Excelsior Deli

Very average customer service, no sense of welcome.
Upon arrival there was no greeting & when I asked for table water she pointed to the area, I had to fill the jug & retrieve the glasses, not what I expected anyway.
We had rang & booked days earlier so they knew we were coming, we seated ourselves, had to ask for menus which again were just pointed at on the counter.
Unfortunately they forgot one our meals & I had to follow this up only to be told that it's because they r busy, they weren't that busy & the rest of the table of 5 had nearby finished, it was obvious. When we eventually received the order they'd forgotten the cutlery! No salt or pepper on tables so I didn't bother as it probably would've only been pointed at aswell. Self bloody service!
I thought the food would make up for the lack of service, the menu looked exciting & presentation but unfortunately was average, bacon was dark, oily & over cooked, eggs tasted pasty & weird.
The hot drinks arrived quickly that was good but the Dirty Chai was definitely an acquired taste, not what was expected.
We all agreed we have all had better, left feeling underwhelmed & unappreciated to b honest.

It should be the best café in the Subiaco area. It offers a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere with no sense of restraint. The staff are all very friendly and enthusiastic. The coffee has a great flavor and always maintains a very stable level, which is excellent. The brunch menu is appealing, with the spicy scrambled egg croissant being particularly special.

Cool spot! Great range on the menu and coffee was solid. Vibe and decor inside was nice, staff were friendly too.

Haven't had much chances for their food, but their coffees are always consistent and great!

Coffee is pretty good but food is average. The bread used to make my toasty was stale. Service is good and staff are friendly.

Update: New Barista and staff have changed over. Coffee is now not great and service is slow.

Coffee is good here but the food was awful. One dish came cold and the other slightly warm. One of the eggs from each dish were watery. Small portion sizes as well.

Beautiful concrete & wood airy indoor space looks mainly authentic rather than faux reproduction, true to the roots of the austere 1970s era building (probs a bank in past life).

Went there especially, drove some distance, last Friday lunchtime, arrived 1.10pm and was told the kitchen was closing and we couldn’t have lunch there.
What’s wrong with some businesses? OK, so you might have run out of salad or garnish but run over the road to the IGA and buy a bag of lettuce.
Dont you want our money and custom?

Not bad. Good range on the menu and coffee was solid. Vibe and decor inside was nice, staff were friendly too.

Today I went to this sweet cafe. I hadn’t eaten yet needed something light. I often find serves too overwhelmingly big, and loaded with tasteless ingredients. I explained to the lovely woman serving, that the quiche looked nice yet was too big.she kindly offered to slice the serve in half, and put half in a take home box.it was perfect.delicious and the small
Salad was tasty, fresh and had a home made dressing.the coffee was excellent and the whole experience was a delightful surprise.many thanks. I will go back next week.thanks

Great coffee.warm service all the time and when the barista call you by your name when you arrive, it's an extra star topped up!

Always top notch! Amazing coffee always perfectly prepared (never burnt or creama damaged) Pricey but you get what you pay for!

The staff usually make me feel like I’m inconveniencing them, by giving them my money and business. They do not welcome you, especially if you have children in tow. The coffee is good and overpriced.

Shocking customer service by the owner- maybe she shouldn't be working with the public if she is so obnoxious! Is life really that bad that you can't even smile!
Today this very unpleasant lady told me 'not to come back 'to her shop because a glass was accidentally dropped on the floor! And twice to 'move my pram' in a very nasty tone, while I was getting organised!
I most definitely will not be back as the little pantry is so much nicer, service with a smile goes a long way.
Anytime I have been @excelsior, (which I'm sad to say has been a lot) the same owner has been extremely rude, lacking basic manners of hello and thank you! ! The young girls that work here are beautiful that is the positive I can write about.
Walk another few hundred meters and enjoy your dining/take away experience at the little pantry! They appreciate everyones custom!
I most definitely won't be back here and I will ensure everyone I know or speak to will hear of this experience!

Coffee was good, had a poached eggs on toast with bacon as a side. It Looked like it came out of a homeless kichen, no offense to the homeless but I payed $21 for something I could knock up at home in 5 mins at home. Spice it up a little excelsior deli!

Great coffee in a pleasant environment with fresh tasty food. Best option in Shenton park. Go for the baguettes and delicious cakes. 'Concrete chic' decor.

Always good coffee and food. Owners and staff are all very pleasant and attentive. Food is a little on the pricey side though.
