Hokkaido Ramen and Dumplings reviews
42After having take-away a number of times from this great little Japanese restaurant we decided to book a table for 6 and dine-in. It did not dissapoint! Really good, authentic Japanese food in a cosy cafe style setting. The Okonomiyaki was great! We will be ack for sure!
Devastated they got rid of they chicken ramen, it was amazing.would love to know if it’s coming back
Nice ramen and dumplings. I love the pork bone soup and the classic homemade black garlic.
Great food, absolutely love it. Usually order through Uber Eats but came in today and the staff are lovely!
I order normally through ubereats, but and their gyoza's, spring rolls, or ramen, and their bao buns. Food mwah, is chef's kiss.
Me and my partner were both craving dumplings and we both saw this place online and decided to try it out. Interior is small but cozy, with nice music playing to enjoy while you eat.
We got the pork and chicken gyoza, as well as the chashu ramen.both of these were delicious, honestly being some of the best we have ever tried.
On top of amazing food, the service their is impeccable, and is one of the many reasons as to why i will definitely come back.
Highly recommend for anyone to try if you are a ramen or dumpling lover, this place will not disappoint
Got dinner from here the other night and it was great. The staff were beyond kind and helpful, even walking the food out to my car because it came out earlier than expected. The food was really flavourful and delicious. 10/10 recommend.
My family and I’s first time trying ramen for dinner tonight and you guys did not disappoint! It was so flavourful and just delicious to eat, we will 100% be back soon
I am torn on this one but let's start with positives.
The staff is absolutely lovely, attentive and polite.
The place itself is rather small yet cozy, I enjoyed the atmosphere.
Let's talk food.
The food was ok but it could be something more.
The fried rice need more fresh veggies- not frozen veggies from store bought pack. Just a bit of a fresh carrot (which is not expensive) would make a difference in my opinion. Maybe some mushrooms or fresh broccoli. Same with prawn tempura which (correct me if I'm wrong) was not battered in the restaurant but also store bought frozen product, and bit more on the greasier side.
I feel like Japanese cuisine prides itself in making fresh, simple but well balanced dishes.
I'd rather pay more for better ingredients and more effort. This could be a little gem of Kinross.
I will try your ramen next.:)
Nice compact little shop, very friendly service. Could do with a little clean though, table was a bit greasy. For a ramen shop, theirs is rather average. Soft pork bone ramen is exactly what it is. Just noodles in a bone broth. It is lacking the most ingredient in any japanese ramen: umami. Egg is like a braised chinese egg. The noodles is really good though, good texture and chewiness. I think this shop make really good and tasty gyozas however. I haven't tried any other menu but one thing for sure, you need to add umami into your ramen! Will come back again for more gyozas though.
Very tasty, affordable and fresh.
New discovery to add to the faves list!
Will order again.
I rarely leave reviews for restaurants. However, on this occasion I have to. We just finished up 1 x prawn goyza and 2 x charsu ramen and wow! It was super tasty! We ordered off Uber eats and the presentation was beautiful. Very satisfied after trying this place for the first time.
Very relaxed atmosphere and the decor and style of service reminded me of small eateries in villages when I was in Japan. We were served politely and weren't hassled about the food being ok, if i want a drink, if i want to upgrade etc like a lot of places do. I like to be left alone for my dining experience and this cozy small dumpling store had a great vibe. We ordered chicken and pork gyoza. They were definitely hand made on premises. The dough was the perfect thickness and right amount of crunch. Lovely flavours through the meat. Simple and delicious.
Ordered many times now and always delicious. Ramen, chicken katsu, gyoza, takoyaki balls all very yummy. Big portions too. Highly recommend!
Standard miso special chasu ramen
Pork gyoza
Great chashu, special had all the best toppings, gyoza tasted great though not overly crispy. Will be back:)
It was our first time trying this place out as my partner and I are ramen fanatics and we’re always trying to find spots close to us, that make good ramen. We were in good spirits for this as it had a 4.2 star rating so we went and had a go to see for ourselves. Upon arriving to the restaurant, it didn’t feel very inviting. We walked in and we were ready to order straight away but we weren’t greeted or spoken to even though they saw us through the small service window, but even then they didn’t speak to us until they were ready to take our order, which was 5 minutes after entering. The store is very small, which is no problem at all but the problem that we both had was the fact that it is quite run down. The roof is falling apart, the floor was very sticky and you could tell it hadn’t been mopped in a while because you can see shoe marks on the floor and it was definitely not very busy at all, the tables were dirty and you could tell that they hadn’t been cleaned in at least a day because it had dried up on the table. There was only two ladies in the kitchen and the service was quite appalling. The food really wasn’t any better. First off I could hear microwaves being used, obviously heating food up. Noodles definitely weren’t fresh, the texture felt like they had been cooked a few days prior and were all stuck together and to the bottom of the bowl, even AFTER putting the broth into the bowl and the noodles should become soft and pull apart very easily at this point. The meat was tender but it was definitely dry and very heavily fatty and there was no flavour to the ramen at all. We have had authentic Japanese ramen and we both know that you won’t always find the best ramen every single time but this was just very disappointing for us both. The only thing that we ordered that we thought tasted the best was the pork dumplings, even though they were very greasy. When they had finished cooking the food, they placed it on a table at the front of the store and walked back to the kitchen straight away, instead of handing it to us as a good measure of good customer service. If more care for the store in general was taken, few more staff were hired and the food was reviewed daily and thought about with care, this restaurant could thrive. If you can help it? In my opinion, I would not go here and I wouldn’t spend an obnoxious amount of money on ramen that is not very good quality. We definitely won’t be back.
Absolutely amazing King Prawn gyoza! While the food is honestly excellent, the service is what makes this restaurant 5 stars. The man behind the counter is truly proud of the food that he and his staff are putting forward, and that comes through in both the atmosphere and the dishes. An amazing local find!
Best home made dumpling
Make another 45mins trip again, yet it’s all worthwhile, wife is happy!
Delicious japanese conveniently located by home! The omurice was yummy and very filling. The service was great and we were well attended to. Would come back again for sure!
Our favourite local restaurant! Such a surprise to find this tiny gem hidden in suburban Kinross as it is the same quality as you would find along the Vic Park cafe strip. I have tried the special charsu and soft bone ramen and both are delicious. The dumplings are also all good, especially the black truffle ones. Last night I tried the spicy chicken with cheese and that is the best yet! Saucy chicken with stretchy melted cheese on top! Make sure you order rice. The prices are reasonable and the owner David is attentive, dine in and you will be treated like old friends.
