was horrible. From the first bite I felt physically sick. There was too much coco. And I’m not sure if it’s Lupin flour some Type of seed filler - but it was just gross. I spat it out 1/10.

Mini Lemon meringue pie: I tried two different types here, one with a meringue crusting and one with just the lemon curd. The base of the pie was sickening - it was so overly sweet and tasted manky.

The curd and crusting on these pies tasted like nothing? It was a strange experience that I’ve never had before. Overly sweet and strange consistency base and nothing filling. Who knows what the Marcos on these things where. 2/10

Vanilla Slice - all I can really say is “meh”. Again tasted like nothing and had no idea what the Marcos are.

This was a really strange experience for me. My personal opinion is that a lot of work is needed around the food and it’s standards before it should be consumed by the public. I’ve tried quite a few keto cafes now and unfortunately this one needs a lot of work to be worth the price.

After asking around about the cafe to friends as I was trying to work out what was going on there. - I was greeted by really poor personal reviews of this place and stories of mistreatment to staff (ie: apparent very high staff turn over). I can’t say I saw any of this - but the food issues I can attest too.

I have not tried anything else from there again yet. If I try and things improve I’ll happily improve my rating/review

What can I say, this cafe has saved my life. I have been excited for this gluten free, no sugar, low carb, and wholesome food cafe to open since I first heard of Gillian's intention.
Her meals are so tasty, they get me through seeding and harvest at work when i just don't have time to shop or cook, and being a coeliac, I know I can be 100% safe to eat anything that comes out of her kitchen.
Her pastry is next level! I love her pies, sausage rolls and tarts. And her cheesecakes, lordy lordy I go to heaven! Her vanilla slices and choc eclairs are just like I remember them as a kid. (I was diagnosed with coeliac 16years ago, but have had to restrict lots of food since I was 12) Therefore have eaten many firsts in this cafe.
I go to heaven when I walk into JPK
Thankyou so much Gillian.

Love this place. Food is delicious and staff are lovely. My one suggestion would be that a full macro list for each product be available. Highly recommend!
