Wouldn’t use again. I paid a lot of money for them to say I need a MRI on my foot which was pretty obvious.
Once I got the scans back, they then told me they wouldn’t see me now because I am not private………
DO NOT RECOMMEND

Very professional and knowledgeable. I had a fracture which needed immediate attention and he offered me an urgent appointment on the same day. He explained everything to me plainly so it was easy to understand. He also provided a splint and a special boot for my foot. I think it is great that he sells them directly at the clinic so there is no fuss trying to get them at the chemist/orthopaedic. Then he offered follow up via telehealth so I didn't have to travel to the clinic. I totally recommend him!

I had my Achilles rupture and was referred to Dr Zilko. He was very thorough and made my recovery easy. The operation was non invasive so my scares were minimal. Highly recommend Dr Zilko.

The name of Dr Zilko was mentioned to me through a former colleague of mine who was one of Dr Zilko’s patients. I had my 1st consultation with Dr Zilko 3 days ago, and my experience confirmed my former colleague’s summery of him: “A good professional! ” Right from my 1st phone call to Dr Zilko’s office in January to completing the consultation, I experienced care and attention to detail from his staff and him in every stage.

After my appointment making phone call, I received communication from Dr Zilko’s secretary who told me that the x-ray I have on file is too old and referrals for x-ray and MRI from Dr Zilko have sent to me, and needed to be done before attending my appointment. Receiving referrals from a specialist before seeing him was a new experience to me! He could do it like other specialists I saw before, give me the referral for imaging at my 1st consultation, and tell me to see him again after I had it done, but he choose to do what is cost effective to patients and also to the taxpayers/Medicare.

When sitting in front of surgeons (I had a several surgeries in the past), the healthy fear/respect I have towards them makes me forgetting or giving up asking questions, especially when their diagnostic talks are full of medical terminologies/jargons. As if understood how I felt Dr Zilko pointed out the problematic areas showing up on the MRI and explained to me in simplistic terms what causes these problems and pain I experiencing. He then gave me chance to ask questions. I had highlighted some words and sentences on the diagnostic imaging report that I had bought with me, and asked him what they all meant. With the aid of an anatomical model and referring to the MRI at the same time, Dr Zilko explained to me in detail on things that matters and things that don’t to my pain. Whenever I felt awkward, he would put me into easy. Before seeing Dr Zilko, I was only given one surgical option by two different surgeons, now I know two and Dr Zilko explained to me the advantages and disadvantages of each, and reasons he prefers one from the other in my case.

Yes, he was a bit late in seeing me, but I believe he was held up by other patient related business because from the way he treated me, he is the type of doctor who would do everything in his power to do the right thing for his patients.

I saw Dr Zilko for the first time around June 2020 to consult on a calcaneonavicular tarsal coalition, from the first appointment until my last pre op appointment he and his staff have been fantastic, I was made to feel unrushed and free to ask any questions I may have, his staff are incredibly responsive to emails and phone calls. I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience

I would not recommend Dr Zilko. 8 mths post op. Bunionectomy, neurectomy and pin in 2nd toe. Still have pain and am unable to walk comfortably. Booked op believing that after 6 weeks I could remove the surgical shoe and put my trainers on. Not true, it was 11 weeks before I could wear my own shoes. No warning about pain and the side effects of the pain killers. 2 weeks post op nurse removed stitches. She neglected to explain wound care and exercises for operated toes. She advised me to take medication which I later found out was detrimental to bone healing. Called her the next day crying in pain and she advised me to remove the splints she had put on my foot, this led to my second toe healing in an incorrect position. I did not know until I saw my 6 weeks post op x-ray that I had a permanent pin in this toe.

Dr Zilko was brilliant! He took the time to explain everything clearly and ensure I understood my options. His surgical work is the best I've seen. Stitching almost like a plastic surgeon.
He's a typical deep thinker who really understands his profession. This means that he is straight to the point and can sometimes seem abrupt. Do not take it personally, he's just no nonsense. I'll take this coupled with a brilliant doctor and surgeon any day.
Definitely recommend him to everyone. You won't be disappointed with his work.

I had my first appointment with Dr Zilko today. I have multi able issues with my feet. I would be classed as a hard patient. Dr Zilko sat and listened today to all off my issues. Never rushed me out the rooms even though I made him late. Instead off saying no your way your to hard he came up with a plan. So that’s one step closer to relieving my pain.
Thanku
I look forward to the next step.

Very rude
tried to push me out the door after 5 minutes
wouldn't listen to what had happened to my ankle
couldn't tell me what was wrong with my ankle even though it had been injured for 6 months and had large amount of swelling, lack of range of movement, hardly any strength in it and the constant pain
will never recommend him to someone else suppose to be a specialist definitely not either that or he is just lazy was a waste of my time and $190

I have had pain in my foot now for well over 5yrs went through Dr zilko and after doing a mri couldn't find a problem yep instead of going let's try something else just hand balled me to pain management, went back to my gp who took initiative of trying again started with a xray and found a massive heel spur sticking into my tendon causing all the pain.avoid zilko he gives up way to easily and is another one of those throw it into the too hard basket

Was referred by my podiatrist for possible surgery due to years of pain in my ankle. But had to get a GP referral first ($35 or so after medicare). Got the GP referral and made my appointment down in Murdoch too see Simon. Had to take half a day off work to be there for an x-ray prior to the appointment. Got the x-ray, waited 45mins afterwards to see Simon. Got in the room, and was immediately told nothing he could do for me surgically. Had a two minute discussion about my history whilst he did a quick examination before cutting me off and asked me "what are your options now? ". Is this a normal question from a medical professional? Instead of providing me with information/advice/alternatives, i get asked what I'm doing. Was then pushed out the door to a random receptionist room to be greeted by a snotty receptionist who just said "that'll be $190". Half a day off work, $220,2 minutes of his time, to be told nothing he could do, go find your own options.
