CVW Accounting

We had used CVW accounting for our tax returns for 2 years prior, this year we were referred to Stephen Vinning the managing director to handle the third tax return. To put it mildly Stephen's handling of this return was an absolute shambles with no justification at any stage of the process. According to CVW's website "THE CVW ACCOUNTING PROMISE

They did not deliver on either, as the tax return information was provided on 28th February, with a draft return not provided until 6th April and following comment, the return was not lodged until 19th April around 7 weeks later for what was a pretty uncomplicated & straightforward return. Additionally without any prior notification the tax return lodgement fee was increased by 36% from the previous two years. This information was only provided after the lodgment was completed and CVW had taken their fee from the tax refund. Stephen has evaded multiple queries on the above and I am now taking this up with a complaint to the Tax Practitioners Board.

Update:
In response to the commentary from CVW wanted to clarify a few of the claims made for others to draw their own conclusions:

1- Fees, despite repeated requests to identify where the a fee proposal was submitted prior to undertaking the accountancy works this has never been provided by CVW, hence the assumption that the fee would be as per the previous 2 years tax return submissions by CVW. This was not the case and the 36% increase applied after the work was completed.

2-It took 5 weeks for the first return to be provided from CVW during which time there was no additional information provided, only several requests asking when the return would be provided. Thereafter 2 weeks for incorrect information on the returns to be corrected by CVW- no new information was provided, it was all on the documents/information provided with the original tax return information we submitted. 7 weeks in total.

The last statement from CVW is redundant, obviously given the above we would never use the services of CVW again and I have lodged a formal complaint with the Tax Practitioners Board and also the ACCC.

The most annoying part of the whole experience is the lack of communication from Steven, multiple emails to resolve the above, brushed off, yet the time is found to write a response to this review.

Such lovely people. So welcoming and friendly. Their knowledge and expertise are second to none, and they have the rare knack of being able to explain it in simple terms.

We have been with CVW Accounting for at least five years. The team were a big help sorting out mistakes from our previous company accountant. Stephen, Mark and Ami are always friendly and available to answer questions and queries. Highly recommend CVW Accounting!
