Posting on a throwaway account because of enquiry in place but we booked through Wotif and upon check-in, Indian Ocean staff took payment but then we were told our "deal" expired & hotel was fully booked but instead Of giving us our refund we were relocated to Inner City Apartments which had no ocean views, not the same facilities, poor conditions and the hotel wasn't inviting in a completely different location. The reviews on the apartments were horrible aswell. Not acceptable!

Our mate accidentally kicked over a sign. We picked it up, and we did not get allowed entry and wasted $10 on entry to our mates gig. No allowance from the security, our mate took full responsibility for it. Very rude and arrogant security, would not recommend. Took a photo without our permission and didn’t delete it after we asked so. Unfair treatment, would not recommend.

This place is a hidden gem, so clean and great staff who want to help, anyone who says its 'dated ' doesn't get it! It's got the coolest 50's vibe so wonderfully retro, the pool and bar area are the highlight

Located close to the centre of Scarborough and to Scarborough Beach this old hotel is clean and well looked after. The staff are great.

It offers free WiFi, in house movies and parking. Close to cafes, restaurants and bars

Addition of Toastface Grill is an awesome move.
Chips and other sides are nice though, I'm the type of guy who is happy with a drink in one hand and a toastie in the other while watching the footy over lunch out.

We picked up the CheeseSteak (perfect for cold mornings and late nights) and a LambDona (perfect for everyday anyday)

Very nice staff! Old and run down! No storage in rooms! Only 1 bedside table! Left after 2 nights. Very noisy pool area until late at night!

The food is good, I had steak and chips and it was cooked exactly how I asked. Variety of bevvies on tap, for cheap. They have 2x pool tables, a swimming pool and a spa. They hold pool parties regularly and often provide party goers with snacks like iceypoles and watermelon. The pool is often full of inflatable lollypops and doughnuts:)

Room was clean and today. Based good size and comfortable. Staff friendly. Did not think the price reflected the age of the building and rooms. Would not stay again for $160 booked direct.

The food is expensive for what it is, limited choice, when there is live music it is far too loud and overtakes the whole pub. Not overly friendly bar staff and queue to get drinks far too long as they need more bar staff.

A pretty decent hotel to stay in for a day or 2. Room comes with simple breakfast. Parking is free and safe. The location is very ideal close to Scarborough beach and Coles and other retail supermarkets.

The last bastion of a Authentic place to go out. Have a drink listen to live live music and a place where you can just be yourself. No one cares what you are wearing or your social status. Great new management. I give it 4.5 bananas out of 5 bananas.

Datura4 was really fantastic but the atmosphere is dingy. The door staff could be friendlier but the bar staff are good and quick. Overall would not return, sorry.

They couldn't make my cocktail - ran out of ingredients. They didn't listen to my request for no ice. Asked for the steak sandwich on a plate with no bread as I told them I am gluten intolerant & they gave me battered onions rings with it, really guys?

Kids & smokers everywhere outside around the pool where we were booked in.
It would be nice around the pool on a barmy night without the smokers.

Inside it was dark, gloomy & dirty feeling.

The food was nice & staff were pleasant.

Mixed feelings. Nice location, balcony, microwave, reasonable size of the room, BUT.v. Old furniture, every morning v.noisy rubbish collection outside, also noisy when toilet in use in next room and last but not least: no visitors allowed in the room + AUD 100 deposit against no alcohol brought to your room (!). So not even a beer bought outside the hotel to drink on the balcony, or they can keep your deposit! And yes, they do check the fridge in your room!

Really cool venue, under new management so it's a lot better than it used to be. Good place to see bands and chill out outside. Beer and wine list could be tweaked.but overall it's good.
