Hotel Kununurra

The Thirsty Camel Kununurra is a decent bottle shop with a good selection of beverages. However, be aware that it has misleading opening hours: it is only open from midday to 6pm, Monday through Saturday, and is closed on Sundays. This can be frustrating for unsuspecting visitors, as the hotel it is located in is open seven days a week. Despite this, we would still recommend the Thirsty Camel for those seeking a bottle shop in Kununurra. If you’re travelling on the Gibb it will be the last one you’ll see for 1000’s of kilometres. Just be sure to check the opening hours before you go to avoid disappointment.

Stayed for 2 nites in a small room with a king single, room was fine for what I paid and had aircon, tv and a fridge.
Had a meal in the bistro one nite too and it was very good.
Good size beer garden to enjoy a drink and very good Thirsty Camel Bottleshop to the side too.

I called and confirmed my booking. The young girl who took my call was very professional and polite. I was panicking that I would not make it before closing time, but she reassured me that it will be fine and explained how to access the key to my room in case I am late.
Bonus, was free breakfast.

Dropped in for a beer and lunch. Pints $12.00 each for Great Northern Mid. Had the Caesar salad for lunch which was fresh but the egg was hard boiled and lacked dressing. Consensus was 3 stars.

Rooms very basic and need updating but were clean. Very noisy with people talking outside our window until 2.00am. Bright security light facing our window without an adequate blind meant our room lit up all night. Breakfast was a complete rip off. At 7.30 there was 2 pieces of cheese, one piece of ham, 3 tubs of yogurt and no fruit left. None of this was replenished while we were there. Cereal was a choice of Coco pops and Cornflakes. Although a coffee machine is there, nobody was available to make coffee. Urn provided for instant coffee and tea. No option of cooked breakfast was offered. We ended up with a piece of toast and a glass of juice each as the continental breakfast we had paid for.
The secure parking was great.

It's poor because after a 7 hour drive I was really hoping for a great sleep but no a DJ started the room vibrating put a stop to sleep.
Went to complain to be told fully booked put up with the noise. So house guests come a poor second.
Never stay here it's really bad.

Terrible night, loud music, loud patrons. Obviously the hangout for the locals. Don't stay here if you want a nights sleep.

Value for money. Considering it's in a away small town, it was priced nicely with free continental breakfast. AC kinda stop doing it's thing but it was still throwing good cold air so no complain about it. Wifi range needs to improve alot. Doesn't get any wifi in the room.

This is a great place to stay while in Kununurra. Priced right, with a pool, good kitchen good, and a nice cold drink at the end of the day. Rooms were of a good standard for with air-conditioning that worked. The staff were very helpful from picking at the airport to have a chat with about the place. A lots of history within the pub as well. I would highly recommend toys is the place to stay while travelling in the Kimberly's.

Built-in pub and restaurant was great! Staff was awesome! Biggest downside was the other guests parting till daybreak.

Don’t know if we just had some really bad luck tonight or if this place is just poor form -
1. Ordered a 50 lashes on tap, but got an Emu or something just as cheap
2. Ordered gravy on schnitzel but got mushroom sauce (hate mushrooms)
3. Paid 35 bucks for the barramundi which was the size of a credit card. Good serve of chips though.
4. Buzzer didn’t go off so food was left sitting in bayonet until we went to investigate.

Probably won’t go back.

Great pub food was delicious. Bit annoyed that I had ordered a couple rounds and then found out they had what I was drinking on tap, but hadn't told me so.

No ammentaties, no wifi even though has smart tv in room, noisy fan and chain door lock broken kids kept walking out of the room unsupervised.

Ok so after a day of site seeing around Kununurra I thought a pub meal might be nice. Off to “the pub” as it’s advertised for a feed and a beer. So go to order food in the bistro and told need to order at the main bar. So ok headed into the bar and ordered food and beer. Go to sit outside and the smell of cigarette smoke was so overwhelming “and I used to smoke so can handle it normally” that I couldn’t sit outside and went back into the bistro area and sat just outside the kitchen area. The music and conversation coming from the kitchen kind of warned me of the meal to come. I ordered scotch fillet medium rare with chips and salad. What arrived was a over well done chewy terrible steak with a massive pile of chips and what I would describe as a garnish not a salad, an 1/8 of a tomato, some mushy grated carrot and a few spinach leaves. Well because I was so hungry I thought I’ll just eat it but after a 1/4 of the steak I just felt and decided to say something to the waitress as she walked past. She was totally understanding and cool and said she would get her manager, whom I believe was the bar manager. He came out to the bistro to see me and well what a rude little so and so he was, attitude was terrible. When I was talking to him politely about my experience his response was “what do you want me to do about it” I did receive a refund but my partner didn’t eat her calamari as she’d been put off by the fact that while we were waiting for the manager I was watching the kitchen staff serving food to the plate with bare hands. I know it’s the middle of nowhere but it’s no excuse. Let down big time as I’ve just moved to town and “the pub” was going to be my local. My recommendation is if you want a good meal head to the Chinese restaurant, a little expensive but delicious food and quick service.

Pub has no beer on tap and it's $10 for a can over the counter. Hopefully they can sort out the issue, I think it's been going on a while

Pretty average rump, bit on the tough/gristly side for a med-rare cook.
Girl on the bar was very friendly, attentive and had some good drive about her.
Nice to get some time in the a/c for a bit, but also has a great beer garden

No tap beer, (I believe system was broken) food was a below average, for the price.

I'll try it again at a later date.

Didn't stay here but used restaurant several times. Typical pub Food, not bad but nothing special.

Called in for lunch walk straight back out, got abused because i walk in the hotel through the motel entry 5 minutes before 12. NO sorry we are not opened yet.
