Coogee Plaza Fish & Chips

We've been coming here for years. Fantastic fish and chips.

Only critiscism is that potato scallops are frequently undercooked. Last time I ordered, I requested that they be double cooked which was agreed and the scallops were still raw.

I see that I am not the only reviewer with this comment.

New owners! So back to being a great fish & chips shop.soo good ive had it twice in a week

Good fish n chips and great value for money. Ordered the Seafood delight box and was ample for two people. 2 pieces of good sized fish, squid, scallops n a truckload of chips. Oh, and a surprised prawn that was added without me knowing. Thank you guys. Service was welcoming and informative on the menu selections. Really easy transaction done with pleasure.

Credit where credit’s due - the team have turned this ship around! We ordered last night to see if they’ve improved and my word we were impressed! Fish was perfect, chips great, crab stick’s excellent. They even offered me a free lemon on the way out… a small gesture but showing the extra effort was top notch. We’ll done to the team - 5/5 now!

Third strike and we’re done with Coogee Plaza fish and chips. This was our favourite fish and chips until the new (current) owner has taken over. Batter thicker than the fish, fish is paper thin, chip over cooked to the point they’re just a shell. Got our order totally wrong last time. So, we’re out. Not sure it’s the kids fault who are working there they’ve probably received very little training. No owner info/contact anywhere which I’m not surprised given the way the place is run now.

Love the food, we come here for take out all the time on Family catching up weekly. Highly recommend for our locals.

A Wonderful Comeback with New Ownership!

I had been a regular customer at this shop but took a hiatus for a while. Upon hearing that the shop was under new ownership, I was intrigued to try it out again. I'm thrilled to report that the place has made a remarkable turnaround!
The quality of the food is now even better than I remembered. The fish was perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. The chips were golden and delicious.
The service was friendly and quick, making the dining experience even more enjoyable.
I'm glad to see that the shop has not only maintained its charm but has elevated its quality under new management. I'll definitely be a regular customer again and look forward to more delicious meals in the future!

Just don’t! Seventy dollars spent for 4 pieces of fish and enough chips for two people. Even paid for extra chips, but didn’t get them. I ring to speak to the manager and I am put onto a boy who said he was 16. Who has a 16 year old in charge on a Friday night? I’ll be going somewhere else in future.

Absolutely gross we are local and was going there regular for chips.
Came in last few times and chips are been sitting there and cold the young guys don't care at all and is dirty grease taste of the food.
I never complain but gross.wouldnt even give it a star

Lovely service the young boys were really respectful and food was fresh the 4 boys riley, nate, brodie and sam (i asked for there names) provided great service and gave generous servings thats to these boys that are trying there hardest and making this the best fish and chip shop in coogee

Very disappointing fish and chips, fish was well and truly overcooked. Tasted very dry and oily. What made it even worse was that it was Mother’s Day dinner.

Just collected my 3 pieces of snapper. Seriously they are 5-7cm in length! It’s like you have cut one piece of snapper in 3! $13.90 per piece. What a joke! SO angry right now!

I’m a long time supporter of this place, it was always tasty and well priced. Our order tonight was terrible- soggy chips, oil was dripping out of the fish and pineapple fritter. We got 3 serves for 2 adults and 1 child and it wasn’t enough to feed us. A year ago 2 serves of fish and chips was too much for 4 of us. I won’t be back.

This place has gone to the dogs. Avoid at all costs.
Fish is now appalling. I don’t know what you would call them but potato scallops they are not. Absolutely inedible.

They used to be slow but the food was good. Now, not only are they slow, but the food is near inedible.

5 stars for the food but they need to get a better system in place for service.
Friday nights are the worst. Prepare to wait.
I waited 55 minutes after a “20 minutes” estimate for one serve of fish and chips
Everyone places phone orders - starting at 4.30 for a 6pm collect - and walk ins get shoved to the back of the queue.
My order was ready earlier but I had to wait till all the other numbers got fulfilled before it was dragged out of the warmer. Not happy Jan

A young man at the front desk named matt was such a pleasure. His manners were impeccable and single handedly made me the best fish and chips of my life. Well done matt keep it up young champ

Twice I've ordered fish and chips delivery through these guys and somehow both times they've forgotten to give me chips in a fish and chips order it can't be that hard can it?

Wow what a disappointment. It used to be a nice fish and chips place. Very fishy and disgusting. Made me sick. Old oil. Gross. Never again not cooked properly at all.

Great service these 2 young lads Riley and Matt there names were, great service fixed my order straight away and even talked to me while we waited for the fish to cook.

Ordered 3 pieces of battered shark and got 3 very, very small pieces at 8cm x 8cm each. When I rang to complain I was advised that there is “no set size” for the fish serves. Used to be outstanding service and food but has slid to dismal with the new management. Won’t be returning.

Give it a miss, this place used to be so good but it's dreadful now. A piece of shark was that small it was almost gone in one bite, staff just laughed when we complained. Won't be going back there.
