Gnaala Mia Campground reviews
33I'm not telling anyone how beautiful & peaceful this place is as I don't want it to become crowded.
Great place plenty of wildlife at night. All camping spots well placed. Clean drop toilets and camp kitchen with 2 gas barbecues. Each campsite has a bench and fire pit. Bring your own fire wood.
Great camp. Clean drop toilets and camp kitchen with BBQs and tables. No power/water. Byo firewood. Take your rubbish with you please.
Quiet, good distance between sites, some van bays are smallish. Excellent chill spot for a few days. Not expensive at all. Some 27 van sites plus some tent sites scattered across two loops. Good camp hosts in attendance.
As always Gnaala Mia produced a very enlightens experience. We will be back, so peaceful and relaxing.
The wild life after dark are very amusing
Great camping spot, well laid out and maintained. Camp kitchen and drop toilets are spotless, plenty to do in the area. $11 per night - each adult.
Spent quite a few nights here. Quiet, on my own some nights due to winter which was nice, other campers were friendly and quiet.
Nice 3km loop right there. Other longer walks not a far drive, but for 2wd like me you just have to go really slow a lot.
Please don't take wood from surrounding forest, it's specifically there for the birds and other wild life, some has been strategically placed. Ask the Rangers if they've cut some you can grab (Kawana Rd off Tomingly recently had cut pine) or bring your own ($10 bags in Boddington)
Sheltered bbq area on
both loops, lights up till 8pm. Sensor light outside and inside toilets all night. Phone reception works at times with Telstra.
Respect this lovely spot so everyone can enjoy it. Cheers ️
A beautiful place in the forest, woylies, possums, echidna and Quenda all visit around the camp.
Drop toilets are clean, rangers brought wood for the firepits.
The tour of Barna Mia was well worth it. Bilbys and other nocturnal marsupials.
The sites are large and well spaced. Mainly flat and easy to manoeuvre into.
This was our third trip.
What a lovely campground! Oh so quiet and so beautiful. Plenty of sites as well.
We had many wildlife spottings with lots of friendly woylie's bouncing around our site in the evening, plus a possum visit too.
There are so many trails around to take you on hours of adventures. I saw a numbat on a random trail walk I did.: D Saw a few echidnas too!
In dotpoint.
- Lovely campsites that are well spaced and each one has a bench and firepit.
- BYO firewood but there was a small amount we were allowed to use.
- The toilets are new and well kept and have a hand sanitiser pump outside which is very considerate:)
- The undercover BBQ area is also new with benches, clean BBQ's and a tap on the corner for some rain water.
- There are no bins, so come prepared to collect and take your own rubbish.
- $11/adult
- $3/child
We were here on the Easter weekend and the camp hosts checked in with us, collected our money and cleaned and re stocked the loos with paper.
Definitely coming back!
Loved the quiet, the nature, the facilities.
Great campsite! Very level camping spots for tents and caravans. Bring a mallet because the ground is hard. Tents and caravans are on opposite sides of each of two loops. Pretty spacious between sites, it doesn't feel crowded. Not really any freshwater on site but there is a communal BBQ area and two bush toilets (no water, just long drop-style) with hand sanitizer At night, woylies bound about and at dawn lots of birds calling. We also saw an echidna among the camp sites and another one on the way out of the park so drive slowly in and out. Bring plenty of water there are not many options for supplies. Driving about 20-30 minutes for more water and food can be avoided if you plan.
We have visited Dryandra and the Gnaala Mia campground in winter and autumn and loved it both times. The sites are a good distance from each other in the open woodland forest and it has always been less than half full, so it is like having the place to yourself. The only visitors are the local wildlife, which come right up into camp, including echidnas, little marsupials, and wrens. The facilities are basic, with just the toilets and camp kitchens, but they are modern and well maintained.
One of my favorite campsites in the wheatbelt! Quiet and clean, with flat sites, drop toilets and excellent spotlighting for mammals at night! Look out for woylie and western quoll (Chuditch). The walking trail that encircles the campsite is a perfect morning hike.
This is my second stay at Gnaala Mia and I've enjoyed it as much as the first. The Dryandra Woodlands have a unique beauty that if not cared for may be lost to future generations. If you're going camping to party and be loud, perhaps not here. The peaceful native bush and the wildlife are the attractions here. Sitting quietly will reward you with a surprising array of birds and native animals. There are a number of well marked walking tracks. The camp sites are reasonably well spaced, there are long-drop toilets and camp kitchen which are well maintained and kept clean by the volunteers. Otherwise it's a BYO everything. The fees are reasonable. Take a look at the dpaw website before you visit.
Gnaala Mia campsite is quite and peaceful. We did go in the middle of the week. Lots of walks in the area. Well looked after, would go again.
The campgrounds were great, each with own table, benches and fire pits. Different size sites to accommodate different vehicles and long drop toilets which were kept clean. The camp kitchen was large enough, with two BBQ's, to accommodate a group and the sites were spaced enough to give everyone some privacy. The sound of so many birds was wonderful to wake up and there was lots to see on the many walking trails. Definitely recommend. Note: No power or water and there are signs warning of baits.
A fabulous place. A great place for a quiet getaway but with plenty to do if you wish. Will definately go again.
Fantastic natural bushland setting. Camp has toilets, bays and camp kitchen. Camp hosts there are friendly. Need to bring water. So relaxing
A very nice nature campsite with lots of wildlife. Unpowered site (s) with long drop toilet, gas powered BBQs and with plenty to see and explore in the surrounding areas of the woodland.
Definitely recommend booking a night tour at the Barna Mia Nocturnal Experience in the warmer periods of the year.
Gnaala Mia is a fabulous little spot if you want to get away and enjoy nature. Dryandra is a unique place and the simple facilities at the campgrounds are more than adequate for a few nights stay. We like the cooler months to have a fire, and the sites cater for vans, tents and motor homes. There is a camp kitchen and drop toilets. No showers. The area has many bush walks and is a short journey from Barna Mia Nocturnal Sanctuary. Make sure you book. The whole region is intersected with gravel roads to wander along looking for the wildlife. Close to Gnaarla Mia is the Congelin Campground Which offers large open areas for big family camping but does not have access to phone signal there like Gnaarla Mia does.
Very well maintained campground. Lots of space between campgrounds and a lot of animals in the area. Will definitely come back!
