Dr Rao is just the person you need on your journey. Friendly, polite, professional and a life changer. I am so glad I found him and would highly recommend to anyone.

After hearing nothing but amazing stories about Ravi and his work from so many people and following him for years. I was shocked with the way he spoke to me and I did not have the same great experience.

His team prioritised me through the wait line for an appointment and surgery date which I was very grateful. However when I spoke to him he was very short sharp and explained complications and quick details of hospital and the anaesthetists details. This call went for 15 minutes.

Five minutes after the call I had worries and unsettled nerves from hearing what complications could occur and wrote back to his chat to ask his opinion if the risk of complications outweighed the risk of living with my hernia. He called back straight after and I was told if I’m having concern I was just “wasting his time” and that I needed to make a decision on the spot if I wanted to see him the following week.

When I asked if I were to take time to think about it - what would his calendar look like for the next spot, he replied “why don’t you just call back as your now cutting into time with other patients, because if your scared and going to have cold feet I’m going to cancel next week” (this was all within a 10 min period) When I said cancel please if you believe I am wasting your time double checking due to my fear of complication - he said okay and exited the call.

Great communication throughout, everything explained and told everything I needed to know. 118kg down to 88kg in 3 months and feeling great. Big thanks to Dr Ravi and his team

I highly recommend Dr Ravi Rao. I'm 3 mths post op and feel amazing. Ravi explained everything perfectly so I could understand the whole process. I have 4 close friends and my daughter who are also very happy to have gone with Dr Ravi. If your thinking of doing this you couldn't find a better Surgeon.

I went to doctor Rao after having surgery with another doctor (that should not be one) I was having stomach pain after eating or drinking for the last two and a half years as the first doctor said it was in my mind.after one consultation with doctor Rao. I had surgery the next day for 4 hours with blocked bowls after just three weeks I am now with very little pain and getting better. I can only say thanks to a true surgeon for helping me not like the other so call surgeon

What an absolute legend Dr Ravi Rao is. When another surgeon basically washed his hands of me as I was "too difficult" given I had had a number of previous surgeries I thankfully found Dr Rao. I nearly cried when I found out my surgery was a success. The aftercare and support is second to none and the receptionists are always so cheerful and welcoming. I had prepared myself for the consult with Ravi. Tell yourself you are open is what I said as I sat there. I cannot speak highly enough of my experience with Dr Ravi Rao of Perth Surgical and Bariatrics. Ravi is extremely knowledgeable, professional and has excellent bedside manner. I was beyond anxious about the gastric sleeve and Ravi helped get me to a logical, calm place about the best way forward. I spent 3 years researching surgeons and all about the procedures available while trying to decide if it was for me. I wanted to choose my own surgeon. I am very glad I found Ravi. His training is excellent, which I found very reassuring. Also, his suture work is the neatest of any surgery I have had. He is very particular and you can tell he takes pride in his work. Even the nurses at pre surgery check in said you are in excellent hands, Ravi is very thorough!
He also has an excellent Dietician on staff/ in office who specialises in Bariatrics and works hand in hand with him to ensure you have good support.
I would also absolutely recommend anyone that has more complex issues to see Ravi. He listened to me where many other doctors & surgeons would not and found and repaired a large bowel adhesion and a hernia from a previous surgery whilst doing my sleeve.
It was validating to know something was wrong. Ravi said if I had not told him what was going on the adhesion was not something he would have normally found.
He is a true gentleman and master in his field in my opinion.

Dr Ravi Rao is thorough, kind, caring professional and compassionate and that's just the beginning. The entire team, worked tirelessly to ensure that the initial consultations, procedure and aftercare runs smoothly. From the moment you meet Dr Ravi you know you are in good hands.
He removed my band initially (not done by him) which gave me endless problems. Although I lost weight with the band I was in constant pain, vomiting every day and my diet was restricted. He then performed the sleeve and what a difference. No issues at all. I’m loosing weight, feel amazing and can eat small amounts of most food.
The knowledge and care provided was exceptional. Could not recommend this surgery more.

I would like to thank DR Ravi from the bottom of my heart for giving me a second chance at life. From his beautiful admin staff whom always have smiles on there faces and are so kind and caring, to my talented dietitian Jane Stoltze for taking care of me throughout my journey and keeping me on track. I was a heavy drinker and smoker ($1000-$1200 a week habits)
Extremely high blood pressure (GP was having trouble over the years to keep it stable)
High cholesterol
Verge of diabetes
Chronic sleep apnea

With a kick up the bum and some tough love from Dr Rao I now have my life back. 18 months post Op I’m 82kg, no sleep apnea, no high blood pressure, Normal cholesterol, no cigarettes for over 18 months, very minimal alcohol (none for the first 13month)

I’m only 3 months post sleeve surgery but I’m so happy I made the decision to meet with Dr Rao. The way I feel now compared to the rock bottom I felt before I made the decision is amazing. I feel so much better and my recovery and the aftercare so far from Dr Rao and his staff has been fantastic. The communication and easy accessibility of Dr Rao is also definitely a positive.
