Europcar Broome Airport reviews
35Poor poor customer service and poor vehicle's quality. They have sent our customers from Broome to Perth with a car that is mechanically defective. Before our customers left we asked them to change the car due to a few reasons one of them was due to safety reasons. They refuesed to listen to them at all and also to listen to our travel agency staff who kidnly asked to explain the situation and said that this car is the only one allowed to go to Perth. They didn't care about the vehicle's quality or the vechile's maintenance although this rental is very pricy. On the road many issues came up. They contacted the company emergency line who sent a mechanical man to them to fix the problem, then the Europcar said that our customers would have to pay for that service. A few days later (today) new issues are coming up and the travellers have to handle again with the emergency line intead of focusing on their trip to Australia. Overall, I would highly suggest to stay away from this coampny to save your money and time and not to get stuck on the road with a car that is not switching on for an hour as happened to my customers!
We booked Isuzu max, received LDV (chinese low-grade car). The car is a safety hazard, not even on their site.horrible driving experience.europcar refuses to replace.
There ok - hopefully one day less waiting for cars - though all companies are pretty much the same.
Be alert with their business strategy.
Excess of $7500 for any damage. To pay $46 for 5 days to reduce the excess to $250. This info was not available on the website while booking. This is done when you enter broome and go to the counter for picking up your car. Can't be any more ugly start for a holiday. Does car rental companies run without insurance on the streets?
They claimed that I used 21L of fuel in a day to drive 66 km. Although it’s my fault for not fuelling the car up again (in a rush), that’s absolutely ridiculous. Even the dashboard indicated a fuel efficiency of 10.5L/100km.
Absolute scammers.
Edit: Europcar got in touch with me and refunded the difference between what should’ve realistically been charged. Thanks!
Linda from Europcar is a legend she helped us when the head office of Europcar refused to.
Most of the time when you have a problem with a car with Europcar you get sent to an overseas call centre who does nothing to help you and does not understand the problem of being broken down or not having a spare tire for example in remote areas of Australia.
However Linda tried to help us best she could and went above and beyond to provide the best service possible making us stress less and saving the moral of our trip.
Our experience was made 5 star because of the fabulous lady managing all the people and cars at the airport. She really knew her stuff and gave us valuable professional advice whilst also being really friendly. You made our experience so much better. Thank you. Frankie

We used two car hire places whilst on holidays as we did a tour in the middle of our stay in Broome. I could not give Europcar a better rating. They were superior both with their customer service and also the quality of the vehicle we were provided as well. We will use Europcar as our preferred provider in future.
We could not be happier with the help we received from the Europcar Broome staff who were able to organise a rental car for us on our arrival, after our booking (through another company) fell through. They really saved our holiday.
Extremely unprofessional in my opinion and I would never recommend this company ever! For our 5 day car hire $575 and deposit $500 (which was fine) total of $1074.25 was paid on the day of Hire but then another $911.25 was taken 3 days after the car was returned.for car hire and extra fuel used, Instead of just reimbursing the remaining money they took the amount again and then two days later they yet again took another $911.25! Yes the 2 amounts have finally been put back in after 15 days! But in the mean time the company had taken over $2800 from us which was not for them to take! Disgraceful all for a 5 day hire!
They were not helpful at all when questioned about it. Completely unimpressed and will never hire from then again.
I had a quote from a 3rd party for $1000 for a car hire through Europcar for 10 days, however when I arrived to collect the vehicle, they told me that it would cost $1700 + $200 deposit, almost DOUBLE the cost! I was appalled! How can they do that? !?
Called to speak to Europcar in regards to this and was on the phone for 30 mins, back and forth with no solution.
I even had the quote paperwork to show all the car hire details, yet they still could not do anything.
We ended up going with another company, who collected us at the airport and bent over backwards to help us. What a horrible start to our holiday!
Collection service was terrible from an elder white haired lady. Seem to have internal confusion at their depot from quoted prices to what they charge.
Got a free upgrade to a “4x4” although had to pay extra to drive it on unsealed roads. Xtrail wasnt a very capable offroader. Car was basic (no active cruise or anything too fancy) and wasn’t exactly new but was decently cleaned
Highly recommend these guys in Broome as they understand your situation when you are late and are affected by COVID restrictions, and they work with you to make cat hide a good experience
BEWARE - Apparently when you say NO to additional insurance they don’t listen and just add it on the contract anyway. Did not run through the charges on the contract and we got stung an extra $210. Contacted head office who advised it is our word against the staff at the Broome Airport Depot and because we signed the contract nothing can be done. We have never had issues when hiring cars in the past with other companies, first time using Europcar AND WILL BE OUR LAST. Dont get ripped off, use another company.
Had great friendly service from here. Had a free upgrade to a family size 4wd so will definitely be coming back again here. Thanks very much!

We booked a car for three days. When we went to pick up the car this afternoon, the person at the counter said the car had been cancelled as it had been damaged by the previous user, and that I should have received an email. They were curt and unapologetic.
I had indeed received an email that morning. It said "We are sorry to learn that your travel plans have changed and that you had to cancel your car rental reservation. We would like to confirm that your reservation has been successfully cancelled. " We did not cancel our reservation. I mentioned this to the agent, and only then did they then explained that the car had been damaged and was therefore unavailable.
To be clear, the agent cannot be faulted for the damage done to the car and the resultant circumstances. However, the customer service, both online and in person, were unacceptable. I would expect at least an email or phone call explaining the circumstances, as well as a more apologetic tone in person. This is especially considering that there is currently very high demand for hire cars, which could have left us stranded, circumstances of which one would think the agent was well aware.
Couldn’t fault the staff at all from our recent rental with Europcar. They were extremely friendly and helpful. I would recommend to friends and family. Look forward to renting with you again:)
