Conto Campground reviews
20 This location is a lovely place. Winding roads with camping bay spurs around a central toilet/ BBQ areas.
Many areas to suit caravan, campers and tents.
Beautiful Conto Campground.
Great facilities, incredible wildlife and Wildflowers. The perfect place to relax in perfect surroundings.
Great spot, facilities are just drop toilets but you're not here for that. Contos spring just around the corner is one of my favourite spots in the south west.
Great spot and right in the heart of Margaret River! Clean sites & a clean drop toilet.
Sites are about 20 min walk from the beach / views! But otherwise spot on
Great quiet campground, not far from beach and limestone caves. Great amenities, very well run. Lots of people moving through, no generators or dogs.
Beautiful, well kept and spacious campground. Fire pits available in all areas except for Isaacs, tables at every camping site and plenty clean tidy toilets and as I write this review they are installing more toilet blocks. Highly recommend!
Huge campground with decently clean drop toilet and camp kitchen. Very peaceful, lovely walk to Conto beach for sunset- not far from Margaret river town and all the wineries!
Awesome camping spot, access to a unique beach, really quiet and full of nature.
Some facilities around like barbecues and toilets, the toilets were clean.they are natural toilets with not chemical products.
Rangers really knowledge about the take care of the environment and super friendly. I will back for sure and tell everyone about this spot
So peaceful
Amazing grounds among nature
You can hear the waves crashing at night
Good hospitality
Need to bring own water as there is none here
Drop toilets
The campground is superb, but the beach access via Conto Rd is a darn disgrace. We paid $30 a night to stay and expected to drive to the beach. What a joke, road is rutted, full of bulldust, lots of broken off plastic car parts, bolts, alloy wheel bits on the road. National Parks WA should be ashamed. We are travellers and feel this takes the cake for the worse National Park road yet.
Great tent and camper camping. Slept in a swags with 2 4wds in the same spot. Plenty of room. Bookings are not essential and you can show up and get a spot if not booked out. The ranger comes around in the morning and collect the $15 adult fees and i beleive it is $3 for children
Great, spacious campsite. Well looked after, enough privacy from neighbours, and feels safe and secure while exploring the beautiful surroundings.
Better than expected. Gorgeous weather for a camp. No mozzies. Relatively quiet and camp site tucked under peppermint trees. Very calm.
Highly recommended. Toilets are super clean and camping spots are spacious. Don't worry about firewood since you could find plenty in there. Rain water is available as well. Clean and nice place for a calm Vacay.
This is a great place with lovely views and very clean bathrooms. The only thing that eould make it better would be showers.
It is a good place to stay at but you do have to pay to get in. Not very messy, a couple of wild animals. The toilets are some of the better drop toilets
Great camp site. Lots of room and each lot is surprisingly secluded. It's a bit of a walk to get to the beach but this isn't really a big deal at all.
Tried to fill up water during our Cape to Cape hike, but 3 Taps just blew air. Another camper told me there was no water for the last 3 days. Pretty bad effort, no signage and the office was closed during a work day in the school holidays so no one could help. Fail.
We were pleasantly surprised at this site. Mostly quiet and surrounded by lovely trees. It has flat ground that is not red. Which is nice for a change. Large lots that can fit big tents, caravan, trailers and trucks.
Lots of cars driving by and some were a tad fast. If you are quick, snap up a camp site that's back from the road a bit, as the dust from faster cars floats around a bit.
It's not as close to the beach as we would have liked, we were looking at a beach side camp spot. You have to drive to the beach. As we found out it's not a 20 minute walk but a hike through dense scrub and the beach is really rocky.
Would we come back definitely! It's big draw card is the bird life. I forgot to bring my camera so I am kicking myself but it is so awesome to see and hear them playing around looking for food.
Stayed in Hamelin.
Arrived 1 o’clock in the afternoon, set up camp in one of the quieter spots in the camp.
Came back around 6: 30 PM and the campsite across from us was parked up with about 5-6 vehicles in the one spot, around 10-15 people sitting around a table playing loud, extremely base heavy music that was clearly audible throughout the whole campground. We didn’t say anything until 11: 30 PM at which point the constant screaming, shrieking, loud music and singalongs just became too much. I gave them the warning that they had half an hour, and at midnight would make a complaint. Was laughed at and ignored. At 12: 15 tried to call Conto’s and was redirected to a voicemail, with no options for a call to a ranger.
Ended up asking them to turn it off again, was laughed at and one guy in particular was aggressive and rude.
At 12: 30 I called the police and they came out, the campers must have finally been scared and got the message to shut up.
At no point did rangers check our booking or that of the guys opposite us.
Multiple other campers came to their site to complain.
No ranger came by in the morning, and it appears the calls I am making are going straight to voicemail all day today.
Not good enough! On Friday and Saturday nights booking should be checked by ranger staff, so that idiots like these can’t pack themselves 15-20 people into a campsite and play obnoxious music until 1: 30am which is when they finally shut up.
Ranger station should be open/ a ranger at least AVAILABLE on a Sunday when your campsite is being utilized.
Waste of money, ruined weekend away and will never return to this campsite and it’s lack of regulation.
This is why people illegally camp in remote locations!
