Fiona Stanley Hospital - Emergency Department reviews
63 We received excellent care here; everyone was kind and professional.
Thank you FSH Emergency Department!
We have been waiting for 7 hours and are still here.so disorganised and there is no communication except excuses.
I’ve not long arrived from the UK, and had an issue with my knee before I left.
I finally decided it was time to get it looked as it was extremely painful.
I arrived at FSE at 0800 on a monday, no one there.
I was seen within 10 mins, in a waiting room in 15, seen by a nurse in 20. Told consultant would be along soon.
Well after an
X-ray
Ultra sound
Anaesthetic injection
Injection for fluid sample, was then sent to pathology, I was then put on short stay ward, given a drink & sandwich. Was out by 1400 hrs with a prescription for antibiotics.
I THINK THE STAFF & HOSPITAL SHOULD BE IMMENSELY PROUD AS THEY WERE AMAZING.
Nice staff and very friendly but waiting 5hours at the emergency for a hole on my son's head is too much.
Don't listen to reception triage who tell you to go private next door, her words "I would, as it's free since you're insured". It is not. They bill you the moment you walk in there. And it's not recoverable. Even with high private insurance. Wait. And get the same level of care and investigations for free.
Doctors were excellent. Quality of nurses varies from fantastic, to disinterested, to neglectful.
You need to STAY with the person needing to be seen. Until the moment they are safely discharged.
You need to be their advocate and SPEAK up, if you feel they're being discharged too soon.
My daughter is alive because I did.
This review, is from a compilation of visits over the past 3 years.
Lovely staff but I had to wait over 8 hours. Took me 4 hours before I got to leave the waiting room, just to wait another 2.5 hours to be seen by a doctor. Then almost 2 hours to be seen after my x-ray. Ridiculous wait times.
As with most hospitals there are peak times where there are some delays but the design allows reconfiguration and the staff are able to provide focussed care, diagnostics and therapy in a modern tertiary hospital setting.
Can’t thank the nurses, doctors and other staff enough after recently having to go to emergency at night. Waiting time was very short possibly because of what was potentially wrong with me, allowed my wife to be with me the whole time which wasn’t a problem. Very thorough with plenty of tests, staff were so friendly and accommodating. Can understand it can be frustrating especially at night trying to see a nurse or doctor, but maybe negative reviews can be attributed to how you treat the staff who are trying to do their best with what resources they have on hand and how many patients they have to deal with at peak periods.
Embarrassing how long it takes to be seen. 4.5 hours in and no sign of being looked at despite the room being about a quarter full. Hate to see what a busy night would look like here, absolutely farcical.
I just took my 1.5 yrs old to the kids' ER and they all were really helpful and friendly. We were in just 15 min, and they took the situation really seriously and tried their best. A lot better compared to last year which is a massive improvement.
The staff deserves a 2 star but at least they save people they are rude and don't seem to care but the food is much better than other hospitals I've been 2
I have been waiting 12 hours (overnight) for a certificate to say I’m fit for work, not offered a blanket, no food or any service and when asking abt how long I will have to wait I just get an “I don’t know” oh and I’m still waiting
The staff are really nice but emergency wait time is too long if it's not life threatening
Worst hospital system ever. It's been over an hour to get stupid panadol. Pregnant wooman bleeding a lot. 3 hours in waiting room and still waiting.
Been waiting for 3 hours still haven’t got my turn and the receptionist haven’t got any info how long is the wait wouldn’t recommend coming back here
TEN HOURS in Emergency and still waiting on a Monday night. No communication and no suggestion anything is being done. Just the repeated "you'll be seen soon". If the wait is this long say so, don't waste people's time when they're in pain and need help.
Went on 26/05/2022 to the Children Emergency wait time more than two hours
Poor and really slow service.
They might forgot this is emergency and shame and really frustrated about the WA health system.
The worst hospital with over 3 hr waiting in the waiting area and a further 3 hours to be seen by doctor once taken inside. Nurses and docs are very rude and not courteous. This hospital is terrible needs a major overhaul especially in staffing department.
Absolutely disgraceful emergency department wait times for some one with a heart condition waiting over three hours to be seen after struggling to breathe. Being sent to waiting room after waiting room. People sitting around me had been waiting 9 hours including a poor gentleman on dialysis who had a high fever and was shaking do hard his teeth were rattling. Awful awful service
Been in ED for my 8 months old at 2am. Waited for 3 hours but never been attended by any one. Worst medical system. Had to leave because there was no sign of goodness. Wife, baby and me all fatigued and drained. Serious work required have to be done on the medical system, instead of making bridges, Highways or tourist spots.
