Grand Cinemas reviews
55Went to reading cinema Armadale to escape the heatwave with some friends and our kids. We got half way through the movie and were dripping with sweat. Apon asking a staff member to check if the air-conditioning was working we were told it wasn't and someone was currently looking at it. I don't know why we weren't told before paying and entering the cinema, as we had 3 x 3 year old's, a 9 month old and a 4 month old that really struggled to sit through the movie, we should have been given the option to come back on another day when the air conditioning was working.
Went to watch elemental today with my 4 year old for the first time. Brooklyn the girl working was absolutely rude. She looked like she was having a miserable time and treated us with no respect. If she wants to work in customer service she should at least learn how to obtain some basic people’s skills.
The air-conditioned was not working. The cinema was not cleaned at all and also smelled mouldy.
Rude customer service. They weren’t open at their time of opening and when we went inside the movie was already on. They let us refund our tickets but not the food we ordered (expensive) that we only bought because we were going to the movies. Don’t come here if you have somewhere else to go because they have terrible social skills and are generally rude.
Arrived at 10.50am for 11.15am movie. Waited outside with a long queue of people for about 30min for them to open the doors and start selling tickets at 11.30am. We paid for out movie tickets/popcorn/frozen coke $27 at about 11.35am and walked into the theatre with the movie having already started 15-20min ago presumably at 11.15am. There was only 2 other people in the theatre so we walked back to the ticket desk to let them know. Staff were still selling tickets but said they working on trying to restart the movie. Waited another 10min in the theatre while the movie played but not wanting to watch.until I eventually went back to the ticket desk where they said that they were unable to restart the movie! By this time it was nearly midday so we disappointedly decided to refund our tickets. Having wasted an hour of our time, and spoiled the movie we were looking forward to seeing, I asked if we could also have a free ticket to watch at a later time as a good will gesture.the duty manager said no.so I asked for a refund on the untouched popcorn (which cost the same about as the ticket, and we only wanted it to watch the movie, as you do) but this was flatly refused also and he had no interest at all in reaching any resolution. Appalling customer service!
Stood in line for 35 minutes and bought food and drinks, they let us all in and the movie was already halfway through before start time. They agreed to refund everyone’s tickets but everyone was now stuck with food and drinks and no movie to watch. I’d avoid the staff are absolutely clueless and unprofessional.
Only 1 line for both ticket and food purchases. Waited in line for 20 minutes, and by the time we got to the front of the line, we were advised the movie was 10 minutes in.
You couldn't even pre-purchase the tickets to skip the line as there was nobody manning the entry way!
You also have to pick your seats at the counter which doesn't help with the wait time.
Wasn't open on time (30min late) stood in line way to long to find out movie was dropped off. I won't be coming here again
Stood in line for 20 minutes because the whole setup and staff are incredibly slow making us 10 minutes late when we would have been through in 5 minutes with the old proprietor
Cheap tickets because this cinema is the worst in Perth and the Grand Cinema family. The toilets are right at the front entrance so you have to walk miles back to them if you need the bathroom during the moving. The staff are vague, the venue is tired and the bathrooms are gross. It also has no real food or alcohol available like other cinemas do. Time to knock it down and start again.
Took grandsons for birthday treat but found it extremely expensive especially since other cinemas cost half the price. I couldn't believe I had to pay adult prices for the boys 2 were under 8 and my greatgrandson just turned 3 but apparently adult prices are from 3yrs and up.: (At least my grandsons enjoyed the movie.
We like Grand Cinema's Armadale but lobby reeks of urin! The actual toilets themselves made me heave. Cinima 1 has a rank odour in it too. Grand Cinemas this needs fixing fast.
We'd bought tickets online but decided that we wanted sweets. Got told that we should go to the back of the ticket queue in order to buy sweets. Decided we didn't want sweets that much (cannot understand why you can't queue separately).
We then tried to work out which screen we were in; nobody around and no signs on the doors. Eventually I went to ask at the counter only to be told that the screen was on the email confirmation and not on the ticket itself.
I think I'll travel a bit further and go to Hoyts next time.
Very outdated cinema. Needs some renovations. Tickets are expensive. You can go to Hoyts for cheaper tickets at $16 with reclining chairs compared to $22 with old stained chairs.
The cinema itself is quite good. I'm sure it would be ok to watch other movies there but Godzilla and Kong was insanely loud. Not just very loud but insanely loud. You would not be allowed to work in noise like that without 2 layers of hearing protection. I bet some of the younger kids came out with hearing damage. My son and I watched most of the movie with our fingers in our ears.
Whilst the tickets are cheap, the variety of movies is always a bit scarce and the cinemas themselves are musty and rundown, seats need a good clean.

Attended last night to watch Godzilla vs Kong (cinema 2), the picture and sound quality was great, seat selection was good but the prices are steep (to be expected) food is limited but of course snacks only.the seats are tattered and torn, they stunk of body odor and old spilt food n drink, we had to move 3 times to find seats that didnt reek. That was the spoiler of the night.
Convenient 4 me. Down the road from my mother in-law. So we quite often take her 2 see a movie.
Great to have a Cinema in Armadale, it has however begun a bit grotty. Some of the staff aren't very friendly either. But the movies are great!
