The service was excellent - we felt welcomed and well tended to. The atmosphere gave off a pleasant feeling. The food tasted fresh and good quality. The only con for us was the cost was expensive considering the serving and food. 5 small octopus (takoyaki) balls were $10. A SMALL miso soup was $5. A Karaage bento (miso, 1 veggie and 1 tempura sushi, salad, small serving of chicken, large serving of rice) was nearly $30. I guess you could say the quality is worth the cost, but we've had similar quality for lower price elsewhere (and recent as well). Overall, a good night out, just going to return when we want to splurge.

The restaurant is nicely spaced and cleaned. Service was good and the staff is friendly and welcoming. The food was OK but for the price and food portion, I would expect more. We ordered a large sashimi (12 pieces), tempura udon, unagi don and an agedashi tofu, it was close to $100. I know business is doing it tough considering the price hype now in 2023. But I would urge the restaurant to consider the balance between price, portion and taste.

Went as a family for adult birthday. Adult having said birthday is extremely fussy with food. Like clean and tasty food with variation of textures. This restaurant was perfect. We had to ask for soy sauce which we found unusual at a Japanese restaurant. We normally find Japanese restaurants have condiments readily available.
It didn't matter though they gave us what we needed.

An awesome place to eat. It was very busy which is a good sign. Food was delicious, service was great and reasonably priced. I'll be back for sure.

The flavours, presentation and freshness of the menu was sublime. A great ambiance alongside very welcoming service from the staff and owner on top means I will definitely be back!

Is this place under new management?

Sucks to write this review - Ishikiya in the past has been quality Japanese food. But standards seem to have slid considerably.

$21 for packet frozen tempura prawns you could get from a dodgy shopping centre Japanese kiosk…what the…

Standards on the whole meal pretty bad, not the ishikiya of the past.

Prep for Ubereats painfully slow…constant delays. $120 I wish I’d spent elsewhere.

Frustratingly slow service. Our food sat for over 30 minutes before being served cold. Disappointing as the food looked like it would have been amazing had it been brought straight to the table instead of being left to sit.

Wonderful hosts, dealt very well with our table of 14, most food came out very quick especially the kids meals which was a blessing! Delicious during and gyoza, giant crumb prawn and the Bento boxes were delicious. Food was a hit all around the table. Lovely atmosphere, the aircon was a bit chilly but other than that no faults.

Paid $30 for a bento box. Food was bland as cardboard and sauces just tasted gross much better japanese restraints elsewhere. I'd rather get a whopper than eat at this place again

Authentic Japanese restaurant with above average food quality and decent sized portion. We hope to come back and try other ala carte and side dishes besides the bowl and bentos we had today.

Katsu chicken Bento box very overpriced for the portion you receive.
$50 for 2 serves and $18 for a side of gyoza.
Will be going across the road to Katsu Midland, far better quality and price.

I have been coming here for many years and the food and service is great.

Their Katsu chicken is unmatched in the area.

They do take a big longer to cook but is worth the wait.

I have introduced this place to many of my friends and they’ve also become regulars.

Always delicious, generous servings, friendly staff, a nice environment, and very affordable!

Lovely restaurant, waiting times and table service is average but the price and quality of the food is great.

This is one of my & my daughter's favorite restaurants the food is always prepared fresh and the service is amazing, staff are friendly efficient & punctual freshest Sashimi & Sushi everything is impeccable highly recommend this restaurant

Absolutely love the food here the Aburi Roll is so good but so is all the other food. Jie is such a great host.

Biggest ripoff I have ever encountered!

Perfectly content with everything. Service was excellent, food was delicious and they explained any questions about the food and types of Sake. Bathrooms were very clean. Ishikiya Japanese Restaurant would not be out of place on a main street in the city or Mt Lawley. Have been numerous times, will be returning. Had the Mixed Sashimi yum. How good is Miso and Japanese alcohol!

Absolutely Superb! Best restaurant in Midland. Friendly, Efficient and Professional service. The meals were fabulous. HIGHLY RECOMMEND ️

Good customer service.
The food came out quickly.
Would prefer to have the portion of the bento to be bigger. We ordered the unagi and chicken katsu bento but portion is quite small for the unagi and the chicken.
