Erica Underwood House reviews
17Erica underwood house is safe place to live. It has well furnished, clean and very lovely rooms to live. The friendly, and helpful managers are serving the residents including me in great commitment and compasinate aproach.
Cars constantly being broken into and no cameras pretty much to do anything about it, very concerning when people walk around at night.
WORST PLACE EVER!
Erica Underwood House
If I could give half a star I would.
Cons
- no parking (receive fines or have to park 1km away)
- not allowed aircon (no ventilation in apartments)
- constant tiny complaints
- things constantly break (months to fix like shower)
- ant problem they refuse to fix
- they will spend the bare bare minimum, promise to fix things and months later waiting
- high crime with cars constantly being broken into
- 4-6weeks rent to break lease
- no storage
- very expensive rent for what you get (definitely rent private MUCH cheaper)
- only paid washing machines and dryers ($4 a load and only 24min doesn't even wash clothes very well)
Pros
- close to uni
- meet alot of people
DONT LIVE HERE OR SEND YOUR KIDS, YOU WILL REGRET IT!
I've visited this campus three times-twice in the night and once during the day. A lovely campus with huge area and modern infrastructure.
Quite rundown however the price is definitely a huge plus compared to the accommodation at other universities.
The accommodation itself is fine, nothing special, nothing terrible. The RAs and staff are always pleasant and helpful and I have no complaints at all there. The issue is Unilodge itself.
Since taking over management of Curtin's on-campus accommodation at the start of 2019 they have INCREASED prices on nearly every service possible (rent, washing machine use, lockout fee, etc.), and there has been a noticeable LOSS on services provided for students. Inspections (and the associated cleaning) happen less than twice a semester now, the gardens are full of weeds and overgrown, half the items in the common room are broken (there is not a single pool cue with a tip, and more than 6 broken table tennis rackets).
The rent itself caught everyone by surprise when it was announced at the end of last year, the 2018 price for a singles room at Erica Underwood House was $190 per person, per week (pppw). This followed a trend over the past 4 years of increasing the rent by between 2-5% yearly. The 2019 rent for a singles room at Erica Underwood House was $221 pppw. This was a 14% increase in price, a disproportionately high amount.
Unilodge clearly prioritises money over the wellfare of students, and it shows. A number of flats in Semester 2 2019 have empty rooms that were unable to be filled, Unilodge even offered a prize to anyone who could convince someone they know to move in. The feeling among residents (including some RAs) is not positive, it is hard to find someone who has a good thing to say about Unilodge (excluding the lovely staff).
For students from international backgrounds, or from rural areas needing to move to the city to study, on-campus accommodation is often the only reasonable option. They are therefore forced to watch as the leech that is Unilodge latches onto your bank account, and sucks all the money and much of the joy out of living and studying at uni.
Those seeking to move to a Unilodge property, I caution that you first look very, very carefully at the advertised prices, and expect a host of fees on top of the high rent, limited services, and an executive culture of money first, residents second.

The staff are ALWAYS lovely (Steve and Mel), they remember my name always, always help me out with a smile, quick to reply to emails. They have fun events set up regularly and make an effort to make sure everyone feels comfortable in their home and with their roommates. The free candy and fruit in the main office is definitely a plus. Really great team and its always a pleasure to see them, even if there is an issue, they handle it quickly and effectively. Sad to leave so soon!
Most kind and caring staff, always up for a friendly chat and there when you need them! Rooms are perfect for the uni lifestyle with large desks and flats are conveniently placed between the shops and uni! Living at Erica has made my first year of University much easier
Erica Underwood has a great location close to the University and shops. The staff in the office are super helpful and friendly:)
Very friendly staff (Melissa and Steve). They will do their best to make sure your stay at Erica is worth the price. Living here you can expects weekly events such as barbecues and movie nights. The housing is very clean and up to date. Very close to Waterfront (shopping center).
The college is really communal with regular events to attend. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the accommodation itself is quite specious and set up in a good format. The location is ideal, with only a short walk to Curtin and the shopping centre.
Erica Underwood is in the perfect location, a short walk to uni and shopping centre nearby. The rooms have a large desk- which is great for studying! The staff are very supportive and always willing to help:)
Erica underwood house has a great location close to uni campus and the Waterford shopping centre. The rooms are very spacious with a huge desk and plenty of storage. The friendly staff caters for your needs and are always happy to lend a hand. I have really enjoyed living at Erica for my first year at uni.
Erica Underwoods is a great place to socialise, make connections, receive support and engage in many social activities/events. I've made many memories through my time here and developed many connections with the residence here. Would highly recommend this accommodation for first year students
Super friendly staff always willing to help and chat. The rooms have a big desk too and the common room has heaps of stuff to do. Location is awesome and close to coles, bottle shop and uni:)
The accommodation here is awesome! People here are very nice. It’s convenient to get to the uni and shopping centre: D Steven and Mel from the office are fantastic!
Amazing place. They have free food nights on Fridays periodically. They have awesome trips and a nice staff. Sev also plays the guitar and he'll serenade you if you ask nicely.
