Golden Gate Chinese Restaurant

The gold fish tank there, the water is green and I didn’t even realise there were actual goldfish in there! No filters or lights for them either, please take care of the fishies.

The meals were OK, it is not bad. Although we had better and more tastier Chinese nearby.
The crab fingers fritters were a disappointment. We expected actual crab meat, turns out, it is the fake seafood sticks battered and fried. Their combination omelette was very tasty.
Overall, it was not a bad experience. When you are super busy and just want a quick meal and don't want to wash dishes after a busy day at work, and don't want to drive too far, then go to this place.

I had been to this restaurant two or three times prior to this final vist, and had pretty much settled on it being my forever chinese restaurant, until one night I ordered enough food for dinner and lunch the next day. I deliberately left enough food on the plate to take away. I asked the waitress to package up the remaining food. I get to work the next day, and all I have to eat is rice and sauce! Plenty of steamed rice, BUT THEY KEPT THE MEAT!? Don't know if they ate it, sold it to another customer, or binned it out of spite. They can't deny it, it was my intention to have leftovers before I slid their rickety front door open. Definitely didn't hate the food (but it's not great).

Always love their meals; so far the best chicken chow mein in Perth. Friendly staff and service. The only Chinese Resto that give you warm plates. Anyhow the interior need to be update.

After seeing some not so good reviews, I needed to say how happy my friend and myself were very happy with our food and will definitely return and recommend to our family and friends

Hi. We came in at 6 pm today and ordered three meals. Chef’s Specials. Two of them, the plum pork and the pepper fillet steak were very disappointing. They were basically chopped onion and just a few pieces of meat in each plus some sauce. The honey king prawns were fine. We have been coming to this restaurant for many years and have never been so disappointed with the food, especially as we had my parent over, so embarrassed. I doubt we will be back and will tell our friends and neighbours about how low your standards have dropped.

I don't leave reviews often, but the food here is awful.
We bought a "veggie fried rice", dumplings and "veggie chow mein". Never tried something this disgusting before. The noodles were in a slimy white sauce, I even tried to add soy sauce to give them a taste but were beyond solution.
Honestly, I'm trying to advise people to avoid wasting your money here.

Recommended by my son. What Chinese fried rice doesn’t have seasoning in it? Theirs! Won’t be back?

Great customer service, large portions, delicious food, reasonably priced, definitely recommend.

Haven't been back for years, good to see it's improved. Food was very nice, good portions for price and came out quick.

After being loyal customers for many years, Rather than allow us to sit at a bigger table as we were only 4 people and you had to have a party of 5 (the restaurant only had people sitting at 2 tables) the waitress after a discussion preferred us to leave their establishment to go across the road to Lee’s Palace which we did and the food there was absolutely delicious - don’t think we will ever return to The Golden Gate

Had dinner there, ordered 2 main course honey chicken and satay noodles plus a small fried rice. The portion was huge for the money. Even had to take some home.
Had before some take away which was great as well.
Also during dinner time A lot take away orders where picked up

Not to bad. Close to home and you can pick up after a couple beers.

We bought some food ($90) from this place after a long time we stopped buying here.
And we still think about the food, it's s bad bad flavour, really unseasoned.expensive for average food. We ask for wonton soup, salt and pepper squid, sizzling pork, fried rice, sweet sour chicken and prawn cracker. Terrible test.
Better close this place or change the chef. One star is too much for that food.

We waited half an hour and when we got our food. It was disgusting it didn't even smell right I wouldn't even feed it to my dogs Highly not recommend!

Vert slow had to wait over 40 mins. Was not told there would be a delay or why. Staff not friendly seemed short of staff. I understand that things happen but i would have nice for someone to say sorry for the delay no communication. I think that they could do better. I may give them another chance?

Worst Chinese I've ever had expensive and terrible customer service.

We got tea for Mother's Day Dinner, and the food was terrible after going there for years I would never buy food from here again.

Generally good food at reasonable prices. This Chinese restaurant seems to have undergone a number of ownership changes. The current menu is delectable best it has ever been.

Always a winner for our family for some years now. Great for big groups. Recommend the honey prawns.
